Hello to everyone, Discovered that only on Lightroom it's possible to view the Q3 presets downloaded from FOTOS, Meanwhile I can see the Leica presets in the LR thumbnails preview, when I try to develop the file, presets deseapearig permanently. Till now for my developing flow I always used Bridge so I'm afraid to wrong something in LR. There is someone could kindly help me to understand where I wrong ?

Leica Q3 convert to B&W profile in Lightroom

Since three weeks I travel around with the Leica Q3 and I love it a lot….. But I do have a question, maybe someone can explain or knows a solution? When I convert my jpg (largest size) to a B&W profile within Lightroom, I see strange lines/blocks in the sky. In this example you can see it on the right upper corner (lines in the white clouds) On another photo I can see little blocks.. On this site I have to upload a smaller size jpg, but I can see it in the large converted version too. I do my editing on my Ipad, so when, after my travels, I am at home, I ‘ll have a look on my computer too. Could it have to do with the screen capability of my Ipad? Or is there another reason? Hello!I just got the q3 about a month ago, love the camera but something is bothering me. I find myself cranking up the wb to get “normal” tones(around 8000 or more). Dear all, I just pruchased the Leica SL2 and APO Summicron SL 35mm F/2. However, I could not find the Camera Profile and Lens Profile for the new gears. It is strange as other photos taken by Leica M11 were recognized by Lightroom correctly. Please find the screenshots for your reference. I am using MacBook and Lightroom Classic. Hello. I would ask for opinions. Which is a better aplication for processing exclusively and only Leica M dng files (Leica MD, Leica M10)? 70% is a conversion to black and white, 30% in collor. I would ask for your experience and opinions between two applications, LIGHTROOM and CAPTURE ONE. Which gives better end results and why? It's only for Leica M files and not files of other camera brands. Thank you very much. Best regards.

Hello all, I shoot DNG nearly exclusively. I noticed that when I bring the files shot with the internal M11 Monochrome profile, that once imported into Lightroom, they are no longer black and white. The M11 profiles do not seem to be available in Lightroom. Has anyone solved this? Thanks, Dave

I just upgraded to a later Mac, with which I've got a newer OS. That has enabled me to upgrade to the current version 11.5 of Lightroom Classic. Previously, when I made a JPEG of a raw file and pointed the import dialog of LR to the folder where the JPEG and the raw file are located, LR would see both files and would recognize that the JPEG was new and that the raw file was already in its database and allow me to import the JPEG. When I ask the new version of LR to import from the folder containing both the raw and the JPEG versions of the file, only the raw file appears (and correctly shows that it's already in the catalog). The JPEG file doesn't show at all in the import window. I haven't been able to find out online how to make the JPEG visible to Lightroom Classic for import. Any ideas what I'm overlooking would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I've noticed that the on-camera profiles for R lenses, automatically applied in Lightroom after importing DNGs if the correct lens was selected in the camera menu, often overcorrect vignetting at mid-apertures (f/5.6 to 11), resulting, in slightly brighter far corners. I had to set some vignetting in Effects menu to compensate for this, or even better turn off the on-camera profile before the shot (but then I have no EXIFs, of course, nor other corrections for distortion and/or chromatic aberration). Has someone else noticed that? I'm running v3.0 firmware. Thanks

Hi, Apologies if this is a dumb/naive/inappropriate request, but I am wondering whether any of you know of decent (preferably free) monochrome presets for Lightroom that can be used with SL2 files. I used to use Silver Efex Pro 2 as part of the Nik Collection, but I can't use that now on my iMac. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have both a Leica Q and a D-Lux 7 and I use Lightroom to edit my pics. I have quite a bit of purchased presets as well. With the Q, no issue at all. With the D-Lux, even though my picture are taken in colour and imported in RAW format, some of the presets think the picture is black and white and show me options only in B&W. I have to manually go to the Colour option and click on it to see what the reworked photo looks in colour. Anyone with the same issue ? Thanks.

Hi everyone, just a quick question. I am planning to buy the new MacBook Pro 2019, should I go for 32 or 64GB RAM? I have already made up my mind that I will choose the fastest processor and the biggest graphic card. I am using Lightroom and Photoshop and you know, there are always a few Safari and Mail windows open, iTunes in the background, that sort of thing. I am replacing my mid 2012 MacBook Pro and I am hoping this new machine will last me another eight years, so keeping in mind that the machine should still be quite usable in say, five years time, 32 or 64 GB? I am hoping this new machine will last me another eight years 😊 Thanks in advance! -
Moin Leude, ich bin eigentlich ein eingefleischter Farbfotograf, wollte mich aber mal an schwarzweiß versuchen. Praktischerweise gibt es ja zwei schwarzweiß Modi, die aber (natürlich) nur schwarzweiße JPEGs produzieren. Im L+RAW Modus werden dann noch zusätzliche RAW Files angelegt, die aber (natürlich) farbig sind. Insgeheim hatte ich gehofft, dass in die RAW Files schon ein schwarzweiß Profil eingebettet ist – ähnlich wie in den Crop Modi ja auch schon der Bildausschnitt im RAW File eingestellt ist. Da die Kamera das nicht erledigt, bin ich also auf der Suche nach einem Profil für Lightroom, das möglichst nah an den JPEGs dran ist. Das Adobe Monochrome ist leider nicht exakt passend. Natürlich kann man das einfach als Ausgangsbasis nutzen und dann an den Reglern rumschrauben, wie es einem gut passt. Daher gibt es vielleicht hier im Forum jemanden, der so in Profil schon hat, weiß wo man eines bekommen kann oder auch weiß, wie man eines anlegen kann (ohne allzuviel Rumgerate)? Danke!

