  1. This is a very old image of mine that I always come back to. I was walking the streets of Bielefeld and enjoying long exposure photography. I did not know what to expect. It felt like making music.
  2. Since three weeks I travel around with the Leica Q3 and I love it a lot….. But I do have a question, maybe someone can explain or knows a solution? When I convert my jpg (largest size) to a B&W profile within Lightroom, I see strange lines/blocks in the sky. In this example you can see it on the right upper corner (lines in the white clouds) On another photo I can see little blocks.. On this site I have to upload a smaller size jpg, but I can see it in the large converted version too. I do my editing on my Ipad, so when, after my travels, I am at home, I ‘ll have a look on my computer too. Could it have to do with the screen capability of my Ipad? Or is there another reason? Hope to hear from your experiences! Thanks!
  3. A drizzly, cold, damp afternoon on New York City's famed High Line gave a moody, monochrome atmosphere which called for this shot to be captured in B&W. This M240 is my first Leica since my M2. This camera made me fall in love with B&W all over again. I could so trade this in for the M262 Monochrom.
  4. Hopefully nobody minds me asking an ignorant question... I have an LTM Elmar 50mm f/2.8 and, reading the Ken Rockwell review, he recommends a Yellow #022 39mm filter for b&w photography with that lens. However, what I am really unsure about is how the filters fit to my lens and, if I am not to buy an authentic Leitz/Leica filter, what I need to look for on eBay, etc. I don't see any thread inside the collapsible lens so I am guessing that the filters either fit over the lens like the lens cap or somehow grip onto the inside of the lens. Grateful for any insights plus suggestions re where I can get them!
  5. For those who use the Q2 to create black and white images, what have you found is the way to get the best results in terms of image quality? Do you shoot in color then convert to B&W in post processing? If so, which software program do you prefer? I know we already have a Q2 image thread, but if we could see some examples of B&W images made with the Q2 in this thread by way of example, that would be great. My Q2 is on the way and I want to learn about how to maximize it for black and white imagery, particularly for making exhibit quality B&W prints. I'm sure many others will be interest in this, too.
  6. Roaming NYC by night is always exciting. I went with the Q only all handheld.
  7. The imposing Castel Boccale, a castle hanging on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Mediterranean on the shores of Tuscany, in Italy. A 75 second long exposure taken with Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm Super Wide-Heliar and my trusted Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters during a Workshop One-on-One in led in Tuscany. I can't wait to be back there in April! Thank you for viewing, best regards Vieri
  8. Hello All, I started this thread with the aim to collect the most exciting portraits in black & white taken on the streets. I will start with one taken this summer in Sardinia, Italy. Please comment and feel free to add yours. Cheers, Massimo Let me take a shot by Massimo Della Valle, su Flickr
  9. I took this in 2002 in Notre Dame cathedral using available light with the M6 and T-Max400CN, but have only just got round to scanning it. I hope you like it! Gerry
  10. I have written a short blog piece about a recent shoot at Wilton Sheep Sales near Salisbury in England. It features a number of black and white images taken there on the M9 and can be viewed at: http://wp.me/pT0pm-mI Hope you enjoy looking! Gerry

  13. In Richmond Park. M240, 24mm Elmarit ASPH
  14. Taken in the Soho area of London in 1999 and just discovered whilst trawling through my negatives. It would have been Leica M6 and is Tri-X. Gerry
  15. I have reworked this image from an original colour posting I made back in November 2016. I prefer this version. Taken with a Leica M9 and 35mm Summarit @400iso whilst on a LFI workshop with Craig Semetko in Hamburg. Gerry
  16. I asked this accordionist if I could take his image whilst walking through Antwerp, and he nodded his approval. When I had finished (I took 2 shots virtually identical) I put all the change in my pocket into his case, but he became disgruntled suggesting it wasn't enough. Sadly I had to walk away because I felt he might get angry, there was nothing more I could do. Processed into b&w with LR CC from the original .dng file. Gerry
  17. Well...I decided to try my hand at developing at home. I got everything ready and thought it would go reasonably smooth but... The ONE thing that I didn't check out well enough was how to load the reel, but when I realized that I was committed inside my changing bag so I figured, the worst that could happen is that I'd ruin the film. Well, I did. I had a really hard time getting it ON the reel, and wasn't sure how tight it should be but after I was done developing, I looked up a YT video and oh boy....waaaaaayyyyy too tight. So I finished it and it's drying but it's really bad. It will become my practice film when it's dry. One question; do you like the steel reels or the "quick load" plastic ones? The quick load plastic ones (that ratchet) seem much easier for a noob like me. It was a good experience over all, it gave me an idea of what I'd need to do as far as the rest of the steps. One thing I'll mention also, my changing bag is only 16" x 17" and it seemed really cramped. My instinct is to buy a bigger one that's sort of a pop-tent design but I'm wondering if that's just a knee jerk reaction to my experience?
  18. Taken whilst walking through Brugge (Belgium) shortly after a rainstorm using the M9 and 35mm Summarit f2.8. I hope you like it!
  19. I took this pleading dog in Ghent, Belgium, using the M9 and 35mm Summarit f2.5. Hope you like it.
