My M242 suddenly started to state in RED - "Check battery age" when battery is 100% charged. Doing that with several batteries. Is the camera monitoring battery impedance, or reading coded battery production date? Batteries appdear to be working normally despite "Check battery age" message. If battery is OK can message be removed?

Finally winter has come to Stockholm after an exceptionally warm christmas and new year. The sun was shining and I took the SL for a walk. With thermo-glowed there was no problem operating the SL. I now appreciate the placement and heft of the on-off lever being an on-offer. The other buttons were also workable. Thankful for their size. And my hands kept warm. I did not take any precautions with the battery. It was not fully charged and I did not hold the hand-grip to keep it warm. The camera hung on the strap around my neck. And the SL did function as usual. No temperature related problems during 90 minutes in the cold. (As the M does at these temperatures apart from thermo-glove usability issue.) /Eric

Hi folks, I have a problem with my Leicaflex SL and I'd really appreciate some advice. When I bought it, I put in a Cris adapter with a 386 battery - the meter worked just fine for about 2 weeks, and then just stopped working. Since then, I've tried several fresh 386 batteries with the Cris adapter and no joy with the meter. A google search found some mentions of the Cris adapter not working well with the SL. I really like the option of having a meter in camera, so I'd be very grateful for a solution, based on your experience. Many thanks, Raj

There are two negative pins and one positive on the Leica M8 & M9 charger. I put a meter on them and got readings I cannot understand - yet. They vacillate wildly within different voltage ranges. I've yet to apply the meter to a charged battery because the contacts are buried in plastic, but I will soon. Before I make an utter fool of myself, does anyone have an idea regarding the roles of the negative pins? Does one read the internal chip? Why do voltages change every second? One objective is to eventually read the internal chip to detect fake or defective batteries. .

Dear Members, The battery meter always reads 100% when I hit the info button ... always. Does anyone else have this issue?

Hi, I'm starting this topic because the battery charge indicator falls to about 70% after playing for some time with the menu options and taking about 10 pictures... Yes, 10 pictures !!! . What I discovered is that as soon as you turn the camera on, it starts measuring exposure, no need to press the shutter-button halfway down, it will stop when the time-out for power-saving stops the camera. Any similar behaviour to report ?

Hi, I’m trying to take longer time lapse recordings with the Leica Q. Any suggestions on improving battery life in this mode? It seems to be wasting power by showing the live view between shots. Have not found a way to disable this. Power saving mode makes no difference in this case. So far I have tried reducing LCD display brightness, switching to EVF-only mode, but it’s unclear if these helped... Thanks, Viktor

Anyone any observations about battery life? I took my CL out yesterday and admittedly it was long exposures, but only managed 60 images of 3-5 seconds on a full charge, before the battery died. Battery had been fully conditioned prior to use. At that rate it will cost more in batteries for a full days shooting than the camera cost! It really doesn’t help that Leica insists on hot pixel removal after every shot of a couple of seconds. Advice and recommendations appreciated.
