I spotted this rather distinctive young lady at an open-air fitness event in my city and simply asked if I could take a photograph of her. I just love her unconventional look and individualism which challenges society norms. She said that Rollerblade Derby was the most important thing in her life. To me she demonstrates that there is more to young people than drugs and violence. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 @ 400iso Gerry

While I was having coffee at my favourite place this guy was sat running his office over his cup of coffee. "Hi, it's Mike the Magician" he said down the telephone. Sadly the guy at the other end didn't seem to know who he was. I took this candid shot of him with the M240 + 50mm lens at 1600iso. I then processed it through Lightroom Classic. Hope you like it! I took my regular visit to my favourite city-centre coffee shop and when he served me the guy behind the counter said "Have you taken any good snaps yet today?". I hadn't, but whilst I sat there with my coffee and Danish this scenario appeared in front of me. It is a candid image, and they did not notice me at any time. I used my M240 fitted with the 50mm Zeiss Sonnar f1.5 and I was working at 1,000iso. Exposure was 1/60th @ f6.8. post-processing was in Lightroom Classic. Hope you like it! Gerry

Hi, I have a question to all those who use the Q2 alongside with their Sony camera: How far can you go with those Q2 RAW files? [Taking the photos shakefree, deliberately underexpose the photos, increasing the exposure in post-processing etc. just to get the shot.] I would like to read your input in that regard. I own the Sony RX100V (RX100 MK5) & A7RIII (A7R MK3) with a bunch of Sony GM (85mm f/1.4), Sony Zeiss (35mm f/2.8 & 55mm f/1.8), Zeiss (Batis 85mm, Loxia 25mm, Loxia 50mm, Loxia 85mm) and adapted Contax Zeiss (28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.7, 85mm f/2.8, 135mm f/2.8) lenses. Currently I love using the Zeiss Loxia lenses and so far I like the Q2's lens rendering. I would like to replace most of those lenses and the RX100V, keep the Loxia & 85mm GM lenses and purchase the Q2. The intention is to simplify my gear and at least have only a few autofocus lenses in my repertoire. The 85mm GM can't go because of portrait photography where autofocus is critical (Sony Eye-AF huray!). For fun projects I like using the Loxia 85mm (that glas is ridiculous sharp and contrasty!). The Q2's purpose is for covering the the focal length 28mm[, 35mm and 50mm] with its autofocus lens. I often see myself using my Sony cameras (I had the A6000 & A7II [A7 MK2] before) on my travels in low light situations (www.instagram.com/ryan.lam.888) and I don't carry a full sized tripod with me. Sometimes I have a tabletop tripod and a clamp with me traveling to the destination just in case I need them. However after one or two outings I am able to evaluate whether or not I need them. Oftentimes many locations don't allow you to deploy a tripod on-location (Hello London & Italy! xD ). It is amazing how much I can get out of those Sony RAW files without much noise and banding issues. Can anyone provide RAW files from a Q2 and a Sony camera both shot at the same location with the same low light condition? Thank you!

I haven't been getting out much for the past few weeks, but I ventured out yesterday for a coffee at my favourite coffee shop and grabbed this whilst I was there. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 @ 1250iso. Gerry

From Teddys Softbar in Oslo, this guy suddenly sat down at the table right in front of me with his headset on, seemed to be in his own world Leica SL / 80 Lux-R

Was out shooting yesterday evening with my friend Trond. He usually shoots the streets of Oslo with his Oly-kit, but this night we also brought out our Land cameras. The picture is taken in the backyard of Teddys Softbar, where it was a concert last night. Leica SL / 80 lux-R

Same setting, and old pub in Oslo. Picture taken with available light inside the pub, only used a small reflector to brighten her face. B/W conversion in Silver Efex, Tri-X preset with some adjustments. Leica SL / 80 Summilux-R.

While I was sat having coffee in my favourite spot this morning this young lady came and stood immediately in front of me. To her I must have been invisible because I simply raised my camera to my eye, focused, and pressed the button. She was probably only about a meter away from me but her thoughts were obviously somewhere else. I used available light. Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron-M f2. 1/180 f2.8 @ 320iso. This is full frame and processed in Lightroom Classic. Gerry

I have shot very little this past year for various health and Covid reasons. Here is one that I was pleased with from my favourite café. It is a grab shot as I just had the camera resting on the table and didn't look through the viewfinder. Leica M7 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Kodak T-Max 400 at 400. No exposure values recorded. Commercially processed and scanned at home. Gerry

I am slowly managing to get out more now, ands back in my usual coffee shop yesterday. I couldn't resist taking a candid image of this young lady at the counter because of her height. She must have been about 1.8 metres. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit f2.5 @ 1250 iso. 1/250 @ f2.8 and post-processed in Lightroom Classic. Gerry

Student life is returning to my favourite café. I took this image about a metre from the young lady without being noticed, she was so deep in thought. this image is uncropped. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 - 1/60 f4 @ 800iso. Gerry

I was in two minds over this - I nearly dumped it but I liked its 'filmic' qualities so much I decided to keep it, and I now think it is one of the best images I have taken for a long time. To me it has the wonderful atmosphere of uprated Tri-X. Agree or don't agree, I don't really care, I just LOVE it - and wasn't it HC-B who said “Sharpness is a bourgeois concept". Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 @ 1250 iso using available light only. 1/15th @ f5.6. Gerry
