  1. Just a note to repeat what I've said before: I love my Leica MP. Thanks. Allan
  2. Not sure I can "love" a mechanical object but, in the spirit of the forum, I thought I ought to start a new thread for Leica's new film camera. (In truth, I think the M-A is really a variation of the MP rather than a different camera but I suppose Leica would like us to see it differently). It is certainly a handsome camera and, strangely, the M-A also feels a very modern camera.
  3. Why not? Everyone else is loving their cameras dammit. Actually I have an M6 as well but I still find myself grabbing the M3 first. I like the clean simple viewfinder and the build is just so impressive. All M's are made better than just about any other camera on Earth but the M3 is still king of the hill IMO. A recent addition of an affordable, well made 35mm V/C clip-on viewfinder has made the camera complete for me. (50mm has always been a bit tight for the way I see things.) And.. because I shoot Tr-X rated at 200 the little pocket exposure chart that I printed up and and laminated has me set for the proper exposure faster than messing with the arrows on the M6 or a hand held meter. Am I one of the last folks still shooting with this old classic?
  4. ... now that we had the "I love my MP, M6, M7" but what about the "under-dog", the black-chrome M4-P ? The first Leica having a VF with 6 frame-lines, a motor-drive or rapid-winder can be attached, all M-lenses with or without googles (including the DR Summicron) and the Super-Angulon-M can be used without restrictions. Isn't it the most versatile and at the same time puristic camera Leica ever made ?
  5. Hi, it is time to start a thread for MP3- owners. I love my black beauty- she makes the pleasant for our coming baby much greater! Where are the other 999 black and silver relatives? Perhaps we can see some here... Philip
  6. ...open thread Since I did not see any thread "I love my (Leica) M7" I'll open one, if you agree. My M7, I mean my 2 M7, make me great service and to thank this camera for services rendered, I start to post you a picture of my latest acquisition, instead of a M240. I "became allergic" to digital photos (edges and "smooth"* lines, "synthetic images"* for some pictures, "flat" and "without consistency" * "perfectible color" (compared to film), all of this brings me to leave my two Leica M digital more and more at home, now used as back up and my 2 M7 become my main camera, they accompany me everywhere even at 12,000 Kms from here. Each M7 has its attached lens , with one camera b&w film, and the other color film ! Here's a photo of my M7, that I just prescribe for me as "anti-allergic"digital image ! If you share my opinion , thank you to leave your comments or/and post a photo of your favorite camera You are welcome I know there has been problems with DX , but in my case I have no problem with my two M7 I just bought fifty rolls of Kodak Portra (160 and 400) , and my supplier at Paris told me that this film works very hard, he sells a lot. Film is not dead ! Best Henry * in italics, are the terms of my Leica Center consultant who retired this year , that I know him since the 1980s !
  7. Hi everyone, My first post after lurking for ages. I thought all the M2's were feeling neglected and couldn't stand for it any longer! Mine is lovely and with my 35 Sumilux asph. produces lovely results! No need to go digital for me. It is much easier just to get a scan when I need it! In berlin there are some really good labs too... Cheers and to lovely M2's Adrian
  8. I´m missing a thread about the not always be loved M4-2 so here´s the beginning:
  9. Why not? After two months working with the M I can say: I love my M. It sounds wonderful. It feels wonderful. Takes great pictures. And also thanks to Luigi it looks great!
  10. Sometimes, picture taking with the less featured Leica M calls me 😇. For many years, these are the less used M, I know why. As challenging process and (maybe) because one MDa has been repaired/CLAed recently, I want to know if I can use these again. Why not use those old "almost Leica" Super-Angulon 21mm, lenses that I "forgot to use" also for too long. I love these combos with Neopan (another story ! )
  11. Hi all, I did a search and it doesn’t look like we have a thread for this beautiful camera. I recently acquired this example from Meister camera and am looking forward to putting a film through it. The mechanical precision of the camera is amazing. Easily on par with my M3. The meter seems to be accurate based on comparing the readings I get from my Nikon F3. The weight with lens and leather half case is about 1300 grams compared to about 950 for my M3 with leather half case, Voigtlander meter and Zeiss 50mm f2 planar. The original leather half case is actually quite heavy at about 200g, but I like to use these to keep my cameras in mint condition.
  12. There are so many pinned posts for loving camera models that you have to page through a lot to find any non-pinned posts. How about moving all these to a new sub forum for camera worship?
