  1. [ I did not find a pertinent thread via forum search; if this is a duplicate question, please be so kind to provide a link, otherwise feel free to answer ] What adapters can be reliably used on the M10 for e.g. a classic LTM Elmar 50 mm in your experience? In older threads (pre M10), the three most widely recommended were - Original Leitz (50mm seems to be a bit scarce on the market) - Voigtländer - CameraQuest/ Rayqual (seem unavailable in Europe) The M10 has been reported to be more finicky with regard to 6 bit coding. Is it also more of a diva with regard to adapters? I have read the caveats about collapsing; now I am looking out for an adapter... Thanks, Mathias
  2. Hi to all interested in photographing with vintage screw mount Leica`s. After first year of my activity in photography I decided to upload a litte overview of my photos taken with Leica IIIc and a couple of LTM-lenses. Visti my youtube-channel PhotoLoge 84 (link below) and watch the video. Im beginner, still learnnig and focused on improving my approch to photgraphy - so any critics, suggestions or tips are welcome! For every vistiging, watching, commenting or any feedback many thanks in advance link: https://youtu.be/zVQ8uKytj98
  3. http://petapixel.com/2016/01/21/the-lomography-jupiter-3-is-another-classic-soviet-lens-raised-from-the-dead/#more-199794 It seems for the extraordindary price of $649 (compared to the £30 I paid 4 years ago for a Zorki 4K with Jupiter 50mm (but mine might have been the Jupiter 8), Lomo will re-release this lens. The sample images are reminiscent of what I remember getting from mine (strong contrast).
  4. Hi, I am new Leica IIIf user. Is it possible to use Super Angulon 21/3.4 on LTM body? Leica Wiki shows some units are compatible but one of my friend told me SA21/3.4 is only for M mount. Please enlighten me. Best
  5. Hi all, I'm new to the forum and screw mounts in general. Some members suggested I set up a London event as there are apparently a lot of us here! How about it? Weekend i am guessing is probably best. Fine by me! What weekends are best for everyone? I'm thinking some street shooting perhaps by the water or around Trafalgar Square (but i don't mind location if you guys want to chime in with ideas) and probably dinner and maybe drinks after ;D
  6. I recently got one Nikkor S.C 5cm f1.4 lens. It took me three adapters to make it work on my Sony A7 - the Nikon-Leica thread mount, the LTM to M mount and the Leica M to Sony NEX mount. Not too difficult and lucky that the focus is still correct after the stack of adapters. I have put other pictures at BigBigLens.com - Nikkor. I only started street photography a few month ago. I need critical comments.

  8. Could anybody comment on possible causes/ remedies for what I see on all films from a newly acquired 1932 II (D)? The film is exposed into the lower (in camera upper) sprocket holes and the image is slightly misrotated. This happened on all films so far. I cut all film leaders with my template as usual. I did not encounter any problems while loading. I did exactly according to the old Leica instructions (as I always do with my other LTMs). Any suggestions? Thanks! Mathias
  9. This will be old hat for you, but I can still get carried away by the mechanical wonder of the original curtain shutter and the incremental improvement it underwent. Please be lenient towards a relative newcomer to LTM innards iPhone slow motion of IIIa timing mechanism: http://www.galerie-elsner.de/video/IIIa.MOV [ The video file is 8 MB, so those on a mobile or on a slow internet connection might refrain from clicking the link ] This is from the original German patent published in 1926 (declared valid as of 1924):
  10. I effectively ruined my hideously expensive multifocal eyeglasses with LTM-photography (Leica II & III, FED & Zorki) . A little too late, I started experimenting with various washers etc but found that most items increase the viewing distance and lead to incomplete viewfinder / rangefinder coverage, which is restricted enough with eyeglasses on classic LTMs anyway. There may be some professional solutions around, but I have come up with a low cost, dispensable item, which may not be perfect on aesthetic grounds, but works very well in the field for me. I did not bother with geometric perfection . I used a 12 mm and a 6 mm punching tool respectively, and some general adhesive cloth tape from the hardware store. My new eyeglasses will arrive next week Kind regards Mathias
  11. (0) Preface Confession: I like my Soviet Leica clones! There, I’ve said it! You may start throwing eggs and rotten tomatoes at me right here and now - or you may defer until you have read this piece with a little tongue-in-cheek Since this forum teems with true LTM experts (no irony here, I appreciate the knowledgeable and helpful members of this subforum), most of you may rightfully decide not to bother with these propaedeutic musings. No offence taken. Fig. 1: ca. 1955 FED-1(G), ca. 1951 KMZ Zorki-1b, 1932 Leica II(D), 1953 Leica IIIf(RD), harmoniously side by side. Although this whole post is is a bit off topic, I take the liberty to post in LUF, because even the Leica company museum in Wetzlar proudly exhibits an astonishing array of Leica clones, understandably, in order to underpin the desireability of the original.
  12. I've used my Visoflex 1 on my '37 Leica II, fitted with bellows, to take macro shots but I've just put it on my IIIf along with a 200mm Telyt lens to check it over before I take it out for some alpine photography in a few weeks time. The problem is that although I can swing the camera through 90 degrees for portrait and landscape views, the camera is not horizontal or vertical, but off by a few degrees. This means that I can't get horizontal at all (unless I unscrew the Visoflex slightly), and I can achieve vertical but only by moving the camera off one of the Visoflex end-stops (I hope that makes some sense?!). Can I adjust the 'end stops' on the Visoflex so that I can ensure horizontal / vertical setting of the camera? If so, how? Thanks, David.
