  1. Hello, I have a M-D (bought second-hand) and it's the perfect camera for me who started out with film back in the 90's. In any case, I don't shoot in continuous mode (single only) and for the first few years, I haven't had any issues but as of late, I've been having shutter lag issues. I would turn on the camera and have to depress the shutter and wait for the camera to "buffer" or whatever it is. There's a blinking red light on the back bottom right of the camera. I have to wait anywhere between 10-20 seconds. After the lag, I can take photos (as many as I'd like) but once I stop shooting and regardless if I turn the camera back off or leave it on, after maybe 10-20 mins, when I depress the shutter again, there's the same lag. I initially thought it had to do with the SD card so I bought new SD cards with very high read/write speeds. But it doesn't seem to help. I'm not sure what else it could be unless it's some sort of degradation and there's not a whole lot of information out there on M-D. Most shutter lag posts have been about Leica's with back screens that the user can change options, update software or shooting in C-mode (none of which applies to me). Help? Thanks.
  2. I am curious to know if one has to "struggle" to see the edges when using a 28mm on M 262. I use spectacles.
  3. Hello. I'm interested in hearing from anyone whose made the move from an M9/M-E to a 262. How are you feeling about your decision? I've recently replaced the sensor in my M-E, which included a full CLA from Leica, NJ. It feels like a new camera, but I'm also reminded of the only gripe I've ever really had about it: Limited ISO performance. I max out at 1200, but even that can turn a Summer afternoon into a snowy day in B/W. I'd love to (when necessary) shoot between 1600 & 3200 without the resulting photograph becoming an exploration in Pointillism. In addition, weather sealing and the larger sensor seem like a plus. Let the CCD vs CMOS debate begin! So good people... What say you? Thanx!
  4. Does anyone know what exactly the 6-bit coding is doing in case of a Leica M-D 262? The camera records in DNG only and there is no way of manually assigning a lens profile in-camera. Is assigning a lens-profile in camera (like with a typ 240) the same as assigning it in Adobe LR afterwards? Also, I was trying a Zeiss ZM 18mm but the sides shaded terribly and color shifted to blue/magenta. The same happened with a Voigtlander 15mm lens. I am wondering what the results will be with a 1980's uncoded Leitz Elmarit 28mm. I kind of liked the rendering of the Elmarit on the M6 in the days, but will it shift the color like the Zeiss/Voigtlander? Of course the 28 is not as wide as the 18 or 15mm's. Anyone experience with this?
  5. Hello, I have been a hobbyist photographer for about four years, and I recently transitioned from DSLR to mirrorless (Sony a7r ii). I love my camera, and I mostly do urban landscape, street photography and natural landscape. Although I am very good with technology (I have a background in engineering), I have to admit I'm a little tired of menus and technology, and I find the simplicity of Leica what I'm looking for. However, I have some concerns about moving to Leica. I sometime do studio modelling (again, for fun). Will I be able to nail the focus, or should I accept the idea of not accepting as much precision as I could with a mirrorless/DSLR? I hear people seeing that the quality of Leica lenses is stellar. But, is the 24mpx an issue in an era where we have 42mpx photos and soon 80mpx? Thank you,
