In Amsterdam this July I tried to get a few snappies from all sorts of people. This city is a place where the world meets. The special atmopshere there is special and so are the visitors. This couple strolled among a crowd waiting for buses opposite the "Centraal Station". Olympus EM5 + Nocticron

Last Friday and Saturday I went to enjoy the final days of Amsterdam Gay Pride, including the Canal Parade. I was carrying a minimalist set up: My beloved M Type 240 + 'cron 35 asph + Thumbs Up EP-10S + spare battery. Back home I made a Blog posting with some text and a couple of pictures, primarily to update my friends and family on the event, but of course you're welcome to have look, too: Gay Pride Amsterdam 2013 – a personal account | Norbert Steinkamp. Most of the evening and night shots in my report were taken at ISO 3200. In some situations it was so dark I wouldn't even think of focusing on something. The camera's been a delight to use. I was operating it in classical RF mode, which implied hip shooting and focusing guesswork. I may bring the EVF next time, however, while being a great tool for the exact work, it often interrupts fast and intuitive picture taking.

Here are a few more impressions from streetlife in Amsterdam. I tried to catch these moments with my new Elmarit 90mm R lens mounted on Canon 5D MKII. Many young people go there to have a good time and celebrating a hen-party or stag-party. That is the reason why you see them in strange outfits.Since these are no portraits for the people thread I post them here. Have a look at the collection and I am glad if you'll take time for the fun. a fine saturday afternoon in a beer barrel. In May we went for a daytrip and it was the first outing for my R-lens Elmarit 90mm mounted on my Canon MKII. So, this time I also did a lot of street photography, which will be posted later on on the people thread probably. Here only a few classic views but one . Who ever would like to have a look is welcome - thanks in advance for taking time. typical rich decorated facades gables of all kinds and ornaments I think the people living in Amsterdam are outnumbered by their own bicycles in all variations the world comes for shopping this idyll still can be seen in many places. People still live a more or les comfortable life in their houseboats.

once a year we visit the city of Amsterdam. This time I carried all the equipment and the X1 served as backup. It was a pleasant sunny day and a few hours passed like just a moment. Just have a look and thanks for viewing. The day I was in Amsterdam I bought a Leitz Elmar 50mm 1:2,8 from 1961. I had my M8 with me and of course wanted to try out this old glass. So I did, take a look at a few shots I took during that day. Thanks for watching and please critique is welcome! I also wanted to see the resolution of the lens, see last 2 images. It was quite stunning, but not surprisingly, since we are talking about leica glass here.
