  2. I purchased a new Leica MP some time ago, and I've been seeing bright stripes on my scans frequently ever since. I assumed it was the scanner - dust on the glass or the sensor or something similar. Recently my wife started scanning her negatives however, and she has a Leica MP too, albeit a n older one. She did not get the same bright stripes in the scans as I do. Our development process is the same. The same gear is used. A lot of our film are even developed together at the same time in the same tank, and for our color films the same lab has developed them. It happens with all the film I've tried: TX400, HP5+, Silvermax 100, Acros 100, Portra 400, Superia 200, Fuji Pro 400h, etc. So I recently started to inspect my negatives, and to my surprise there is a dark stripe on them, that matches what I'm seeing in the scans. I've checked the back plate of the camera, and it's clean without any sharp edges as far as I can see or feel. I've attached a few images that clearly shows the stripes on the negatives and how the scans looks. Does anyone have any idea what this could be caused by? Negative: Scans:
  3. Hello all, I am new to the forum and new to the Leica world too. I just moved over to a MP from a Nikon FM2n- great camera but needed something a bit quieter and something that I could focus more quickly. Anyways, had a quick question about cleaning the viewfinder. A neighbor of mine came by to check out the camera, and put a nice thumb print on the glass. I tried using a micro fiber cloth but that just swirled the oils around. I read online that you can use rubbing alcohol? Anyone tried this? Also, wanted to know if anyone had some thoughts on home developing. It is getting expensive and where I only shoot black and white I thought I might develop myself. Any thoughts on tanks and chemicals? Some people are really into the Patterson tanks and others hate them..any suggestions on where to buy metal tanks? Thanks for taking the time to read, and answer. Sincerely, Peter
  4. After owning the MP for about a year I decided to write some of my experiences with this camera, and with film cameras and the film process as a whole. Check it out: http://indergaard.net/2016/02/26/leica-mp-review/

  6. Adox Silvermax. Yes, I really like this film. Not as 'pictorial' as D100 but it has grittyness with guts and depth. Streedagh was a good place for a first outing with it. Takes me back. Leica MP 35mm Summicron asph Heliopan O22 Adox Silvermax

  10. With two significant repairs to M7s, one under warranty, I've decided to start using my MP I was fortunate to get. Although I am so careful with these cameras, I am just getting tired of not being with them, and I hear MPs are "more robust." Not having Aperture Priority Auto is really far less of a big deal as I just go back to "Sunny 16" and fine tune the shutter speed if I have time. The dial rotation is literally driving me nuts; are there any of you that have a way of remembering? How about the dial stop - that has me looking to the top. Then I have a few questions: Do you all set the dial to "OFF?" Do you wind the shutter to the next frame and then turn shutter dial to meter "OFF?" Do any of you use a soft shutter button, cable release or Leica self timer APDOO OZTNO combination with MP? Believe it or not, I actually like the MP rewind knob. I know I'm weird. Thanks in advance for replies.

  14. Hallo Zusammen. Audemar

  16. I was not sure if I should start a new thread for this simple question, but here it goes. I purchased Leica MP (used) just little over month ago. Just last week we got our first cold weathers this winter here in Finland. I have shot with the MP for many rolls without any problems. At first cold weathers the battery died, so I replaced it with brand new one. Now when I was shooting my first roll with the new battery in ~ -3 °C, after a while when the camera got cold my light meter stopped showing the overexposure led. Other leds work fine and the lightmeter does seem to work fine otherwise. I still have warranty left on the camera because I bought it from store. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this and if this could be because of my batteries. I used Duracell DL1/3N battery, instead of the recommended CR1/3N. At the moment the led seems to work fine, when the camera is at the room temperatures.
