  1. Hi, l’ve a 50mm Summicron and 90mm elmarit; both stellar lenses. I’ve had these lenses for a good few years and don’t have any desire for more. From the get go I was sure to source lenses with common filter sizes, in this instance 39mm. I shoot quite a lot of film with my M6, both colour and BW. Its on the way back (in the post) with a viewfinder upgrade and CLA so looking forward to giving it a good run feeding it lots more film. I’ve a B+W F- Pro orange filter that I use a little and I’d like to add to this. Specifically a green filter for BW portraits, to experiment on my young s
  2. Hello All, I started this thread with the aim to collect the most exciting portraits in black & white taken on the streets. I will start with one taken this summer in Sardinia, Italy. Please comment and feel free to add yours. Cheers, Massimo Let me take a shot by Massimo Della Valle, su Flickr
  3. Portrait of his Son Leica Q, f=2,8, 1/60 sec., ISO 125
  4. Taken whilst walking through Brugge (Belgium) shortly after a rainstorm using the M9 and 35mm Summarit f2.8. I hope you like it!
  5. Well...I decided to try my hand at developing at home. I got everything ready and thought it would go reasonably smooth but... The ONE thing that I didn't check out well enough was how to load the reel, but when I realized that I was committed inside my changing bag so I figured, the worst that could happen is that I'd ruin the film. Well, I did. I had a really hard time getting it ON the reel, and wasn't sure how tight it should be but after I was done developing, I looked up a YT video and oh boy....waaaaaayyyyy too tight. So I finished it and it's drying but it's really bad.
  6. I took this pleading dog in Ghent, Belgium, using the M9 and 35mm Summarit f2.5. Hope you like it.
  7. I asked this accordionist if I could take his image whilst walking through Antwerp, and he nodded his approval. When I had finished (I took 2 shots virtually identical) I put all the change in my pocket into his case, but he became disgruntled suggesting it wasn't enough. Sadly I had to walk away because I felt he might get angry, there was nothing more I could do. Processed into b&w with LR CC from the original .dng file. Gerry
  8. I took this in 2002 in Notre Dame cathedral using available light with the M6 and T-Max400CN, but have only just got round to scanning it. I hope you like it! Gerry
  9. I have written a short blog piece about a recent shoot at Wilton Sheep Sales near Salisbury in England. It features a number of black and white images taken there on the M9 and can be viewed at: http://wp.me/pT0pm-mI Hope you enjoy looking! Gerry

  12. Taken in the Soho area of London in 1999 and just discovered whilst trawling through my negatives. It would have been Leica M6 and is Tri-X. Gerry
  13. I have reworked this image from an original colour posting I made back in November 2016. I prefer this version. Taken with a Leica M9 and 35mm Summarit @400iso whilst on a LFI workshop with Craig Semetko in Hamburg. Gerry
  14. Scenes from The Racetrack, a 12 minutes exposure taken in Death Valley during one of the Workshops I led there last January. Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm v. III and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  15. A drizzly, cold, damp afternoon on New York City's famed High Line gave a moody, monochrome atmosphere which called for this shot to be captured in B&W. This M240 is my first Leica since my M2. This camera made me fall in love with B&W all over again. I could so trade this in for the M262 Monochrom.
  16. Roaming NYC by night is always exciting. I went with the Q only all handheld.
  17. For those who use the Q2 to create black and white images, what have you found is the way to get the best results in terms of image quality? Do you shoot in color then convert to B&W in post processing? If so, which software program do you prefer? I know we already have a Q2 image thread, but if we could see some examples of B&W images made with the Q2 in this thread by way of example, that would be great. My Q2 is on the way and I want to learn about how to maximize it for black and white imagery, particularly for making exhibit quality B&W prints. I'm sure many oth
  18. The imposing Castel Boccale, a castle hanging on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Mediterranean on the shores of Tuscany, in Italy. A 75 second long exposure taken with Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm Super Wide-Heliar and my trusted Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters during a Workshop One-on-One in led in Tuscany. I can't wait to be back there in April! Thank you for viewing, best regards Vieri
  19. War Cemetary „Lohrer Wald“ (49°50'21.52"N; 7°49'38.21“E / 32U 415678 5521508) Tucked away in the midst of an untroubled woodland, there is one of the numerous war cemetaries bestowed upon Europe by the savagery of WW II, summoned up by Nazi Germany. This is the final resting place of more than 2.000 bodies gathered from temporary graves at battlefields and POW camps in the vicinity. The serenity of the surroundings is in stark contrast to the circumstances under which those who lie here must have perished. It is almost as if the generation of survivors wanted to hide their sorrow and gu
