Hier eine Liste mit Vorschlägen zur Änderung/Ergänzung/Verbesserung der aktuellen Firmware Version 1.0 der Leica Q Typ 116. Die aktuelle Liste basiert auf Vorschlägen und Wünschen aus dem internationalen Teil des Forums und diversen Webseiten im Netz, sowie eigenen Erfahrungen mit der Leica Q. Wenn ihr weitere Vorschläge habt und in diesem Thread darüber diskutiert, gebt bitte an, auf welchen Punkt sich die Diskussion bezieht. Bei weiteren (neuen) Vorschlägen, die im Rahmen der Diskussion Zustimmung finden, werde ich die Liste entsprechend ergänzen und anpassen. Die fertige Liste wollen wir dann in wenigen Wochen Leica bzw. dem Produktmanager der Q zukommen lassen. In diesem Thread bitte nur Beiträge, die ernsthaft zum Thema "Firmware-Update" passen bzw. damit zusammenhängen und bitte keine allgemeinen Diskussionen zur Kamera. Weiter unten habe ich jetzt auch neu Vorschläge zu Hardware-Änderungen und Anpassungen mit aufgenommen. Durchgestrichen = in V2.0 integriert Vorschläge Firmware-Update Leica Q Typ 116: 1. JPG-Qualität • Die JPG-Qualität ist teilweise sehr schlecht, wenn ein großer Kontrastumfang bei der Aufnahme vorherrscht! Zu dunkel und zuviel Kontrast in den Tiefen. Das ist extrem abhängig von der Beleuchtungssituation. Bei größeren Kontrasten fällt das deutlich auf, dass extrem viel absäuft, was bei anderen Kameras (Leica X) ohne Probleme Zeichnung hat. Ohne DNG-Konvertierung ist die Kamera alleine mit JPGs bei solchen Bildsituationen kaum zu gebrauchen, vor allem, wenn man Bilder aus mehreren Kameras in einer Bildershow / Buch etc. mischen möchte. Es fällt auf: Die DNGs dieser JPGs, die von solchen Effekten betroffen sind, neigen oftmals zum Banding. Man hat den Eindruck, dass sobald die Gefahr des Bandings besteht, die JPGs an diesen Stellen (gewollt?) absaufen. Jedenfalls fällt es schwer, JPGooc-Bilder von einer Reise zum Beispiel mit den Fotos einer Leica X oder D-Lux Typ 109 zu mischen. Die Standard-Konvertierung mit ACR (Adobe Camera RAW = Lightroom / Photoshop) bringt mit den Standardeinstellungen (Belichtung automatisch / Weißabgleich automatisch) genau dass Ergebnis, dass man direkt vom JPEG aus der Kamera erwartet und im Prinzip das, was auch andere Kameras (von Leica) als JPEG liefern. Wünschenswert wäre also eine JPEG aus der Kamera, die im Prinzip der ACR-Standardkonvertierung entspricht bzw. den JPEG-Varianten aus anderen Leica-Kameras. 2. Profile • Profile mit frei definierbaren Namen 3. Daumentaste • Die AEL/AFL-Funktion umschaltbar machen, damit man nicht die ganze Zeit die Taste drücken muss, um die AEL/AFL-Sperre zu nutzen • Mehr Auswahlmöglichkeiten (andere zusätzliche Funktionen) 4. Bildstabilisator • Eine Option die Bildstabilisierung ab einer vordefinierten Zeit automatisch einzuschalten (z.B. ab 1/30 und länger) 5. LCD-Display und EVF • Mehr Einstellungsmöglichkeiten für LCD und EVF: • Einen Anzeige-Modi, bei dem nur die unteren Anzeigen (Zeit/Blende/ISO/Belichtungskorrektur) und das AF-Feld dauerhaft(!) anzeigt werden. • Einen eigenen Anzeige-Modi, mit dem die ausgewählten Funktionen Wasserwaage/Histogramm/Gitter angezeigt werden, alle anderen Modi dann ohne diese Anzeigen • Eine Ein- und Ausschaltoptionen für die angezeigten Symbole/Icons • Getrennte Anzeige-Optionen für LCD-Display und Sucher • LCD-Display ausschaltbar machen mit der Ausnahme für Bildwiedergabe und Menü, Sucher dann optional automatisch oder dauerhaft eingeschaltet • Die Helligkeit nicht nur für Display, sondern auch für Sucher einstellbar, u.u. die Sucherhelligkeit insgesamt erhöhen • Auch bei längeren Belichtungszeiten eine ungefähre Vorschau der Belichtungshelligkeit • Option zu einer verkleinerten Darstellung des gesamten Sucherbildes für Brillenträger 6. Bildanzeige • Bildanzeige des aufgenommen Bildes, solange der Auslöser gedrückt wird (wie bei M9 und M Typ 240) 7. FN-Taste • Die FN-Taste mit mehr Funktionen belegbar machen (u.a. Profile, Bildstabilisierung usw.) • Beim Festhalten der FN-Taste die angezeigten Einstellmöglichkeiten optional vorbestimmen: Man hat die Möglichkeit die angezeigten