Hallo Forum! Mit einer neuen M-E werde ich demnächst von der X1 in der Leica-Welt aufsteigen. Erste Tests mit einer M-E und dem 35er Summarit-M haben spass gemacht. Das Prinzip Messsucher passt mir gut. Nur jetzt bin ich im Dilemma. Da ich über die Zeit wahrscheinlich ein zweites oder evtl. sogar ein drittes Objektiv kaufen werde, kann ich mich für den Start nicht entscheiden und brauche Eure Hilfe. Ich denke mal, für meine Einsatzzwecke Event-, Reise- & Street-Fotografie werde ich am Ende bei 35, 50 und 90 mm ankommen. Jetzt ist aber finanziell nur ein Objektiv drin. Hier bietet sich entweder das 35er oder das 50 an. Nur welches? Die zweite Frage betrifft die Qualitätsstufe. Das 35er Summilux ist mit seinen 1,4 schon ein tolles Werkzeug für Gigs und andere Motive. Aber 3.750€ ist schon eine Ansage. Die nächste Stufe darunter ist das 35er Summicron, das im einen oder anderen Posting schon ganz schön negative Bewertungen bekommen hat. Das untere Ende der Fahnenstange ist dann das 35er Summarit. Speziell hier fürchte ich aber, dass es nicht ausreichend lichtstark für available Light ist. Gar nicht so einfach, die Objektivauswahl… Wenn ich das 35er erst mal auslasse und mich auf die 50mm für den Start konzentriere, sind die Preise zwar deutlich angenehmer und auch das Bokeh soll bei einem 50mm Objektiv viel besser sein (stimmt das?), aber ich bin einfach verunsichert und brauche Hilfe. A couple weeks ago, the focus ring on my 35 Lux got stuck and some distance that was not infinity. I don't mean it was a little sticky. I mean it was stuck. I applied a little bit of force, and it came unstuck and has been functioning normally ever since. Any idea what caused it to get stuck or if it's something that should concern me if it's working fine now?

With an obvious debt to David Bailey's portrait of Michael Caine I intended to make it B&W, but the colour is also nice - which do you prefer?

Not sure if this is an approriate place for this since only the lens used is Leica, but nonetheless. I have a handful of initial pictures at Mumbai and Singapore Photo Gallery by Vikas M Gore at pbase.com The first one is infact with the 14mm to 140mm lens that came with the camera (1/10 sec handheld proved surprisingly stable) but the others are with a 35mm Summicron. I found that the highlight clipping mentioned in the DPR review really is an issue so I had to do a lot of highlight recovery for the highlights on the flower and also reduce the exposure by nearly a stop. Less of both in the two shots from further away. The lens does not communicate focal length and aperture data so mentioned these in the file names, hopefully remembering it right! Focusing with focus assist is easy, though if your camera is not held steadily the image moves a lot on the screen in the close-up assist mode! - Vikas

I just had the opportunity to spend three days documenting every day life in Havana. Due to a happy coincidence (read, the amazing support from my dealer in West Palm Beach), I got my Leica M9 just before the trip. All images were shot with a 35mm Summilux. I fell in love and became a convert of the 35 angle of view on the full frame of the M9. Wonderful! I hope you enjoy them. Martin.
