  2. Hi all, I"m considering buying a Leica TL2 which I want to use to take photos in the same way that I do with my IPhone for street photography. That is, touch screen focus only and most of the time I use burst mode to be able to nail the shot in terms of people moving into the scene. Questions: 1. Is the quality of the LCD on the TL2 comparable to a smartphone (I'm using an Iphone 7 plus currently)? 2. Does the TL2 have a 'continuous shooting' option or only single shot? I couldn't find this in the specs. 3. Can you program the camera to choose the focus point and take the shot simultaneously by a single tap on the screen? Or do you have to tap on screen to choose focus point and then press shutter button? 4. Is the AF fast enough for street photography? 5. I would be buying this camera with the new pancake 18mm lens. Would I be able to get maximum depth of field with this combo, as with a smartphone? That is, I want everything to be completely and equally in focus from foreground to background. I do not want shallow depth of field. I have looked at other cameras (Sony, Fuji etc) but the larger LCD screen is the main attraction with this camera so that it is similar to an iphone experience but better image quality. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Parasko
  3. I just found something slightly annoying when using the 24-SFD (A-Mode) and the Q. I know, it is not the latest flash model, but however, it reasonable in size and I have it ... Problem: When I activate the flash and try to lock focus by pressing the shutter button half-way, the focus is instantly unlocked again (focus box becomes green for a split of a second and then white again). Now I can configure the Q to only focus when pressing the AF/AE lock button, but this configuration is not my preferred one in all circumstances. And yes, I can manually focus, too. Any thoughts on this or anything I am doing wrong? Thanks
  4. The ability to autofocus Leica M lenses strikes me as a neat development. Has anyone used the Techart adapter for autofocus of Leica M lenses on the Sony A7-II, the main camera for which the adapter was developed? I'm especially curious about how the AF adapter performs with larger lenses and R lenses using an R-M adapter in addition to the AF Adapter. According to the Techart website, the motor in the adapter should be able to quickly autofocus lenses weighing up to 700 grams.
  6. Hi I use my SL mostly, if not to say exclusively, for photography. Mostly portraits. I don't know much about video. So now we got a new horse and I want ocasionally make some short clips. My first attempts with AF were a failure, I don't know if it's me or the camera (I think it's me). So what AF-settings would you suggest to start with? The set are four horses, two all black (seems impossible to focus them in AFc without hunting AF) which should be captured in the movement. Any idea? thank you!
Jetzt Ihr!
  8. I'm a little confused at this stage. Only because I haven't got enough experience with AF on SL, I have only received my 90-280 zoom this week and to-date been shooting with M lenses only in MF mode. To make things worse, I come from the Canon platform where it was working somewhat differently. What confuses me is the AFc vs AFs modes and then the Static vs Dynamic (Tracking) focusing. So I can set the camera to Static AF. But still I can set it up with AFc ... Or set it to Tracking and to AFc. There is a number of permutations on these settings. Do you have the same problem of getting your head around it?
  9. I've used my SL for several months now and I'm planning on photographing an upcoming 5K run. Since this will be my first time using the SL in "dynamic tracking" mode, I'm hoping someone could please give me advice as to the best AF settings. I'm assuming I need to select "Dynamic Tracking" (or would Face Detect work?). Beyond that, I'm not entirely clear from reading the manual as to the pros and cons of choosing "Point", "Field", or "Zone" when tracking a subject. For example, I use Point in static mode to get more precise control over the focus point, but if I choose "Point" to get a specific runner, will tracking be handed off to the other AF points if (when) he/she moves off of that AF point, or does only the individual AF point remain active? Similarly, if I choose "Zone", does the tracking get handed off to the remaining AF points if the object moves out of the selected "Zone"? Applying my experiences with Nikons, I think I should choose "Zone", but my internet searches haven't found anything explaining how things work with the SL. Any help in pointing me in the right direction on AF settings for dynamic tracking will be greatly appreciated!
  10. Is the metering lock the same as Back Button Focus like on a DSLR?? Can you use the thumb button to activate AF and then recompose and take the picture like you can on the Leica S Thanks Neil
  11. Hello fellow Leica Q owners I seem to be unable to use my Leica Q in AF mode. The MF sign is constant in the top right corner of the EVF/LCD and no matter what I choose in the Menu I am unable to activate AF. I am stuck and frustrated. User error or technical glitch? Any ideas welcome cheers William
  12. Hello, I used a 90 mm f2 apo with Leica M adapter on the SL. Manual focus point defaults to the centre after every shot. Is this normal for this combo of lens + SL? I find it rather bothersome to move the focus point to the area (eyes) I need after framing the shot. If I focus first and then frame the shot, I will surely have soft images at f2. Anything I am doing wrong? Any suggestions? Thanks.
