  1. Walking by the River Rhine near Duesseldorf sometimes gives nice views. Specially looking back, as I did yesterday. Picture taken with my Q, 1/3200s, F 4.0, Iso 100
  2. I will be away on 1st of January so I am posting January's theme now but please continue to add posts as normal to December's thread until it is closed. Firstly just a short diversion to acknowledge two of your achievements with the Barnack's Monthly series of threads. December 2015 saw the total number of pictures you have posted in Barnack's Monthly pass 20,000! What a marvelous achievement and thank you so much to everyone who has contributed. December 2015 also saw the number of views of Barnack's Monthly threads by forum members and others pass 500,000, which is an astounding achievement that I can scarcely comprehend. Half a million views. I'd never have thought that this was remotely possible when Pete Taylor, Elansprint72, started Barnack's Monthly in October 2008 (I took over in December 2010 when Pete chose to pursue other interests). And yet here we are, so another huge thank you to everyone for your efforts and contributions! Moderator Pop has very kindly assembled links to all of the past Barnack's Monthly threads as a single archive that can be found here: Barnack's Monthly Index. Thank you, Pop! Thank you to everyone who took part in December's Barnack's Monthly theme, which was filled with a wonderful array of over 650 pictures and excellent ideas and interpretations of the theme! Thank you to everyone who helped to make it another successful month and in particular to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it an interesting and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us! The Barnack's Monthly theme for January 2016 is: Light and Dark. This means any picture that particularly works owing to light or dark elements. It could be the dawn light sweeping across the savannah, the dawn light sweeping across Brixton High Road, a black cat in a coal cellar, a white cat in a coal cellar, a white kitten romping in the snow, the sun's rays glinting off crystal, flare trails from a lens, a piano keyboard, shadowy pictures of shadowy people, a black feather, swirls in a Cappuccino, a bar code, the sun's rays piercing a stained-glass window, a spotlight picking out a solitary person or group, a black and white police vehicle, a black cat with white paws, a white blaze on a cart horse's head - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free! It would be a help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view but it's not compulsory. Members have asked if we'd very kindly name the camera and lens used - if you can remember - because it's interesting to know but, again, it's not compulsory just helpful. The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with this month's theme in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting! It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures, seeing others' take on the topic, and enjoying it! Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts, pictures that have been posted on the forum before, any equipment as long as it and the photo complies with the forum's rules of either camera or lens or both made by Leica. Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this thread. So, if you'd like to show your acknowledgement or appreciation that someone has posted their picture then instead of posting a comment please use the "Thanks" button that you can find at the bottom right of every post. Please post away and I look forward to seeing your interesting interpretations of this month's theme. Pete
