  1. Thank you to everyone who took part in last month's 126th Barnack's Monthly theme, which was filled with more than 1,400 pictures, excellent ideas and interpretations of the theme, and which is the second highest total in the entire 10 years of the Barnack's Monthly thread! Also, thank you to everyone who helped to make it another successful month by generously posting their pictures and in particular to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it an interesting and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us! The Barnack's Monthly theme for April 2019 is: Triangle. This month's theme is any pictures containing at least one triangle or the word "triangle" whether on its own or as part of another word, and please let us know where the triangle is in your picture. It could be a triangle formed by the branches and trunk of a tree, triangles in the strings of a tennis racquet, soldiers in a triangular formation, a triangle played by a member of an orchestra, a triangle in the lines of a persons face, a crack across the corner of a paving stone, The Triangle Motorcycle Gang, the triangle formed by the bargeboards and soffit in the front of a house, the triangles in an icosahedron (20-sided figure), the triangles in a Star of David, the triangle in the frame of a bicycle, triangles in the lead in lead-light windows, triangles in a pentagon, triangles in The Pentagon, the triangle in a Lacrosse racquet, triangles on a football, the triangle formed by a Vulcan aircraft, the triangle in a cantilever streetlight beam, The Golden Triangle hotel in Phnom Penh in Cambodia, the triangle formed by the body of a lute, triangles in a spidey's web, triangles in a chickenwire fence, the triangle fascias in a 'Trilliant' cut diamond ring - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free but please try to keep to the topic! It would be a help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view. Members have asked if we'd very kindly name the camera and lens used - if you can remember - because it's interesting to know but, again, it's just helpful. The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with this month's theme in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting! It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures, seeing others' take on the topic, and enjoying it! Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts, pictures that have been posted on the forum before, any equipment as long as it and the photo complies with the forum's rules of either camera or lens or both made by Leica. Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this thread. So, if you'd like to show your acknowledgement or appreciation that someone has posted their picture then instead of posting a comment please use the "Thanks" button that you can find at the bottom right of every post. Please post away and I look forward to seeing your interesting interpretations of this month's theme. Note: Moderator Pop has very kindly assembled links to all of the past Barnack's Monthly threads as a single archive that can be found here: Barnack's Monthly Index. Thank you, Pop! Pete.

This month's theme is any pictures containing or inside a church, cathedral, temple, synagogue, mosque, chapel, basilica, shrine, monastery, minster, abbey, Wat, kirk, Society of Friends Meeting House, Kingdom Hall, or other place of worship. It could be a kirk on a hill, a synagogue by the sea, a metropolitan mosque, a Wat beside water, candles in a cathedral, a procession in a basilica, flowers left beside a shrine, a congregation at a church service, a timeless temple, a mosque's minaret, a hill-top monastery, York Minster, Canterbury Cathedral, the Temple of Mithras, Regent's Park Mosque, Westminster Abbey, Stamford Hill Synagogue, St Clement Danes RAF Church, The Guards' Chapel in London, Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu Temple in Brighton, the Buddhahapadipa Buddhist Monastery Temple, sunlight glinting off a crucifix, pews in shadow, sunlit stained glass windows, a chalice, flowers at an alter, a sermon from a pulpit, traditional dress in a temple, a priest's robes, a table with copy of the Talmud, or the Quran or the Bible, or the Book of Mormon, or the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a wedding, a funeral, Hanukkah, The Five Pillars of Islam, a Bar Mitzvah, a steeple, a church graveyard, a messy vestry, a cathedral clock - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free! It would be a help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view. This month's theme is any pictures containing stone or rock in some form (for example marble, gravel, pebbles, sand boulders etc), or the words "stone" or "rock" by themselves or as part of another word. I recently inherited a Leica III + Elmart 50mm 1:3.5 and have started using it. I do have a general understanding but was hoping you guys could provide some valuable insight as to the best way to use this gem. Thank you!

  12. Hi everyone, I’ve recently acquired a Leica III and I’ve been enjoying this camera so much that I have not touched my M3 at all for over a month now. I was wondering if there are any Barnack Leica users here who could recommend me their favorite lenses for the system. I currently own: - Nickel Elmar 5cm f3.5 (elmar, uncoated from 1933) - Chrome Elmar 5cm f3.5 Red scale (coated from 1954) I’m thinking of getting rid of one of the Elmars (still have to decide which one) and get another 50mm that is compact / light but a bit brighter and a 28/35mm as well.

Looking for photos, stories and anecdotes on the first rangefinder Leica II (D) that started its pioneer journey in 1932, ninety years ago to date - paste them here.
  18. Moin!
