SOS HELP!!! I dropped my Leica M4 and according to the NYC Camera Doctor repair team, the prism that creates the ghost image in the rangefinder is dislocated and needs to be replaced. They suggested that I send it directly into Leica for repairs, becuase the rangefinder is a complicated mechanism they wern't equipt to fix. They also let me know that Leica, located in New Jersey, dosen't do specific repairs and will want to do a full tune-up. Money is a concern, and I'm not prepared to pay $1000-ish if I can at all avoid it. I just want my range-finder to be functional. Has anyone had rangefinder work done, espeically on an M4? Would you advise having this work done by Leica or an outside repair person, such as DAG? Any experience or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. E

A drizzly, cold, damp afternoon on New York City's famed High Line gave a moody, monochrome atmosphere which called for this shot to be captured in B&W. This M240 is my first Leica since my M2. This camera made me fall in love with B&W all over again. I could so trade this in for the M262 Monochrom.

I was able to put a few rolls of CineStill film through my new (to me) M7 last weekend. If you haven't tried CineStill, you should give a shot! It's Hollywood movie stock that has been re-purposed for 35mm stills and normal C-41 processing. It comes in 800T (low light Tunsgten balanced) and 50D (bright Daylight). It's a really nice alternative to "regular" film. Forgiving and super easy to scan without a lot of fiddling around in post. There are some color casts for sure, but that's all part of the look. And the 800T has no anti-halation layer, so highlights get beautifully soft! Love it. All taken with the M7 0.85 + VM 50/1.5. "Scanned" with an A7ii + Tamron SP 90mm and lightbox. 800T - Very "Arty" color, and nice grain. 50D - Reminds me of Portra 160, but less grain, sharper and a little more "pop".

This is from my trip to the US in 2001 and was taken on the Ellis Island Ferry using the Leica M6 and TX400CN. I thought long and hard about posting this image, and finally came to the conclusion that less able-bodied people are a part of our society and hopefully this image shows a caring relationship and inclusion in the world. The Gathering Tri-x 400, iso 800, ilfosol 3 developer, 1+9 for 9:10min, water stop bath for 10 sec, ilford rapid fixer 1+4 for 3 min., 5 min rinse. Camera: Leica M6 ttl, 35mm summicron @ F/8 Overall I'm pleased with the result of my first two rolls. If you are afraid of developing your own, don't be. I was very hesitant myself and I finally built the courage to at least try. It's pretty cool to see your work come to life through your own process and development. Give it a try!
