Not available for delivery yet, but 100% funded in two days - now that makes a statement! This device looks unwieldy and weird when attached to a camera, but it gives a 35mm camera the ability to make 62x62 mm. instant prints. At first I was skeptical but the more I think about it, this device is quite unique and it is growing on me. I can see how it would be great for certain applications such as a highly specialized fine art photo project. As icing on the cake, it is compatible with eleven different types of M rangefinders and is priced within reason (estimated $179 USD retail for M cameras) and uses Fujifilm Instax instant film. Hi all, I have recently sold my Leica Q in order to buy something with interchangeable lenses. I am really struggling to chose between buying a new Leica CL, Summicron 23mm (and I will probably down the road buy the adapter and some M-lenses), or a used Leica M 240 along with a used Leica M lens (probably 50 mm Summicron). In the end both options will do the same damage to my wallet For info, I do currently not own any Leica lenses. I am not a professional, merely a happy amateur. My photography is concentrated around portraits (bokeh!!), family, travel, social activities, landscape, architecture. My heart is leaning towards the M, while my brain (and wife, even though she is not negative for the M) towards the CL. I am a bit afraid of the rangefinder, and if I will be able to focus as quick as I want to. The CL have AF on TL-lenses and focus-peaking on M-glass through the EVF (I know the M240 have focus-peaking on the screen and the optional viewfinder, but then the point of the RF is kinda gone?). After all the CL might just be a pit-stop to the M(?). I am not interested in sports- or action photography (even though we do have a eager and young dog), but it would be awful to miss a moment due to lacking focus. My question is; which option would you buy, and why? PS: I have in the process already passed on Sony and Fujifilm due to their overly-complex nature...

Guten Abend allerseits! Ich habe so gut es geht selbst versucht, zu recherchieren, aber so ganz habe ich die Verwendung von Nahlinsen noch nicht verstanden. Ich bin Architekt und fotografiere immer wieder Innenräume in Modellen. Zu diesem Zweck habe ich bisher eine D-Lux gehabt, die nun leider das zeitliche gesegnet hat. Und eigentlich wollte ich ohnehin schon immer versuchen, meine M-P (240) dafür zu verwenden, bei den wirklich großen Modellen habe ich das schon gemacht, der Qualitätsunterschied spricht Bände! Ein Zwischenring scheidet beim 28mm ja aus, ich bräuchte ja nur einen minimalen Auszug (und mein OUFRO hat ja 10mm, viel zu viel) Liesse sich mein Anwendungsfall sinnvoll mit Vorsatzlinsen realisieren? Idealerweise würde mir einen Schärfebereich von ca 20cm bis 70cm wünschen. Also 4-5 Dioptrien, korrekt? Habe ich bei 5 Dioptrien noch einen sinnvollen Schärfebereich oder beträgt er dann nur noch wenige cm? Und schaffe ich es überhaupt den Bereich von 25cm bis 70cm abzudecken. Und welche Achromaten könnt ihr empfehlen? Marumi DHG? Oder Leitz Elpro? Ich freue mich auf eure Antworten und wünsche eine gute Nacht, Leopold -
Hallo. Ich suche eine Leitz-Linse Objektiv, Summicron M 35. Nicht neu. ist 800 eur ein akzeptabler Preis? Ich habe eins, gebraucht, mit einem kleinen Flaum im inneren gesehen. der Verkäufer sagt, ist ein Problem. freundliche Grüße Ann -

When I was 16 years old, I really wanted a good camera. It was not to come from my parents, so I snuck into the bank and cashed the single hundred dollar bond my aunt had given me. It was a Minolta rangefinder. A good camera, but not the SLR I really wanted. I got inexpensive Nikons until I got a Maymiya 645 after college, before my first vacation to the South Pacific. After my MBA, work became 70 hours a week and I did light photography through the end of the film era… a inexpensive film Leica was an amazing alternative to the cheap film cameras colleagues had in the mid 90's. I climbed up the small digital since the late '90s. Then Nikon D700, then D800 preorder as DSLs started to approach film resolution… and I really made progress as a photographer, with the instant feedback. Preordered Leica X2, Fuji XE-2, then Xpro-2 for international travel. So, for the last 6 or 7 years I have been improving as digital cameras and my 1,000 to 2,000 photos per month and international travel would permit. The 25 or 30 lenses for the systems helped as did Lightroom. My like my Leica for local street photography, but when I go to a remote city, I want big glass for shooting at night, and real wide. So it is D800 or Fuji. I appreciate the finer things in life. Fountain pens, high end audio, fine wine, and have always found the value in really expensive stuff. I am careful, research the living daylights out of things and then purchase. I am at the time of life when a Rolex was appropriate. I dipped my foot in with a Tag Heuer as a way of getting to know the terrain. I was stopped dead. What do you mean accuracy of one second a day? Luxury means best performance AND aesthetics. I was really disappointed. So I finally went with a Seiko Astron… the ultimate in accuracy and really good looking, but not a Rolex. When I bought my Lexus, I was ecstatic because I got so much more than I expected… that is the way luxury goods work…well unless you get fooled, I don't get fooled. My $14K preamplifier is incredible… beautiful and unparalleled performance. So here I find myself pondering a Leica M10… is it like a Rolex or Lexus, you can find articles proclaiming either, overpriced anachronism, or pinnacle of contemporary perfection? I have two Takahashi telescopes… optics are superb, I have always been rewarded when spending really large amounts on optics. So, a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a M10 and Summicron 35. I have had it for 2 days: I get it, wow, it is there, it is not subtle, incredible output, beautiful, a sense of quality throughout the device. Something I can be proud of owning and use to reach new levels in photography. Huge sense of relief, and excitement anticipating all the wonderful things we will achieve together. New York, Shanghai, Tokyo, Pacific Northwest forests here we come! The Leica M legend, I get it.

