Is it possible to use older Nikkor lenses on a Leica R body? It seems the other way round is possible, but I would be interested to use a Nikon Nikkor lens on a Leica R camera. I assume it is not possible to use Nikon lenses on analgue Leica M bodies. Lex

Hi, to everybody that does portraits with m lenses and wants to get closer to the subject/model thsi adapter will ad this functionality: DLX Adapter Leica M Linse an L Mount Fotodiox DLX Stretch Objektivadapter Leica M Linse an L-Mount Kamera sold by lumiere shop : https://lumiere-shop.de maybe there is another shop in GB and the US that does provide the adapter. I know there is one from light lens lab, but they struggle to deliver. so as I am waiting for it to compare , I got this and I am very happy with it.

The newly released Sigma 14mm f1.8 Art lens is discussed in several threads, but it might be convenient to gather info in one dedicated thread. The lens is available in Nikon and Canon mounts. As a guidance to new/potential buyers, here are some findings after playing with three copies of the lens, all in Nikon mounts. The testing has been tailored for night/star/northern light/etc. photography, i.e., with the deep sky as a major component of the image. In the following I only discuss sharpness across the image when the lenses are set wide open (f1.8) and at near infinity. Other optical qualities are, of course, of importance as well (aberration, astigmatism, coma, etc.), as well as other shooting conditions. As mentioned, three copies of the Sigma lens have been tested, all in Nikon mount, but I guess the results are transferable to Canon mounts as well. The tests are done with Nikon D5 and Leica SL, the latter with two Novoflex Nikon-to-Leica adapters (one manual and one electronic): (0) Yes, even infinity needs accurate focusing! Therefore, forget the infinity marking on the lens (as on most lenses). (1) Set the lens to manual focus; it appears that the focusing is less reliable when the lens is set to auto focus (despite auto focus is not activated by any camera buttons). Don't ask why and I can not prove it, this is a suspicion I have based on the testing. (2) Live view on Nikon D5, at full zoom, is only marginally able to guide correct infinity focus. Using a loupe on the back screen is recommended, possibly needed. (3) Live view on Leica SL, at 10x magnification, is much more accurate than the Nikon live view (nothing new here) and can be trusted regarding infinity focus. Thumbs up for the SL! (4) In my case, the manual Novoflex adapter gives even focus throughout most of the image. This is not the case for the electronic adapter; when the center of the image is in focus, the edges smear, and vice versa. So there are differences in the mount precision. This does not imply/prove that manual Novoflex adapters are more accurate than the electronic one, rather that differences between adapters can be expected. So for accurate infinity focus with non-SL lenses, testing of several adapters might be required (actually, I have two manual Novoflex adapters, with one being a `keeper', the other less so). So adapters can be tricky. (5) Irrespective of the FF body used (Nikon D5 or Leica SL), copies of the Sigma 14mm f1.8 ART at f1.8 show differences regarding edge/corner sharpness when the central part of the image is in focus. Vice versa, when the focus point is set near(er) to the corners, the central part of the image may turn soft. So some copies of the lens do not stand the task. Actually, the excellent SL EVF can be used to judge the lens sharpness across most of the image. Set the focus somewhere in the frame, and 'walk' around in the EVF to check the focus throughout the frame (note that we are talking about focus near infinity). (6) Of the three lenses tested on D5 and SL, the latter with the manual Novoflex adapter, one copy is fine - being sharp across the image with only weak softness in the outmost corners. The lens is sharper than the Nikon 14-25 f2.8G zoom, a highly regarded lens (despite the Sigma is shot at f1.8). One copy is perhaps acceptable, the third copy fails wrt edge/corner sharpness. (7) For all three copies of the lens, optimal sharpness across the image appears to be obtained when the focus is put about 1/3 off the centre of the image. (8) I find accurate, manual focussing somewhat tricky with the lens; very small rotation of the focus ring moves the focus point too far/quickly, so I would prefer a longer focus throw length (but I guess this might influence the lens' autofocus). In conclusion, the new Sigma can be fine, even used wide open at f1.8, but testing is needed... Used on the SL, testing of adapters are also needed... Images will follow after some shooting.

I'd like to use an 1:1 adapter for the macro-elmarit-R 60mm lens. I see that the adapter originally made for the lens was Leica product code no. 14198 and was later replaced by a newer adapter, product code 14256. is there any real benefit of one versus the other? I assume that the sizes must be nearly the same. Thanks!

