Hi! I recently purchased a used Leica Q manufactured early 2018. When I try shooting in night, both "low iso + long exposure", and "high iso + short exposure" captured in DNG file shows annoying banding, and even some unwanted color points, like the images shown below. Is this a native camera issue? Or this camera sensor is defected : (

I've been waking up one of the Leica M9 cameras after more than a year's sleep on the shelf. Both the 16 GB cards I use show these patterns in the DNG. I've formatted the cards in SD Format and camera, but the problem persist. From time to time. I'm sure we've had this before. Anyone who can refresh my memory what it is?

Hello all. I've owned my new Leica Q for just under 2 weeks now and I'm still getting to grips with it. This is the latest in a long line of "street photography" oriented cameras that I have owned (Leica M8.2, Leica X1, Ricoh GR, Fuji X100, Fuji X-T1), so I can't help but compare their performance - especially after all of the rave reviews that the Q has received. I've got to admit that I'm feeling a little underwhelmed so far - I'll reserve judgement for, as there is bound to be a learning curve with any new camera. One thing that has really surprised me is the amount of banding that is present at shots taken at 200 ISO (admittedly pushed 2EV in ACR). I know that I can push the image through the Define 2 plug-in, but should it really be necessary at almost base ISO? I honestly think I got better performance from my M8.2 at ISO 200. Just got the M10 on Fri. and it seems like in a few shots with highlights that are 2-3 stops over clip I get these bands that bleed out from them as dark lines. (Yes I know I'm not supposed to overexpose that much but sometimes there are 18K's pointed at windows, and I do have lower exposed frames that are fine). I read a thread earlier suspecting that this was the highlights bleeding into the black balance area because of an improper sensor seal. So is this just an M10 thing or do I need to demand a replacement? Other than that I'm smitten with the camera!

Hi guys, Seeking your help or anyone of you coming across this phenomenon that, i see vertical banding on every photos with ISO640, regardless of SD card (from slow to Extreme Pro), the stubborn banding on occur on ISO640, the rest of the ISO are working fine without banding at all. Trying to learn how to (best) manage noise with shots in dark conditions. Your feedback would be appreciated. (Uploaded to my Google Drive original DNG and various JPGs at different stages of LR editing--file names captures what I did. Please access at your convenience.) Are the patterns that run horizontally what are commonly referred to as "banding"? Is this the best one can do with the image without further smearing details? No idea how to describe this problem I'm having other than "banded skyline" or perhaps "colorless rainbow". Any thoughts on why this may occur? I'm using Leica M8 with Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux ASPH (6-Bit) - Silver

Dear all, I bought the "reporter edition" of M10-P about 5 months ago. And it constantly has freezing issue. For the past few weeks, it's just been way too often, like 1 out 2 days it would freeze. I always turn the EV on when I'm shooting, and before it's about to freeze, the EV looks like it's having dropped frames, pretty lagging and then it would freeze, so I have to take the battery out and restart the camera. And many times it just freezes after I turn the camera on, I don't even get to press the shutter. Yesterday, I went out shooting and it froze again, but this time, after I restarted the camera like I always did, I found that the screen got a dark horizontal line on the very top of it (please view the photo I uploaded). I checked the photos, it's usually without the line on them, unless the ISO is 4000 or higher, then I got part of the line (or banding?) on the left side. Is this normal? Should I send the camera in for a replacement of the CMOS or something?

From 1600 ASA upwards, my images from the Q2 start showing aspherical horizontal lines. I am not sure this is classic 'banding' or rather some other issue. Does anyone else experience this? I enclose a well exposed sample (taken at 3.200 ASA) and the same at +1 and +2 exposure. Check out the top right quadrant. I love my M9!!! but after shooting for about a year I have the last couple of months seen horizontal stripes across my files. Always on low ISO 160 and 320 and only in the left side of the frame. It is seen in about one out of 100 shots. My camera has 35.000 shots. What is this? I have been in contact with Leica but they don´t seem to know:( So please if you have a good guess out there.....HELP as it is impossible to get rid of in photoshop unless you turn the noise up like crazy! I have enclosed a couple of images and 100 % crops from the left upper corner. Strangely it is only here the stripes are. About a third into the frame from the left side - there is nothing to see - no stripes - in the center of the file! Best /thomas -
Hi guy, I am here new, but it looks like this is a forum full of nice people, who dont fight with each other. I have a simply question. I am considering to buy me a M-E and I have read about the banding/card problems with M9. Cos the M-E is rebranded M9, I would like to ask you about your personal experience. Are this problems solved, or are the problems with M9 are also transformed to M-E? My second question is, if you have any experience with Voiglander 35/1.4 MC? Cos the investment in Leica will be big, I have to wait one year for the real Leica glass and till this time, I am cosidering cheaper alternative. I am 35 mm guy and I would like to buy Leica as my walkaround camera. Use D700 for my professional work. Thank you for your opinion and personal thoughts. Many thanks!

I am seeing a few posts by M262 / M-D owners stating that there is slightly improved image quality and even less banding at higher ISOs on the M262 series cameras. As the cameras are meant to have identical sensors, do we think this is just new owner's biased impressions (nothing wrong with that btw) is could there be something in this?