I've had a M 262 with LCD monitor for about 6 months and it has worked wonderfully up till now. While shooting the other day: a) after shutter half-way depression red light DID NOT flash I have no monitor either c) The viewfinder flashes "Sd" although I have a formatted card in there that has worked since first of the year d) checked by throwing in a few other cards, but same symptoms a-c. e) checked the batteries and fully charged, same symptoms Anybody out there have any ideas as to what is going on? I'm guessing software since if the monitor just went out, the "Sd" wouldn't be there and the red prompt light would still flash. Thanks Dan

Hi all, I have been reading on this forum for a long time, but never posted before, so first let me introduce myself. My name is Ole, I am from Norway, and I have been into photography for nearly a decade. Hence, I am still a junior:) A month ago I both my first Leica film camera, a nearly mint M3 from 1966. I love shooting with 50mm, so when deciding between an M2, M3 and M6 the choice was easy. I also have an M246 which I couldn't be more happy with. In addition, I have a Sony A7 for convenience, and because my wife forbids me from selling it ("we need a camera that can take colour photos of our future kids"). Yes, we are expecting one later this year:) Moving on. When I bought the M246 I quickly opted for the Zeiss C Biogon 21/4.5 as my UWA. My rationale was that this lens would give me what I needed for the least amount of $$$. The colour issues are not a problem on the M246, and the lens have plenty of qualities. In fact, in many ways its a real gem - small, nearly zero distortion, and plenty of sharpness in central and midfield areas. Towards the edges the sharpness drops rather quickly though. And, as many of you know, the lens vignettes A LOT. On a digital camera with a histogram I can overcome this. But what about on a film camera? Have any of you used this lens on a film camera, and how do you usually expose? Does it vignette as much on film as it does on a digital camera? I know, the best way to find out is to go out and test, which I will do as soon as I get 21mm viewfinder. But until then it would be very nice to hear your experiences with this little gem:) Thanks for reading. All the best, Ole

Bodo Philipp : Workshop " Sensor - Feuchtreinigung" der M Sensoren Fast jeder hat Manschetten seinen Sensor feucht zu reinigen - also werden wir es lernen! Wir werden zuerst an ausgemusterten Sensoren üben, bevor es an die eigene Kamera geht. Reinigungsequipment bringt Bodo mit und kann erworben werden. 2. Harald Schmidt: Schärfe oder Unschärfe das ist keine Frage. Harald wird uns einige Beispiele zeigen, die wir dann besprechen werden. Bei unseren 13. Treffen wies ich auf ein Angebot im September hin, exklusiv für max. 8 Teilnehmer des LFB, ein Eurofighter Geschwader in der Nähe von Rostock, live zu fotografieren. Hallo Zusammen, ich hoffe, meine Frage ist nicht schon zum Xten mal behandelt worden, aber ich bin bei meiner Suche nach einem 90iger als Laie und Anfänger etwas durcheinander geraten. Ich besitze seit letztem Jahr eine Leica M9 mit einem Summicron 35mm und einem Summicron 50mm beide aus Canada und für meine Begriffe bekomme ich da schon schöne Fotos hin. Jetzt habe ich im Urlaub in Monschau zuweilen eine etwas längere Brennweit vermisst, da ich z.B. an Gebäuden, alten Häusern manchmal kleine Verzierungen gefunden habe, die ich mit dem 50iger nur schwer abbilden konnte. Auch Fotos von den streunenden Straßenkatzen waren problematisch, das sie mich nur auf gewisse Distanz heranließen. Also etwas mehr Brennweite wäre nicht schlecht, wie so oft ist da Budget überschaubar (+-600€) Jetzt find ich in der Bucht oder bei einschlägigen Shops gebrauchte Linsen zu akzeptablen Preisen, die hier im Forum vermittelten Informationen verwirren mich aber eher ein wenig. Was wäre denn passend für die M9, für Aufnahmen draußen bei gutem Wetter mit ausreichender Schärfe? Gefunden habe ich das Tele Elmarit, das Elmar, das Summicron oder auch ein Rokkor. Hat Jemand einen Tip für mich? Da ich hier in der Provinz ( was Leica-Shops angeht) eher auf die Online-Möglichkeiten angewiesen bin, kann ich natürlich kaum probieren. Und übrigens, das Gewicht spielt nur eine Nebenrolle, komme von der Nikon D200 mit großem Gepäck, bin da also abgehärtet. Für Infos jeder Art bin ich dankbar. Gruß Heiner