Hallo Kann ich ein Staeble Braun Color Ultralit 50 mit M39 Anschluss per Adapter an einer Leica M9 adaptieren. Gibt es verschiedene Adapter? Geht die Fokussierung über den Sucher? Was empfehlt ihr mir. Ist das Ultralit geeignet für diese Kamera? Grüsse Michael

Hallo! Vorweg: Ich mache immer noch gerne Dias mit meinen R-Kameras. Nachdem ich eine Zeit lang versucht habe, meine Objektive an der Canon zu verwenden, aber damit absolut nicht zufrieden war, bin ich nun zu Olympus gekommen. Und hier klappt es wunderbar. Der einzige Nachteil ist der 2fache Crop, was die Verwendung der Ww-Objektive sinnlos macht. Aber die Belichtung stimmt immer, der Stabi ist perfekt und der E-Sucher ist einfach klasse. Allerdings musste ich leider feststellen, dass meine R-Objektive im Vergleich mit den O-Objektiven nicht wirklich besser sind. Das 60mm-Makro von Olympus ist eindeutig besser als das 60er Leica. Sogar das 100er Makro ist nur minimal besser. Auch das 3,4/180 (bei Olympus dann 360mm) , dass ja unbestritten super ist, kann mit dem neuen 2,8/40-150 von Olympus nicht mithalten. Traurig aber wahr.

Hallo Forum Ich bin schwer am Überlegen, ob ich mir die Leica T zulegen soll. Aktuell nutze ich eine Canon 6D (Vollformat), bevorzugt mit Zeiss-Objektiven (manueller Fokus, Fokus wird aber im Sucher elektronisch signalisiert, heisst wohl Fokus-Peaking?). Ich las nun, dass Novoflex einen Canon-EF auf Leica T Adapter in der Pipeline haben soll? Erscheinungstermin? Alternativ müsste ich aktuell wohl zwei Adapter hintereinander (T auf R? und dann auf EF) benutzen. Meine Frage(n) zur T sind neben dem Adapter eigentlich folgende: Ist es richtig, dass es kein FokusPeaking gibt und ich somit immer nur mit dem Auge richtig fokussieren muss? Das ist als Brillenträger in der Dämmerung sicher manchmal schweirig Inwieweit bringt der aufstekbare Sucher etwas (GPS benutze ich in der Kamera eher nicht). Ist ein reiner DNG-Modus möglich? Ich fotografiere mit der 6D ausschließlich in RAW (heisst dort dann .cr2) Wenn DNG und JPG zusammen eingestellt sind, kann man die Formate jeweils auf den beiden Speichern (intern und SD) getrennt ablegen? Wenn ich nur in JPG aufnehme (Schwarz-Weiß), ist die Bildqualität bis A3 oder gar A2verwendbar? Also wirklich druckbar ohne sich schämen zu müssen was die technische Qualität angeht? Ich denke als Konkurrenzkamera aktuell an die Sony A7II. Vollformat und mit Adapter mit den sehr guten Zeiss Linsen verwendbar. Ich will weg von den DSLR-Bodys Ach ja, ich bin im Bereich Landschaft, Portrait, Available Light mit eher "künstlerischen" Ambitionen wie Verwischen, Bokeh Spiele, Doppelbelichtungen und vorwiegend in Schwarz-Weiß unterwegs. Allerdings leiste ich mir die M Monochrom erst zur Rente :-D Freuen würde ich mich über Antworten von Besitzern der T oder sogar Sony und T (solls ja geben) bzw. Bildermachern die ähnliche Ambitionen wie ich haben. DANKE! Ich hatte beide Kameras jeweils einige Minuten im Fotogeschäft Sonnenstr. München in der Hand. Beide liegen gut in der Hand, wobei die T schon schwerer und größer ist. Nächste Woche versuche ich mal mit einem eigenen Objektiv vor Ort mit beiden Kams Fotos zu schießen.

Hallo, ich habe eine ganze Reihe von R-Objektiven, mit denen ich gerne digital fotografieren möchte. Ich hatte immer gehofft, das früher oder später ein digitales R-Gehäuse auf den Markt kommt, aber die R-Besitzer hat man wohl links liegen lassen.... Mein Wissensstand ist der, dass ich mit allen Adapter-Lösungen an Fremdgehäusen weder Zeitautomatik nutzten kann und auch nicht ohne Brennweitenverlängerung auskomme. (Beides wäre mir sehr wichtig) Meine Frage wäre, gibt es eine Lösung am Markt, die das kann und die ich nicht kenne? vielen Dank, Tohi

Hallo Alle Ich bin ein völliger Leica Anfänger... Habe erst eine Leica R5 erstanden. Ist nicht einfach, das passende Objektiv in meiner Preisklasse dazu zu finden. Habe auch eine Telyt f-20cm 1:4,5, passt aber offensichtlich nicht auf die R5. Existiert ein Adapter um das Objektiv trotzdem mit der R5 brauchen zu können?

Kann jemand der noch auf dem Event in Börlin ist und einer T + M->T Adapter habhaft werden kann, das Handling testen ? (Sind M Objektivprofile via Menu auswählbar ? .....)

