  2. So: Whatever you want to call them, for now I will call them hot pixels. They appear in blue and red. I wrote a long letter to a guy from Leica Germany. He said I should do the "factory reset" and the camera would do a pixel remap and the problem will be solved. It turned out this was not true, the problem still exists. And I cant find a certain pattern of how or when they appear. Here is an example: Two 100% crops of: 400ASA / 2 sec / f 9.5 and 400ASA / 8 sec / f 19 (the pics have an exposure in Lightroom +1.20 and some other adjustments) In the Leica User Manual it says on page 34: Long exposure times can be associated with picture noise. To reduce this annoying phenomenon, the Leica S automatically takes a second “black picture” (taken with the shutter closed) after pictures with slow shutter speeds. The noise present in this parallel picture is then digitally “subtracted” from the data for the real picture. and: With shutter speeds slower than 1⁄2s, the message "Noise Reduction" appears in the monitor. However, in my experience the camera does noise reduction only from 4s and up. Thats how on one picture you can't see hardly any of those hot pixels, as noise reduction has been made (8s), but on the other picture (2s exposure) you see things you dont want to give to your client. I was really hoping for the new firmware update to take care of this. But it doesnt. We had another shooting a few weeks ago at 100ASA. The photos had similar, especially red, hot pixels in the dark areas. I will post photos later.
  3. I am just wondering if there are others out there waiting like me for their S 007 to arrive. I have been told "next two weeks", "next month" and I still wait. Just wondering if other have received theirs and if a lot are waiting.
  4. The new Firmware 2.0 for the Leica S 007 is out. The following has been done: _ Improved auto focus performance especially in poor lighting environments _ Improved white balance setting Color Temperature (better skin tone reproduction when working with flash equipment) - Long press on the rear click wheel in Auto Review had no function. - Now a long press on the rear click wheel in Auto Review leads to 100% zoom (short cut) - Sometimes a wrong exposure occurs after changing the lens. - Wrong focus position after lens initialization (e.g. after stand-by) is fixed. - Selftimer mode was not combined with Mirror Up. - WLAN setting, AutoISO and exposure compensation is now saved correctly in the User Profiles - Leica Cable Release S (Order No. 16029) is fully supported now If GPS is off, no GPS data is stored in the image files now I will try to do another post here soon regarding red and blue dots in the shadows at some exposures. It seems that this problem hasn't been addressed in the current firmware update. Also, finally, Lightroom 6.3. is out and it should be possible to use all the profiles for the 007. (6.2.2 seemed to crash all the time, I had never used it, stayed on 6.0 till yesterday). I haven't yet checked it out very carefully. One step at a time, slowly, this camera becomes usable. Jorma.
