    Because Voigtlander has released the VM Apo Lanthar 50 mm I thought you might be interested to see a comparison of the Apo Summicron and the Apo Lanthar. I have tested with the Sony A7R4. If you see the pictures you can hardly tell them apart. The Apo Lantar is a gem for its money. Contrast and sharpness of both lenses are full open already impressive. The Leica has the advantage that it has the same quality and is even smaller then the Lanthar For all pictures see

    All; I own a CV 50mm F2 APO Lanthar and like it very much. Pretty 'clinical' as 50mm lenses go. Quite similar to my previous 50SL APO. Other than the extra stop, what would I gain from picking up a current 50mm F/1.4 ASPH Summilux? I read all of the MTF stuff, etc. I wouldn't be replacing the APO Lanthar, but supplementing it with the LUX. It appears as if LUX has a bit more character. Sharp, but not clinical, and seems to be a better lens for shooting people, portraits and so on. Thoughts? Thanks! -Brad