Funktionen einzuschränken ("frei definierbares Menü") 8. Video-Taste • Die Videotaste als 2. FN-Taste belegbar machen • Eine Option die Videotaste komplett abzuschalten 9. Autofokus-Punkt • 1-Punkt-Fokus in verschiedenen Größen (vor allem auch kleiner) • Gesichtserkennungs-AF zusammen mit 1-Punkt (bisher nur mit Automatik-AF-Feld) 10. Daumenrad • Möglichkeit der dauerhaften Belichtungskorrektur beim Daumenrad in jedem Modus (jetzt geht es nur, wenn das Zeitenrad auf „A“ steht) • Automatisch (Funktion wie bisher z.B. im Modus „P“ Programmshift usw.) • Eine Option das Daumenrad komplett abzuschalten 11. Auto-ISO-Funktion • Auto-ISO mit Definition der längsten Verschlusszeit entweder dem Verhalten anderer Kameras anpassen (Belichtungszeit über die ISO-Schaltschwelle hinaus verlängern wie bei der M) oder Anzeige, dass keine korrekte Belichtung möglich ist. 12. Löschtaste • Die Löschtaste hat im Aufnahme-Modus keine Funktion, daher belegbar machen (z.B. zusätzliche FN-Taste) • Längeres Drücken der Löschtaste im Aufnahme-Modus bietet das Formatieren der SD-Karte an 13. Verschluss • Auswahl der Verschlussmodi: Nur elektronisch / Nur mechanisch / elektronisch und mechanisch 14. Dateiformat • Nur DNG (notfalls mit dem Verzicht der Fernsteuerung per APP) 15. Touch-Funktion • Touch-Funktion des Displays komplett abschaltbar machen 16. Anzeige bei Langzeitbelichtungen • Bei Belichtungszeiten die mehrere Sekunden dauern, eine Anzeige, dass aktuell belichtet wird (z.B. Herunterzählen der verbleibenden Belichtungszeit etc.) 17. Mittlere Taste der Kreuzwippe (Set-Taste) • Frei belegbar inkl. komplett abschaltbar (erfordert, dass man die Display-Modi auch mit einer anderen Taste umschalten kann) • Möglichkeit der Zentrierung des AF-Feldes (geht jetzt nur mit Doppeltippen auf dem Display) 18. Ein-/Ausschalter: Modus "S"/ "C" • Bei der Serienbildgeschwindigkeit die Option "1" zufügen, damit sich die Kamera im Modus "C" genauso verhält wie im Modus "S". Dies ist nötig, da man beim Einschalten oftmals auf "C" landet, obwohl man nur "S" möchte (besser wäre eine Hardwarelösung). Die Option "1" soll dann nicht 1 Foto pro Sekunde bedeuten, sondern generell nur 1 Foto. Man könnte die Option zum besseren Verständnis für den Kamerabenutzer auch "S","3","5" und "10" benennen. 19. Weißabgleich • Die voreinstellbaren Kelvinwerte korrigieren (stimmen wohl aktuell nicht) 20. Belichtungszeit • Längere Belichtungszeiten als 30Sek. (sofern die Thermik des Sensors und das Dark-Frame-Verfahren das zulassen) • Einen Modus "B" für Kabelfernauslöser 21. Darstellung bei 35mm & 50mm • Eine Option die 35mm und 50mm nicht nur mit Rahmen, sondern auch formatfüllend darzustellen Vorschläge Hardware-Verbesserungen und Erweiterungen Leica Q Typ 116: H1. Ein- und Ausschalter • Größerer Widerstand für die 2. Schaltstufe, damit beim Einschalten nicht immer wieder sofort auf Modus "C" geschaltet wird alternativ: • Kleinerer Widerstand für die 1. Schaltstufe • Alternativ zu Unterpunkt 1 und 2: Größerer Drehwinkel für das Erreichen der zweiten Schaltstufe. H2. Sucher • Bereich um das Sucherbild im Sucher weiter abdunkeln. Das ist im Augenblick nicht wirklich schwarz und man sieht zu viel vom "Innenleben"... • Dioptrien-Korrektur schwergängiger oder verriegelbar machen. Viele Nutzer der M kleben das Rad ab, weil es sich bei Ihnen verstellt. • Suchereinblick entspiegeln H3. Display • Displayabdeckung besser verkleben. Nicht wenige Kunden haben wohl ein Problem mit der Verklebung oben links ("Click-Gate") • Kristallglas oder Corning-Glas ("Gorilla Glas") als Display-Abdeckung H4. Objektivdeckel • Bessere Verklebung des Innenstoffes (Filz?) im Deckel H5. optische Konverter Fujifilm hat für seine X100-Serie bewiesen, dass es gute Konverter geben kann, die die Bildqualität bis in die Ecken hinein nicht verschlechtert, daher: • Telekonverter (1,75x / Bildwinkel von 50mm KB) für die Q • Weitwinkelkonverter (0,75x / Bildwinkel von 21mm KB) für die Q H100. Upgrade • Alle vorgenannten Hardware-Änderungen für Bestandskunden der Q als Upgrade-Option anbieten

