I recently got one Nikkor S.C 5cm f1.4 lens. It took me three adapters to make it work on my Sony A7 - the Nikon-Leica thread mount, the LTM to M mount and the Leica M to Sony NEX mount. Not too difficult and lucky that the focus is still correct after the stack of adapters. I have put other pictures at BigBigLens.com - Nikkor. I only started street photography a few month ago. I need critical comments.

The person I bought it from said they bought it from a seller in Japan a few years ago. And they got the lens CLA'd (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust) this year. Serial Number: 125167 It weighs 111 grams when there's no caps on it. It has "50mm" instead of "5cm" written on the front of the lens, which it would indicate that it's an earlier model I believe. There's an "o" on the barrel by the focus lever, which would indicate that this is a standardized lens mount. Underneath the focus leaver there's the number 5 (as shown in the picture), I don't know what this means. I think the focus lever is at the 11 o'clock position? I'm not sure how to tell. I tested it and found: 105 cm / 41 inch closest focusing distance. The rear plate has distances in feet. I don't know if Leica sent certain countries a different plate, or if it was replaced by a distributor, or if it was replaced in the decades after it was first sold. Interestingly enough there's no "Germany" or "Made in Germany" that I see on other exported lenses. Full album with more more picture and in higher quality: https://imgur.com/a/bhQcwHI Is this lens legit? Was the rear plate with "feet" replaced by a 3rd party? And is this really 1931 or 1932?

Hi there, my name is Wim, I’m from the Netherlands and I am new on this forum. I came here because i bought a Old black leica camera in a thriftstore. I got curious about the name of the model, if i can make it work, it’s value, and if i could clean and (if needed) repair it myself or if its better to bring it to an expert. I already did some research on the forum but i couldnt find my exact model and lens. Here are some pictures. I hope you can help me out with some info!

I currently have an M9-P on order as well as a Summilux 35mm f1.4 asph. I am fairly sure that the camera will arrive long before the lens will and, being a newcomer to rangefinders and Leica, I do not have any other lenses (yet!). One option is to buy a used lens which will see me through until the 35 Lux arrives and then, hopefully, sell it and not lose too much. My dealer has a Leitz Summicron 5cm f/2.0 for sale. My question is (an here is the newbie part): Does the '5cm' bit equate to a 50mm prime. Logic says it must. Also the details for the lens does not state whether or not this lens is 6 bit coded. My guess is that it is not a coded lens. If I am right in the above, the last question is, is this lens worth considering as a 'cheap' interim solution? Thanks for any advice.

hey, last week when I was dropping off some film to be developed, I saw an old leica that the lab was selling (the lab is also a camera store), from my little knowledge of leicas and after researching a bit when got home, I deducted that it was either a III or a IIIa, and it was being sold fitted with a collapsable 5cm f/2.0 Hektor for the equivalent of around US$390. if I remember correctly, the serial number of the camera started with 17, so I think it's one of the first produced. So, my question is: do you think that is a fair price for the III(a) with the 50mm f/2, considering that the body looked mint and the lens looked nice, though I didn't analyze it much. Also, do you think that is a usable setup? I would definitely need a meter, since I can't figure out an exposure just by looking at the scene, so how much is one of those leicameters and are they hard to find? I would also like ask if you think I should wait until the end of the year and then get a used M6 or MP (if I'm lucky) then?