Hey people, I just registered to this website today on February 11th, 2011. I also just purchased a D3 and I'm looking over the lenses I have as a selection. Ive looked at Sigmas, Olys and some Panasonics. Kinda pricey. Then again, I DID buy a Leica. Whoda thought? Anywho, Im seeing a few pictures of people with their 4/3 mount adapters. I looked on ebay and around the internets at some examples of them. I know their limitations. What I would like to know is What mount are you using / would you suggest? I want to buy an M lens or two and use them on my D3 and I need an adapter. I know Chinas got em for like 15$, but are those shit? Ive bought some stuff from China before but nothing like this. Also, how hard is focusing on a D3? I know the viewfinder is small and it gets dimmer if you stop down a lot. If I plan on manual focusing, is it going to be really difficult, or something Im used to? (I have Canon SLRs too and I can focus those). Any help is appreciated. Lastly, any M-mount recommendations? I saw a dude who had a Voigt 12mm 5.6. That sounds good to me, but dang thats another 800.

moin! Der Akku der M9 / M8 hat ja verdächtig genau die größe dreier AAA Batterien und zufälliger weise auch die gleiche Spannung und Ladung... Wär also ein Adapter in dem man normale Batterien stecken kann denkbar? Oder gibt es so etwas sogar schon? So etwas könnte praktisch sein wenn man mal länger abseits der Zivilisation unterwegs ist.

Wie ich gehört habe, soll das Schneider-Kreuznach PC-TS Apo-Digitar 5.6 / 120 HM Aspheric auf http://schneider-kreuznach.de/pdf/foto/Tilt-Shift-Objektive.pdf auch für das Leica S System (mit Unterstützung von Leica, die dafür einen Adapter / Bayonettanschluss bauen) verfügbar werden. Hi there. Couple of days ago I decided to try some LTM glass on my Leica MP and bought a new Fotodiox 50/75 adapter. While it worked perfectly I was surprised and mostly heart broken to see that the mid line of the lens mount had been scratched on my beloved camera which I saved for such a long time to buy. The scratch is superficial as far as I can see and on the 4,5,6 and 7 o'clock directions (The photo which I share on here doesn't do them justice. They are more visible than what looks like here). I didn't have time to develop my film so I cannot say if it damaged the mount on funtional level. But I want to learn your experiences with similar situations if you had any. I read that these things can happen even when you use native lenses on cameras but as far as I know for the last 9 months my Voigtlander 35mm f/2 Ultron didn't damage or let alone scratch the lens mount on my MP. I reattached my Voigtlander after experiencing this situation and shooting another roll of film with it to see if there is any problem. Is there a possibility that I damaged my camera functionally? Can my Voigtlander be attached to the lens mount securely and without further damage either to the lens mount or the lens itself? What are you thoughts on Fotodiox adapters? The adapter that I bought seems that it is made of a material that is not similar to the material that Leica uses on its mount. I would be grateful to read your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Hello I just received my Voigtlaender VM/E Close FocusLens Adapter for E mount ( Sony a9II) but once mounted there is a very little play between the lens and the adapter. Does anyone in here have any experience with that adapter as far as a little play? I ordered another one to compare but I 'm wondering if it is a common problem Voigtlaender?

Hey all! So while being in the heat of the moment, me dumba*s, who never has anything but M-Lenses on his CL, wanted to change lenses and in a moment of brainlessness removed the M-to-L-Adapter with the lens and with a routined muscle-memory started mounting my M lens on the CL without the M-to-L-Adapter ... for a split second... immediately removed the lens again realizing the Adapter is missing... But the bayonet of the M Lens bumped the inside of the CL's mount slightly, and after inspection at home the bayonet seemed to have scraped the inside of the CL mount, this super matte anti reflective area around the sensor. Blew with the rocketblower to clean it, and then in a moment of indecisive nervousness I took a (what I deemed to be clean and soft) microfiber cloth and tried cleaning the scratched area to see if the scratch maybe is mostly just leftover dirt and not a real scratch. Turned out yes. Not really a scratch, black coating is fine! But my cloth has polished the black matte paint and I'm left with a ... less matte black and more shiny coating at that area now... Yeah I know weird topic but I never ever had to deal with that area in all those years, most full frame camera don't have a large enough attack-area so that this coating might be damaged anyways, but this gorgeous CL has an APS-C in a Full Frame L Mount area, so the anti reflective black coating is rather a large area. Does that matter? Could become problematic that it is now more shiny? Or doesn't matter at all as long as it is black and no silver shines through? Y'all have a nice day

the manual says "This function is not available in conjunction with APS-C lenses and in some cases with some lenses attached via adapter." has anyone tried multishots with adapted lenses via a leica M/R>L adapter ?
