1. Hi L Camera users, I have got help from you many times before and now it is time again. I have following equipment today: M9, 28mm cron, 35mm lux FLE, 90mm Tele-Elmarit I am shooting mostly landscape and portraits and would like to shoot more portraits of my daughter now when I am leaving for three months parental leave. I am thinking of 50mm Lux or 75mm Cron (current ones). In my opinion 90mm is too tight. I have tried them both several times but are pending back and forth. I like them both but can only afford one right now. I like the focusing knob on the 50mm and the closeness of the 75mm. I do not like getting too much into the frames of the 50mm but I also do not like the focusing frame lines for the 75mm etc. etc. etc. But I like very much the 1.4 on the Lux and the distance to your subject for the 75mm etc. etc. :) For those of you that have used those two lenses much more than I have, what is your experience? What are your pros and cons? How would you do? Thanks.
2. I've found a good deal on a pre-asph 50 lux 1.4 (43). From what I understand, the 46 is optically the same as well. I was looking for some examples to evaluate sharpness wide open. I know the ASPH is where the sharp end is, but it's not in the budget, sadly. I'm just curious as to how sharp (or not sharp) the 43 version of the 50 lux is. I have the 50 Planar f/2 which I like, but I'm looking for something with a bit more low-light flexibility. I know the 50 lux won't compete wide-open in the sharpness department, I'm just curious how far off it is. I've searched through flickr, but it's a crapshoot with all the differently coded lenses, so if anyone has some example shots I could look at (bonus points for higher resolution, so I can peep a bit) I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
3. Who's tried the Leica Summilux 50 PRE-ASPH Version II on an M240 ? Would you kindly share your experience (and maybe even some images)? I would sure like to know how this lens does with the new Leica M. I know Summilux 50 ASPH 1.4 is amazing - I've seen the pictures! And while I'm sure that the pre-asph ver 2 is not "as sharp" and perhaps doesn't have the contrast of the ASPH model ... there's just something about how the pre-asph lenses "draw" that is so compelling ... that and the painterly character of the bokeh they produce. I imagine the pre-asph lenses at 1.4 are less sharp in the corners but wondering if that their reduced resolution might create an interesting transition effect moving from blur to sharpness? If you've been shooting with this lens on the m240, what are your thoughts? Anyways, love to hear what you guys think who've tried this combo.
4. another view from the Schramsberg Winery in Napa Valley California. MM 50/1.4 iso 10000 thank you for looking kaethe
5. A quick visit today to the nearby Napa Valley, and a visit to the hand-dug tuffa caves for the Schramsberg Winery. I highly recommend the tour with the generous tasting, although reservations can be difficult to get, and I really recommend the handcrafted sparkling wine ( even thought it is the new world and the vines only date back to the 1860s! ) MM 50/1.4 iso 10000, it was really dark in there, mostly candlelight. kaethe
6. I was in the garden this morning... Just for fun, just for color. Thanks for looking and any comments. M9, f1.4 pre-asph lux 50mm

In the Fountain

Children amazed and delighted with the water jets in the 500 Year Fountain. It reminds me of being a child in NYC during the summer and delighting in the open fire hydrant. Thanks for looking and and comments. M9 50 pre-asph summilux
8. I liked the movement and the relationship between the statue and the mother and child... all with a background of sparkle. Harsh mid-day light. Many thanks for looking and especially your comments. M9 50mm pre-asph summilux

Musica Tipica

This Sunday I went to the 42ed annual Festival del Cuatro Puertorriqueno in San Juan. Its a celebration of the musical tradition on the island and features players from all parts of the isla using locally made stringed instruments. One of the performers agreed to a portrait before she went on stage. In a monochrome state of mind I shot my M9 in jpg/BW mode. 50mm pre asph summilux Thanks for looking and for comments.
10. Objects of lust or Veblen goods- will all the sexual desire focused on the 50mm Lux now be directed at new Cron? I'm not talking about rational thought but pure passion. Deer rutting in the woods....