Hi When I have a ND filter attached to the Q and am using MF I get there symbols on the screen in the top right hand corner. They go away with a half press of the shutter but keep reappearing when I move the focus ring. It is hard to see them in the pic but they are: A magnifying symbol with a + in it. A "+3" in the circle. The word [set] next to the circle. Can't find out what they are for. Anybody?

Die Leica Q-App läuft nicht unter iOS 9. Wer sie also dringend benötigt, sollte mit dem Update warten. Leica arbeitet an einem Update der App. Bei Fujifilm funktioniert übrigens auch nicht, falls hier jemand auch mit Fujifilm arbeitet. Gruß, Jens

I had considered myself a decent amateur photographer even tho I have not worked at my hobby for a couple of years. I restarted my hobby with the Leica Q and of course I jumped right in and adjusted away and shot away and love it!! BUTTTT either the camera has a problem or (more likely) I have configured it in some manner to disallow access to several functions?? I cannot for the life of me figure out what/how the following have been grayed out/ disabled: AF mode Exposure Metering White Balance DIS Auto ISO Setting I seem to be locked into" idiot AF mode"?? any help would be appreciated. A new Leica Q is in my bag, and my M9-P is resting while I familiarise myself with the handling of a very different camera.. Now I have the opportunity of a free installation of LR 6 so I've downloaded the installation files but have stopped short of installing the software on my Macbook Pro. I've been using LR4 since 2012. Clearly, LR6 will facilitate the Q. (1) Is it not possible to add the correct Q profile to previous versions? (2) Are there other reasons why LR6 and Q combine well? All advice based on your experience would be appreciated.

Hallo, im internationalen Forum gibt es diverse Hinweise von Mitgliedern, deren Q entweder von Anfang an oder nach kurzer Zeit einen Staubbefall auf dem Sensor / im Inneren aufwies. Gleichzeitig kann man nachlesen, wie aufwändig die Beseitigung ist, insbesondere, wenn man in Übersee und nicht in der Nähe von Wetzlar wohnt! Nun frage ich mich, ob man sich als Besitzer einer recht teuren Kamera ernsthaft um dieses Thema Gedanken machen muss, oder ob dies Einzelfälle bzw. Ausreißer sind. Auch bei neuen Produkten aus dem Smartphonebereich werden immer vor allem die wenigen Problemfälle weltweit (häufig genug: genüsslich) diskutiert, auch wenn dies statistisch in der Regel zu vernachlässigen ist. Klar ist natürlich auch : Hier wird niemand einen Thread mit dem Thema "Ich habe keinen Staub auf dem Sensor" aufmachen. Vermutlich dürfte daher auch hier der Anteil der Problemfälle - wie in jedem Forum - weit überproportional sein. Trotzdem interessiert mich die Frage, ob das Problem statistisch zu vernachlässigen ist (für die, die es betrifft, natürlich kein Trost!) oder ob hier evtl. doch ein größeres Serienproblem zu erwarten ist. Dann würde man ja mit Schrecken an die Zeit nach Ablauf der Garantie denken, denn ob dann durch Leica Kulanz angesagt wäre, kann man nicht wissen! Gibt es hierzu schon belastbare Aussagen, evtl. von Leica selbst?

