Recently I left a camera bag under the seat on a flight from Seattle to Atlanta when I deboarded. Long story but I switched seats and it did not. I got off the plane and remembered but of course could not go back to retrieve it. After the plane was empty flight attendants went back to both seats and could not find the bag. In the bag was my Leica Tele-Elmarit type 2, f 2.8 with Fuji adapter and rear cap, rubber lens hood and Leica cap, Serial # 2967787, X Pro 1 Ser # 21A06330, 32 Gig Extreme SD card, lens pen, 18-55mm Fuji XF zoom Ser # 24646629 and all in small LowePro ready bag, the somewhat triangular type that allows quick access to the camera and only a little more storage. I have filed a report with Delta Airlines and the Atlanta authority. TSA does not take lost/stolen reports but directs all items to the airport authority. After 2 weeks - no luck. I remember some time ago, that Leica had a stolen equipment registry provided you filed authority reports. I did. But I do not find that registry now. Is there still such a beast? Perhaps forum members can direct me to the best methods of notifying the camera world of lost and stolen Leica and other equipment. I have heard that the EXIF data of the camera data can be tracked if someone posts a pic shot with the body. Has anyone tried this and has it worked? Are their any methods that have been successful in recovering such equipment?
