My M9-p arrived at Leica NJ (USA) on July 3rd. That was the day that I was told I needed to have my M9-p to them. The latest update is that they are waiting for Germany to give them more sensors, and that wait will be extending into the new year. Ridiculous. They couldn't even tell me if Germany was going to supply them with the newer type sensor or the problem sensor. Mark Garfinkel

I really would like to see a firmware update for the Q soon. I personally think it is long overdue. I have had the Q since june 2015 and the small things are really staring to bugging me a lot. Don´t get me wrong, it is a fantastic machine for taking pictures, but I sometimes feel the Q could be a even better camera. Alt least for my purposes. All may not agree. What I would like to see is the following. It should be able to do in a FW update: • Being able to have the option turn the back screen off and use it for menus and image review only. • Being able to have the option to turn of movie mode. • A functioning AEL button on the back. Right now it´s just plain wrong. • Better customisation of the available buttons. • DNG only option • EVF brightness adjustment. If I get one or two I will be happy, but i´m starting to loose faith in that any will ever come. Anyone missing anything else?

Hallo @all hier, ich bin neu hier im Forum und lese schon eine weile hier mit und hab mich vor ein par Tagen dann hier registriert um die Funktionen hier im Forum besser nutzen zu können. Da ich selber als Admin zwei Foren betreue finde ich, dass eine kurze Vorstellung der beste Weg zum ersten Beitrag ist. Ich lebe und wohne in Kornwestheim bei Stuttgart und die Fotografie war in den 70ér noch der Beruf bis ich Mitte der 80ér in die IT und Logistik gewechselt habe. Da habe ich dann die Fotografie als Hobby für mich neu entdeckt, der Digital Fotografie stand ich immer skeptisch gegenüber so kam es auch das ich erst in 2009 meine erste Digital-Camera kaufte eine Canon G11 die ich dann als Reise-Kamera nutzte, neben meiner Analogen Nikon F3 T die ich heute noch im Gebrauch habe. Es war jetzt an der zeit nach einer neuen "immer dabei Camera" ausschau zu halten, ich reise gerne und oft und zur letzten Reise im Januar hat mir meine Tochter ihre neue Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 zum testen ausgeliehen. Ich war mit ihr in USA und Mexiko unterwegs und war beeindruckt von der kleinen Kamera die Canon G11 ist nicht schlecht aber schon viel größer und schwerer als die LX-100. Ich hatte auch die Möglichkeit eine Sony RX-100 M IV über ein WE zu testen die war richtig gut aber dann für meine Hände fast schon zu klein. Es ist schon faszinierend wie wenig man mit so einer kleinen Kamera überhaupt bemerkt wird und der Silent-Mod von der LX100 trägt noch mehr dazu bei und wenn man entdeckt wird, wird man mit so einem kleinem Spielzeug nicht besonders ernst genommen und alle verhalten sich natürlich und so gelingen einem damit sagenhafte Aufnahmen. Mit einer großen professionell anmutenden Kamera geht das nicht jeder wirft sich gleich in pose, oder man wird gleich gefragt für wen oder was man fotografiert in vielen Länder ist es auch üblich eine art Trinkgeld zu bekommen wenn man mit so einer Camera fotografiert wird. Eine LX-100 sollte es dann werden für die nähste Reise Mitte Mai auf die Philippinen bei der Suche im Netz bin ich auf gute Angebote gestoßen und von dem gleichen Händler aus China, von dem ich schon meine Canon G11 her hatte fand ich das beste Angebot für 469 € aber ich wurde auch bei der Suche auf eine identische Kamera die fast ein Clon dazu ist die Leica D-Lux Typ 109 aufmerksam. Dann hab ich mich über die D-LUX weiter informiert und sie gefiel mir Optisch immer besser und technisch wusste ich ja schon von der LX-100 her bescheid. Mein China Händler hatte sie gerade nicht im Programm aber ein identischer Händler der auch über England liefert hatte sie für 712 € im Angebot. Ja man muss schon ein wenig verrückt sein um 250 € mehr nur für die Optik und den Namen mehr auszugeben, aber ich bin halt so verrückt und hab sie bestellt und zwei Wochen später war sie dann da. Ich konnte jetzt mal beide direkt in der Hand vergleichen und mir gefällt die Leica einfach besser als die Panasonic und ich werde sie bestimmt nicht zurück schicken, mehr kann ich dann nach dem Urlaub im Mai zu den Fotos sagen was ich so kurz die letzten 10 Tage feststellte sind die Bilder von der Qualität her gleich gut. The photo was taken by Summarit 50mm f1.5 on Sony A7 at Fa Yuen Street, Hong Kong. "Fa Yuen" means garden in local language. It is a street-side market with stalls selling fresh fruit and low cost clothing and apparels. It attracts tourists. The photo was taken by in an early morning when most stalls were still closed. Hello! My names Tyler, I'm State Side Located in Massachusetts. I've had some digital smaller cameras, and I have a DSLR Canon rebel t5i currently. I love the look and the pictures the Leica cameras take. I spend most of my time out side, hiking, rock climbing, archery, building cars riding motorcycles, I just got back from Norway, I travel a lot as well. I feel the Canon just doesn't fit my style, almost to much to take everywhere?. I was looking at the Leica XU cameras, although I'm skeptical about the flash? I just want a camera to fit my style and I feel i can't leave home without it. I would love some advice, thank you very much.