Having spent most of my life shooting with Nikon's and more recently I made the switch to Fujifilm and their excellent X-T1. I didn't ever think that I could afford to get into the Leica world, but with the introduction of the 'Q', I didn't hesitate in putting my name on the wait list. Having waited only 6 weeks my Q arrived! I was a very excited bunny. As a full time working professional, I have had little time to really put the Q through it's paces, but over the last couple of weeks have had some opportunities to try out the bokeh, the macro function, the dynamic range and must say it's my favourite camera of all time. I even took a couple of shots at a recent wedding. I now find myself thinking of excuses to go out and shoot with it. Whilst I know it's just a tool, it has re-awakened my love of photography.

I really would like to see a firmware update for the Q soon. I personally think it is long overdue. I have had the Q since june 2015 and the small things are really staring to bugging me a lot. Don´t get me wrong, it is a fantastic machine for taking pictures, but I sometimes feel the Q could be a even better camera. Alt least for my purposes. All may not agree. What I would like to see is the following. It should be able to do in a FW update: • Being able to have the option turn the back screen off and use it for menus and image review only. • Being able to have the option to turn of movie mode. • A functioning AEL button on the back. Right now it´s just plain wrong. • Better customisation of the available buttons. • DNG only option • EVF brightness adjustment. If I get one or two I will be happy, but i´m starting to loose faith in that any will ever come. Anyone missing anything else?

I've finished my rather extensive first article on the Leica Q Typ 116 after some weeks of use since I bought one. "To be, or not to be, that is the Q" Enjoy! "I don’t know if this Leica Q is what it takes for Leica to realize that what would really make their customers happy would be if Leica could make a Leica. As simple as that."

Hallo Gemeinde, na, dann will ich mal... Baujahr 1963 aus dem Ruhrgebiet, die übliche "analoge Kariere" mit einem Nikon-System und vielen Objektiven, noch mehr Zubehör und einem gepflegten S/W-Labor mit dem ich die Toilette meiner Eltern stundenlang blockiert habe und meine Mutter wegen des "Gestanks" zur Weissglut trieb. Irgendwann kam dann die Familie und ich wollte auch keine tragbaren Wandschränke an Fototaschen mehr mit mir rumschleppen. Jahrzehnte und eine Hüftarthrose später wollte ich unbedingt wieder knipsen - die Kameras meiner Kollegen waren einfach zu verführerisch. Also 2012 ab ins Systemkamera-Forum und nach langem Hin- und Her für eine Olympus PEN (mft-Sensor) entschieden. Dann wurde ich schwach, nachrüsten durch die Pentax Q mit noch mehr Zubehör - zusätzlich noch zur Sicherheit ein paar Kompaktknipsen (u.A. eine Leica C ) Obendrauf Einstieg bei LensBaby für die gepflegten Effekte nebenher. Spaß machte mir aber gleich die Beschäftigung mit Fotosoftware. Gerne sitze ich auch mal stundenlang vor Lightroom, Photoshop und der exzellenten Google NIK-Collection. Also wieder riesige Mengen Zubehör, nur etwas kleiner und leichter. Hmm, also irgendetwas mache ich hier falsch... Kann nicht irgendein gottverdammter Kamerahersteller ne Knipse bauen wo man (fast) kein Zubehör braucht und man nicht ständig durch neue Objektive "gezwungen" wird den Gerätepark durch Zukäufe zu vergrößern!!!!??? Also "reduce to the max" aber auf hohem Niveau - etwas womit ich mich mit dem Motiv beschäftigen kann und nicht mit der Kamera? Etwas was meinem persönlichen Fotofeeling endlich entspricht. Durch absoluten Zufall habe ich ein paar Tage vor dem Release der Q beim googlen Infos von eben dieser gefunden. Ich habe dann hier im Forum intensiv die ganze Sache verfolgt. Da mein örtlicher Fotohändler einige Tage nach dem 10. Juni 2015 noch eine von drei Qs da hatte, bin ich hin und nahm sie in die Hand. Zwar konnte ich sie aus zeitlichen Gründen noch nicht ausreichend nutzen, aber ich kann jetzt schon sagen: wir sind Freunde für´s Leben geworden. Sie entspricht von Ihrem ganzen Stil genau dem was ich gesucht habe. Ich bin angekommen! Mögen auch andere, aktuelle und zukünftige Kameras tolle Tricks und tolle Technik verbauen - dadurch werden meine Fotos auch nicht besser. Das sollte jeder wissen der schon über einige Jahre Kameras in den Händen hält. Ansonsten reise ich gerne mal (im Mai mit einer Kompaktkamera von Olympus SH-2 durch Oregon), höre Jazz, Blues und amerik. Liedermacher und habe einen kleinen YouTube-Kanal. PS: Bin gespannt wie sich das mit mir und dem Forum hier entwickelt, ich bin eigentlich gar nicht so sehr der Foren-Typ. Unsinnige Technikkeilereien, Besserwissereien und Selbstdarstellungstrieb ("niemals zugeben dass man mal Unrecht hatte") haben mir die Lust an eigentlich fast allen Foren vertrieben. Der Umgangston hier ist allerdings ausgesprochen freundlich und größtenteils wirklich kooperativ - da versuche ich es einfach noch einmal. PPS: Ich zeige mal 3-4 Bilder aus meiner "Pre-Leica"-Zeit. Selfish Reflections Leica Q, f=1.7, 1/60 sec, ISO 800

