The focusing feeling of the M lenses is exceptional. Soft and without any initial hesitation. This lens action is important for fast and accurate focusing. Now I have tried several Summicron-SL lenses (75 and 35mm). They all had an initial ”stickiness” and a somewhat harsh feeling when turning the focusing ring. Like the greasing hade aged. Initially I thought the focusing would improve during use, but no. It does not have to be so. My 75mm made an eight week round trip to Wetzlar returning in much improved condition. Today I bought a 35 mm and to Wetzlar it went. Am I being picky or is it perhaps bad luck? Should you not expect the new Summicron-SL to have ”buttery smooth” focusing feeling without a return trip?

Dear all, I maybe the latest GAS syndrom victim as I bought a Leica SL + 90-280 to use on a trip along with my M(240) and CL. Could be useful to photography whales and penguins in Cape Town I am wondering how you set your SL when using manual lenses (M lenses in my case) ? On the CL, I use the wheel to quickly zoom in, nail focus and shoot. I came to like that method. But on the SL ? I found the default setting quite cumbersom (thought I've been playing around with the camera for 1/2 hour only...) How do you set your SL to be efficient and fast at focusing using the zoom-in possibility ? Is it possible to set a kind of automatic 10* zoom when you frame ? thank you for your answers ! Didier

Dear all, I had the opportunity to handle the CL for a few minutes this week. I have been considering for some time now either : . to add a SL to my M(240) . replace my M(240) with a M10 in order to gain better high ISO IQ and easier use for my 2 favorite lenses (right) now, ie Noctilux 50 and Summilux 75 (I use the a lot to shoot pictures of my 6 week old daughter) I like the way the CL handles, and wonder if another solution would not be to buy one for use with those lenses : I don't mind the crop factor for this, compact size is nice to take it with the M, and the EVF looks pretty good (although in my view nothing beats the M OVF as a window to the world and frame as I want - but to focus difficult lenses, EVF seems nice...). Has anyone tried the Noct / CL combo, or at least the manual focus capabilities ? Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts Didier

I am new to the X Vario and Leica in general. One purpose I have purchased the camera for is for general walk about and street photography. I have the EVF2 as I am used to looking through a viewfinder with my DSLR D810. I have had a SLR for 44 years now and admittedly this camera will take some getting used to. So I have three general questions: Is the Autofocus good enough that I should rely on it for most of those "fleeting moment" shots For deliberate manual focusing situations can you offer any sugguestions for how best to have the camera set up so I literally can just "frame and shoot" while in street or family situations? e.g. zone focusing, Does the technique outlined here make sense, and are all the limitations therein still valid with 1.1 version of Firmware. Thanks in advance. Mike