Hi Guys My first post here on the forum. I have been a long time rangefinder user; I recently upgraded to the Leica M-P Typ 240 and needed some advise. I am not a professional photographer but I do take it seriously and enjoy it quite a bit. My main styles of shooting are street and portraiture. My current kit is an Epson R-D1 with a 40 Summicton, 15 Heliar and 90 Elmar-C. I have been using the Epson for nearly 8 years. It has serviced me more than well. I love shooting with it, limitations and all. However recently it has been showing its age 1. The sensor is only 6MP so sometimes when I need to crop the image it doesn't lend to a lot of flexibility 2. The APS-C sensor size meant DOF and wide angle challenges 3. Battery life and 2GB memory limit precludes any serious usage for mission critical stuff Summarily I felt it was he right time to realize a 10 year dream and move up to a Leica. I just purchased a Typ 240 M-P with a 35 Summicron ASPH a few days back. Here is the challenge..with the caveat that I have used the camera for only a few days, I am really struggling to bond with the camera or its images. Some of my gripes are 1. The M-P images don't look as pleasing to my eye as my RD1 images. They lack the film like feel I think I got from the Epson 2. The camera itself feels a lot less analog and detached from the minimalism gestalt of Leicas (I also have an M2 for film duties). My RD1 I bonded with right from the first moment and every time I pick it up its like meeting an old friend again 3. The menus are IMO overtly complicated. Just too many options and not structured well. The person who came up with the button layout needs a swift kick in the arse 4 Handling the camera is also a bit more of a focussed effort than my fits-like-a-glove RD1/ M2. Granted the price of the Leica plays a very big role in it. I have added a ThumbsUp grip and have a Luigi case with the wooden grip en route that's probably going to make things better and potentially bulkier as well So heres where I need advice from you guys.. 1. Should I give it more time to learn how to use the M and adapt to it? 2. I can make my peace with points 3, 4 (though for the price I feel really shouldn’t have to) but points 1 and 2 are my main sticking points. Can they be improved upon with better technique and time 3. Should I sell it and go for an M9/ M9P? Before buying the M-P 240, I did a ton of research and tried an M9’s hands on as well. I did like its images (somewhat similar to my R-D1 but a lot noisier) and the menus were a lot simpler. Once I held the M-P in my hand I didn’t like the M9s build and the shutter sound + action. Finally what pushed me over the edge on the M-P was the sensor issues. I plan to own and use the camera for a long time (~10 years) and I didn’t want something which could/ will conk out and Leica won’t support it 4. Should I stake it out with my R-D1 for a few more years until the right range finder comes along? DSLRs and faux RFs (Fuji/ Oly) are not an option for me. I like the gestalt and process of image making in an analog range finder. Please find below a few images. Direct Jpegs from the Leica with no adjustments, tweaked DNGs converted to Jpegs and some shots taken a while back with the Epson. One point to note is that all the Leica shots are with the 35 Summicton ASPH and all Epson images are with the 40 Summicron. Would love to get thoughts form you guys on what to do next.. So, as you may know, my M9 went to Leica for sensor replacement almost 2 months ago. 2 weeks ago, I got an email from Leica telling me that my M9 is shipping back to me. I couldn't pick it up until early this week though. Cleaned, Tightened, button plate lock was changed as it was loose and sensor was cleaned not replaced as it seems spots seen on it were dust not corrosion Now, the camera feels like new again, sensor has 0 dust at f16 and I'm so happy having it back as I've been missing it a great deal. Didn't had the chance to shoot with it yet "raining non stops here" but couldn't resist this scene at our kitchen yesterday upon lunch time. This is fresh mediterranean tomatoes and cucumbers. anyone ?