I recently made the trip from mirrored SLR's (i.e. Nikons) to mirrorless, Sony A7 series, and could not resist the Leica Q. Not sure why but was enamored with all of the great reviews, the Leica red emblem, and the fixed 28mm lens. Thinking perhaps I could simplify my life with multiple camera bodies, lens, and all of the other paraphernalia one collects over the years and reduce my photography to a single camera. Hmmm, I also believe in Santa Claus and the 'tooth fairy'. Well, starting to get used to this very expensive, forgive me, point and shoot camera, and loving every minute of it. I found the Wi-Fi setup a bit trickier than the Sonys, but works well, once you know the secret. (Googled it and of course some good soul set up a nice YouTube video LOL). I'm not sure I've achieved my goal of a single camera and learning to live with a 28mm lens, but going to give it a try. And, admittedly, the quality and substantial feel to the Q make it worth every single penny of its exorbitant price. LOL

I just updated my Leica Q article with samples of the colors before and after the implementation of the new Camera Raw 9.1.1. that now supports Leica Q. The Lightroom profile has just been updated today, so that changes things quite a bit. Hello All, This is my first post on the forum. I have few questions which may have been asked and replied to earlier but bear with me. I have been photographing for last almost 35 years. I am not a professional .Photography is my hobby. The Leica products that I own are couple of Trinovid binoculars which are inspite of heavy use for last twenty years are as good as new. Currently I have a Canon 5D-S and Canon 35mm 1.4 ii plus a 100mm macro lens. With the 50 MP resolution of the Canon 5D-S,the outfit is brilliant. I have no complaints. Lately ,due to my increased job commitments, many times I am leaving the DSLR back home and the DSLR is taken only on the longer trips few times a year and there too I am finding it rather tiresome to carry it around. I need a smaller and more lighter outfit and having known about Leica quality for decades,I was contemplating making a switch. I have few questions and I will be grateful if the experts out there guide me. I know these decisions are subjective but I would like to know your opinion so that it will help me to decide as I am fairly confused right now. Will it be better if I keep the existing Canon outfit,to be used sparingly, and complement it with a Leica Q? In the alternative, sell the Canon outfit and buy a Leica M240 with 35mm or 50 mm lens? If I take the second option,will the quality of image of M240 with Summilux 35 be comparable to the Canon outfit that I have? M240 will be more compact I sure ,but I am scared that I am not selling away a high resolution camera like the Canon 5D-S and the quality of M240 may not match it at all.Most of the switch stories so far I have read are about 5d Mark III,which is 24MP. To put a rider, its not that a non-professional like me must have a 50MP camera. i am extremely tempted to switch over to Leica M240 entirely,but for the above concern about the picture quality .I could add Leica Q to the existing outfit, but it means additional expense. I use the camera for landscapes, abstract,portraits,street and travel photography. Since in India it is not possible to rent a Leica to try it out ,please advice. Thank you in advance. N.Shah

