Taken with Leica M4-P and 35mm Summarit f2.5 using Ilford HP5+ film. This is from the first film I have home-processed in16 years and I processed it in Tetenal Paranol S (the rebranded Rodinal formula). I managed to control the resulting grain using LR Classic, bit I won't use the dev again. I bought a 'starter kit' and it was included in that but I have Ilford DD-X on order for the next film. I should have remembered Rodinal from many years ago. Gerry

Hi I have no 400 speed in the freezer so decided do to try something different, TMax400. I have never used a T grain film before, only HP5, FP4 and PlusX. Is there a good staple starting point for a developer. Not particularly worried about grain, just a nice sharp easy to print/scan negative with good tonality and would appreciate some pointers. Also, does TMax benefit from a prewash? Cheers, Julian

to remember by: Rodinal was patented 125 years ago in January 27, 1891 by Dr. Momme Andresen (Agfa, Berlin). It was the first product sold by Agfa and is the oldest* photographic product still available (2016). * and in my household the "oldest" used product (The brown lemonade with "C" was patented in 1892/96 )

Hey guys! I just developed my first film at home. Tri X 400 at 1600. Shot on my M6 with a 35 Summicron and Yellow Filter. This is my go to setup. Today I tried do develop my first role at home with the following recipe: -18:30 in Rodinal 1+50 at 19°C/68°F -Agitate 30 seconds initially, then 2 inversions every 2 minutes -Rinse/stop with 19°C/68°F water for 1 minute -Adox Adofix 1+9 fixer for 4.5 minutes -1 min wash -Adox Adoflo 35 seconds with distilled water -hang to dry Bye the way, I know Rodinal is probably the most inappropriate developer one can use for pushing tri x at 1600. Here ist the outcome. Strange streaks all over the negatives.. So much grain and a strange tone curve. Any ideas what caused this problem?
