I am selling my black Leica CL along with lenses, case, grip and adapter. Prices of individual items: Leica CL (case, grip, batteries etc): USD 2000 Super Vario Elmar 11-23: USD 1600 <---- the SVE has been spoken for. Payment pending. Summilux 35/1.4 USD 1800 L-Adapter M: USD 240 Reasonable offers especially on more than one item considered. The camera in excellent condition along with Leica half case (brown) and a the CL grip (cannot be used in conjunction. The camera works flawless - I never had any issue with it whatsoever. The number of exposes is probably slightly above 1000. The camera has been updated to Fotos compatible firmware. External look is almost spotless except one or two very minor marks only visible under close inspection. Two additional batteries are included (one original Leica, one third party). I have purchased the CL new in December 2017, thus the camera has got Leica warranty until December this year. For the lenses and the adapter, I was not able to spot any marks but won’t completely exclude the possible existence of minimal traces under extremely close inspection. I have purchased the lenses new in December/January 2017, thus the lens has got Leica warranty until December this year. This is a private sale so any warranty / guarantee requests have to be dealt with Leica directly (on request I can add a copy of the purchase receipt). Payment can either be done through Paypal or Bank transfer. No additional costs for the buyer. Shipping outside of Switzerland at cost +-. US/Europe would be around CHF 40 per parcel (2kg). The X1 was, if I recall, the first true compact, fixed lens APSC camera. The X2 improved upon that and the X113 was a dream. But that was in 2014, and its ISO performance and AF speed could do with what would be a much update. Leica has mentioned that the CL is an effective replacement for the X series. The beautiful sensor produces images very close to that of the M; its AF speed is now reasonably fast; and the size and dimensions - especially when used with the 18mm - is certainly X sized. And let's not forget that beautiful viewfinder. However, I would argue that the CL does not offer the same straightforward, no nonsense manual simplicity of the X series, which is what set the X apart from everything else. Those beautifully engraved and dedicated aperture and shutter speed dials made its operation effortless. While I did try the CL, and was impressed by the image quality, I did find the non-labelled, multi functional top dials something of a pain, and often found that, while in busy areas, the dials could inadvertently change the settings, which was a constant source of frustration. In this respect, I personally hope that we will see either a CL 2 that adopts the X operational philosophy, or alternatively, a new X3. I would be fine with the return of the 2.8 Elmarit, the 1.7 Summilux, or if they somehow managed to cram a collapsible Summicron into an X2 sized body, then that that would be wonderful. Make that collapsible Summicron a manual pull out and you have something that would probably be more robust and nostalgically charming. In a recent interview, Leica did say that they were not ruling out the possibility of a fixed lens APSC compact camera, but it would depend on whether or not there is clamour for it. What say you?
Hi all - haven't been very active on here - but promise some images soon! Anyway to the point - I've been really happy with my used T camera purchased in April but have mostly been using for images of my ceramic work that I make. I have been using the Voigtlander 35 1.4 Nokton Classic and also the Leica Elmarit-M 90 2.8, with some excellent results. However after a trip to Greece this summer felt that I am really missing the wide angle end of the scale! My budget isn't overflowing, but interested in what you all felt I should save up for - How does the original Voigtlander 15mm 4.5 fair on the APSC sensor? Reviews of it on FF were pretty bad! I am going on a trip to India/Nepal next Easter and would like something for all of those sweeping landscapes I am expecting to see, as well as lots of crowded city shots! HELP PS I am damn impressed with the T - I know I am a couple of steps behind their current offering but it has proved itself to be a wonderful little thing!
With the launch of the TL2 and the CL this year, Leica has boldly put its weight behind its APSC systems. The cameras look and feel great, though they would undoubtedly benefit from a richer selection of fast lenses to partner with. Personally, I see the TL / CL cameras filling an important void for M shooters. With rangefinders, lengths between 24-50mm tend to hit the sweet spot, and while the fast telephoto lenses render beautifully, manual focusing a 90mm Summicron on a rangefinder for candid street or action is borderline masochistic. In this respect, it would be great to see TL Summicron or Summarit prime equivalents of either the 75, 90, or 135 focal lengths, all with fast auto focus. I know we have the 55mm - 135mm zoom, but F 4.5 is not workable in low light, and the 60mm F2.8 Macro, while gorgeous, is a little too slow to auto focus. I would love to know what other people want to see on the TL lens roadmap. Let us build a little public pressure to ensure that these smart systems get the lenses they deserve.