Hello. I would ask for advice. I am a new user of Leica Q. Excellent camera. J I work with DNG files in Lightroom. Under the tab Camera calibration are two profiles, namely Embedded Standard and Adobe. When using these two colors are different, and also the color temperature (White balance –WB in numbers). What is your experience - which profile is correct for the proper display of color and as a basis for further processing. Thank you. Best regards. Tomaz

Hello fellow Leica Q owners I seem to be unable to use my Leica Q in AF mode. The MF sign is constant in the top right corner of the EVF/LCD and no matter what I choose in the Menu I am unable to activate AF. I am stuck and frustrated. User error or technical glitch? Any ideas welcome cheers William

Hallo zusammen, Ich habe über die Suchfunktion zu diesem Thema im deutschsprachigen Forum noch keinen Thread gefunden, deshalb eröffne ich hier mal einen. Ich hätte gerne einen Polfilter für meine Leica Q und habe wegen seiner flachen Bauweise bereits den B+W Zirkularpolfilter nach Käsmann HTC MRC nano XS-Pro Digital ins Auge gefasst. 1. Hat jemand Erfahrung mit diesem oder einem anderen Polfilter an der Q? 2. Lässt sich der Filter mit angesetzter Gegenlichtblende drehen? Danke für Eure Antworten.

Hi All - New to the forum & the Leica world. Old photographer however. Coming from mostly Nikon, Fuji, Ricoh. I have the new Q, fw 2.0. Loving it. But I seem to get unpredictable results with Auto ISO. I tend to shoot manual aperture & shutter, letting the ISO move within my chosen range. I always select my aperture. Occasionally I will select an aperture, put shutter on 'A', but still let ISO move up or down within my range. It seems no matter what I set my Q Auto ISO settings to - 1/15th & 6400 max for example, when putting the camera in 'A' shutter speed, the camera will start raising the ISO while remaining at 1/60th? Should not the camera be allowing the shutter speed to drop to 1/15th before raising ISO? Is not the functionality (more importantly the terminology) similar to most other manufacturers? Iv'e read some of the threads here that attempt to answer this but I haven't seen a clear explanation? The result I'm looking for: Pick an aperture, say f2.8 Put shutter dial on 'A' Set Auto ISO to 1/15th, 6400 I'm expecting camera to keep ISO at 100 down to a shutter of 1/15th before raising ISO Example of what does happen: Pick f28 Shutter dial on 'A' Auto ISO to 1/15th, 6400 Camera will stop dropping shutter speed at 1/60th, the ISO will move from 100 up/down to 1,000 or whatever it needs to meter. I must be missing something? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

I'm looking for a small, fitted, sophisticated, high-quality bag that will hold my iPad, iPhone, Leica T with the 18 - 56, and a few small personal items. I occasionally like to go analog with the Leica M3 and a single lens, so it would be nice if the bag could hold the M3 in place of the T. I regularly travel internationally for work, which means that much of my time abroad is spent in a suit/sport coat. My current arsenal includes bags from Billingham, ONA, and Fogg. However, given the formality of my dress, I'm looking for something a bit more professional that could pass as a small brief. I am going to Dubaï next week and will spend there 10 days. I will take the Q, of course, but have a doubt: is it worth carying a D800 with a 15mm zeiss lens... or not? If someone can help me making a decision...

When i was doing my initial research when considering to purchase this flash i did not find any other pictures than the official product photos that's only from the front. I picked it up from my retailer today, and thought i'd post some pictures of the flash from the front and back, and on the Q as well for size comparison. I were eyeballing this flash for a while, It is the same as a Nissin i40, just rebranded and with support for Leica TTL, seems to work perfect on the Q and should probably do the job in the scenarios where the Q is with me.