Whenever I use the in camera filters they don't stay on when I upload the RAW to Lightroom. The preview of the image shows it with the ffilter but when I click on it it goes back to normal where there is no filter applied. Please help.

I'm not a heavy user of Lightroom CC, I tend to use it simply for easy processing of the odd photo on my phone or iPad. I've noticed the Monochrome profile for my M10-P is missing. I have the colour profile, not the monochrome option. Works perfectly on Lightroom Classic on my desktop, just missing on LR CC. Anyone any clues as to why and how I put it right. Thanks

Hey Guys! I’m new to this forum since I got my Q2 today :) I imported DNGs to Capture One 20 and the colors are completely off - way way over saturated and shifting towards magenta right after import with no adjustments applied. In Lightroom the colors I see represent what I see in camera. What’s the reason for that? I read that capture one 20 deals with native DNGs just fine. Is there a fix for it? A setting I’m not seeing etc? thanks :)

Many years ago I used Bridge and CR + PS for my photography. Then I moved exclusively to LR, unless I needed to do a composite, which I did in PS. Now I am reconsidering PS for the ability to do more complex selective adjustment layers. For example, selective curves, which LR cannot do. Also, PS now has some useful photography filters with liquify and all the focus/blur filters. But, Bridge seems a poor alternative to LR for cataloguing. I make extensive use of Collections in LR. I recently attended a photo workshop in Cuba. Very nice... Nearly all the participants were professional or very experienced non-pros. They all used Bridge and PS. However, none were knowledgable of LR too and couldn't tell me why. In fact, many said LR reduces all images to 8-bit not 16. Not true. Some also thought LR was destructive and PS isn't. Not true. So, like many, I am perplexed by Adobe's product mix with CC. What are your thoughts?

Where can one find the battery charge level? What's the best way to extend the battery life? If I shoot DNG/JPG, where do the JPGs end up? I don’t see them when I import the files into Lightroom. Are they the ones transferred over to the Leica Photos? If one shoots A for aperture, shutter speed, and focus, is it the same as Full Auto in Scene Mode? I notice the photos I take in Black and White turn to color when I import them into Lightroom. Importing the B&W photo into Leica Fotos shows it is B&W, which I assume is so that it can be shared. My question is: Are there specific Lightroom presets that show the Leica style? I occasionally get the red box with spinning circle. Why does it do that? I assume it’s writing to disk but I’ve had occasions where I haven’t taken a photo at all, so there’s nothing to “write to disk.” Can I use the Leica Q2 LCD panel to focus/shoot like my Canon 5D Mark IV? Maybe I’m wrong but I recall seeing a video of a Leica Q doing so. Does changing the user profile also change what’s found on the favorites menu? Is there any sort of logic for how to set up the FN versus the wheel button? I appreciate their usefulness but I find I can’t remember what’s where and I end up going back to the menu button. Any suggestions on how to set it up logically?

Hi I have just came back from a trip where i used my Q2 for the first time massively and when i am importing the color are just becoming totally off. I tried the trial of Lightroom CC Classic and it definitely can show the right color. See below screenshots. There were no adjustment made at all in all case. Anyone having similar color issue with the perpetual version of Lightroom ? Many thanks -
For color images, I've been often using a VSCO preset as a starting point. I now find that the Leica M-Looks Pro presets give me a better starting point and usually produce better skin tones, and also require little or no use of the LR Structure slider. That is good because the Structure slider can easily result in "haloes". Someone told me that the M-Looks presets were originally made to give an M9-look to M240 images, although I don't know if that's true. In any case, they work well with M10 files. The M-Look presets work somewhat differently from VSCO presets, which apply changes on top of the settings you've already made in LR; M-Looks presets revert to the original DNG and apply changes to that. That means, for example, if you've already adjusted the White Balance, when you apply an M-Looks preset the WB revers to its As Shot setting. For B&W, I've been using Silver Efex; but, now I find that with the M-Looks presets I can get a look that is often as good as what I get with Silver Efex; not always, but better than I can do in just using LR with VSCO. Actually, I've only been using two of the M-Looks presets: Real Film (Typ 4) and Real Film (Typ 5) B&W. The Real Film presets can be bought for $15, while the whole Leica M-Looks Pro package costs $40. But I don't recall whether the smaller Real Film package is sold on the rawpresets.com site, or if you have to go to the original developer's site, whose name you can find on the rawpresets.com site. If you try M-Looks please let me know what you think. -
The Q2 DNG file is around 80++ MB but exporting as JPEG after processing in LR, I noticed that the JPEG file size becomes relatively small. For experimental purpose, I intentionally set the LR export criteria as follow :- 1) JPEG image quality to 100 2) Resize to fit as 100 Megapixels + 300 ppi The JPEG export file size never exceeds more than 25 MB. It is around 18 MB to 23 MB. Exporting as DNG file with either 1) embed fast load data or 2) embed original RAW file resulted in file size of about 38 MB only. Is the JPEG and DNG exporting file size normal ? Thank you

The current Lightroom Classic CC 7.3 update has major problems. It crashes frequently as discussed on the Adobe Forums, and also has problems with VSCO presets. I've had both of these problems and decided to roll back to v7.2. Adobe has recognized the problems, and I'll either wait until these are solved before trying v7.3 again, or shall simply wait for v7.4 before trying to upgrade again. You can read the article on v7.3 by Thom Hogan, which raises other issues, but doesn't deal with these two problems, before deciding if you're interest at all in this upgrade. Please be so kind as to limit discussion in this thread of problems with v7.3 and solutions that may emerge.