OK, Leica you are so generous to offer us free license of Adobe Lightroom with the purchase of a Leica M (type 240)...But with the upgrade to Lightroom 6.0, then existing Leica owners are stuck, no upgrade???!!! We start paying for upgrading??? Whereas if you buy "now" (i.e: after the release of LR6.0) a Leica M (type 240) body then you get a complimentary license of LR 6.0!!!! Mmmmm....Can't understand the logic!!! Anyone can please HELP to explain the above or maybe I am missing few facts...Tnks

I know that the banding issue has been discussed in the past, but my searches have lead me to mostly high ISO concerns. This is different, and hard written into the file. Only happens at 640 and is not reproduced by trial and error. any thoughts?

This is the day one with Leica M9

Hallo Forum, ich bin seit einigen Jahren begeisterter "X"-User und fotografierte lange mit X1 und X Vario. Vor einiger Zeit erwarb ich eine Leica X-E, eine tolle Kamera - die ich jedoch zugunsten eines M-Systems wieder verkaufte. Die M-E war klasse, gar keine Frage, die Optiken zeichnen top, der Messsucher macht wirklich auch Spaß. Wenn man damit zurechtkommt. Genau das war mein Problem, eine kleine Sehschwäche strengte mich stark an, wenn ich das Gerät länger benutze. Auch muss quasi passend zu meinem look jedes Bild entwickelt werden, Beschnitt, nachschärfen, entrauschen, die starke Vignettierung herausnehmen usw. Nun ertappte ich mich immer mehr, dann doch lieber meine Vario mitzunehmen, auch wenn diese relativ lichtschwach am langen Ende ist. Die M-E ging wieder in den Verkauf. Ein kleines Schwesterchen für die Vario musste wieder her, also ergatterte ich eine nagelneue X2 in der gelben à la carte - Ausführung. Reumütig, zitternd, besessen packte ich den Karton aus und sah SIE. Was für eine Schönheit! Dieses handschmeichelnde charmante Stück Metall mit dem rasselnden Objektiv, handflächengroß mit einer Bildqualität, die man erst einmal finden muss. Der Autofokus ist gut zu gebrauchen, was noch ein großer Kritikpunkt der X1 war. Einen Sucher brauche ich nicht, ich fotografiere sehr gern mit Display, touristenlike. Allerdings gibt es da noch ein großes Problem: meine Frau ist ganz wild auf diesen bunten Vogel und droht mit dauerhafter Entführung Ich glaube, ich lasse meinen Namen eingravieren, das schützt auch vor der geistiger Umnachtung eines Verkaufs, wenn mal wieder ein lockendes KAUFMICHDENNICHBINTOLLER-Angebot vor der Tür steht!
