I live in a major seaport and it should be no surprise that shipping has always been a keen interest of mine from the moment I first picked up a camera. Yesterday I took advantage of the great weather to capture this vehicle carrier alongside using my 90mm lens from the opposite shore, and this is the uncropped result. To people living here this is quite a modest size at nearly 69,000 tonnes and vessels like this are regular visitors on their round-the-world routes. Leica M240 + 90mm Summarit-M f2.5. - 1/1000th @ f9.5 - 320iso. Gerry

The river of my boyhood - for the whole of my life I have known this stretch of water. I was born near it, my first visit to an inn was alongside it. Over time I have fished in it, swam in it, paddled in it. Like life it keeps flowing onward. I went back this morning and it stirred many memories. It is that time of year again when one of the local universities holds its graduation ceremony. I captured this scene of a couple of students making their way to the ceremony in the obligatory mortarboard and gown. Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron-M f2. 1/2000 f3.4 @ 320iso Gerry

While I was sat having coffee in my favourite spot this morning this young lady came and stood immediately in front of me. To her I must have been invisible because I simply raised my camera to my eye, focused, and pressed the button. She was probably only about a meter away from me but her thoughts were obviously somewhere else. I used available light. Leica M240 + 50mm Summicron-M f2. 1/180 f2.8 @ 320iso. This is full frame and processed in Lightroom Classic. Gerry

I am slowly managing to get out more now, ands back in my usual coffee shop yesterday. I couldn't resist taking a candid image of this young lady at the counter because of her height. She must have been about 1.8 metres. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit f2.5 @ 1250 iso. 1/250 @ f2.8 and post-processed in Lightroom Classic. Gerry

It was great to finally be able to get out to my favourite cafe yesterday and drink coffee with a friend I haven't seen since Christmas. I have been having problems with my knee and have found walking almost impossible but thankfully I am just using one stick now. This is one image I grabbed whilst sat outside the cafe in the beautiful sunshine Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit f2.5 Gerry

Each football field has its own unique atmosphere, although the nature of the surroundings is usually the same. Sometimes I have the impression that these country football fields are more real than the huge stadiums we see during the matches of the richest teams in the world. Here we have molehills that couldn't be more literal. We have a landscape and space that is not limited by the stands and the roof (no roof at all). Here you run differently. Here you cheer differently. And only the rules are the same. These are country football fields after season. Feel it!

The major cruise liners may have deserted Southampton because of COVID-19, but we still get daily visits by some of the biggest ships in the world such as the 210,691 tonnes 'MOL Treasure' which at 400m long dominate the skyline. Leica M240 + 90mm Summarit-M f2.5 - 50% crop Gerry

Like so many I am in a lockdown situation, and as a safeguard I have not ventured out for many week because of my age and heart condition. Those around me are keen to keep me a live for some reason! 😄 I have therefore been exploring the home environment, and also exploring my under-used 24mm Elmarit-M f2.8 ASPH. Here is one from my garden which was taken with the Elmarit on my M240, and then converted to black and white in Lightroom CC. Technical details are 1/90 f8 @ 2000iso Init is pretty dark under the oak tree). Hope you like it! Gerry

Fallen crabapples mix with dead pine needles on an urban sidewalk in Southampton, England. They herald the onset of Fall and the start of the regeneration of life for next Spring. They are earlier than normal this year because of the very low rainfall and high heat but the cycle of life will continue as always. Leica M240 + 50mm Zeiss Sonnar f1.5 @ 250iso. Gerry
