  1. I've read one long thread and a few mentions of this phenomenon here on this forum. I'm curious of todays status regarding the rattle issue with this lens. I recently bought a mint in box 35 Lux FLE second hand, the lens is perfect in every way except that it sounds like a rhythm instrument. Mine is a 416xxxx meaning its 2012 produced. It has no back/front focus, It's super sharp wide open at f/1.4 and the focus ring is smooth and nice. The aperture ring is perhaps a little loose, but not bothersome, and about the same as my 50 lux. The sound is only apparent when the lens is moved up and down, not side to side (front element facing upwards) and is surprisingly loud, so loud that if I'm indoors in a silent room i hear it on my hip as i'm walking out. As soon as the ambient noise rise it drowns though. Meaning, it doesn't bother me that much. After researching the matter i understand that Leica has stated that this is normal and that it's the aperture cage that rattles and that this is a part of the design assuring that the lens will function optimally. I also read that different copies are affected differently, some pretty much silent, some rattles with different volume, and some vary depending on f-stop (mine quiets down a little at f/16) Now, in 2016, how many current owners of the Summilux 35 FLE is affected by this? I'm also curious if anyone reading this thread have purchased a new-in-box lens that do/don't rattle. I'm also interested in hearing from members that had the lens CLA'ed with this issue. I heard that Leica can use some shims or similar to mute the rattle if requested.
  2. This might have already been covered somewhere.....but here it is: Since getting the Summilux 35 ASPH FLE (11663), I have been troubled by the inconvenience of switching between shooting with and without the lens hood. In fact I like the lens without the hood, which is shorter. But in very sunny days I really also want to have the lens hood attached. I'm not one of those gutty ppl who can do without a protective filter. hence the problem: Whenever I remove the lens hood, I feel I should attach the thread protector, which can only be done by removing the filter first, as the thread protector has a lip that prevents it from being screwed into place if the filter is attached already. The other day I chanced upon a strange solution, as I looked at my fuji x100 and wondered if its lens hood adapter will actually fit the 11663's exposed outer thread. Well, it does fit. so I have been using it since, as it can be screwed into place with the filter attached to the lens. Sometimes I just use the x100's hood instead, which can be attached and removed easily. You can also flip it and attach it the other way around, which to me looks a bit better: Granted it doesn't look as nice as the Leica thread protector that comes with the lens, but it is indeed more convenient. Oh and...slightly increased finder blockage with the x100's hood, but the difference seems quite negligible.

    The "Pizzardone"

In Italy, but in particular in Rome, the local police man is called "Pizzardone". This one was actually standing outside the Place of the Major of Turin. M7, Summicron-M 35/2 ASPH, Tri-x 400 cheers, Massimo
  4. Some photos taken yesterday in Turin downtown. This is the historical palace called "Palazzo di Città" where there is the office of the Major of the city. M7, Summicron-M 35/2 ASPH, Tri-X 400 cheers, Massimo
  5. Simply using a tripod, 21mm 3.4 ASPH and a flashlight to create the product shots below. Not sure if People section is the right place for these photos...but I can't find "product shots", and I treat my motorbike as my GF~ LOL #1 - V-Rod Muscle + Reality Stone~ #2 - The "fire" was actually my hand lit by the flashlight... by mistake #3 - My friend's bike - Kawasaki ZRX400 #4 - Honda CBR250rr
