Hi everyone, I am considering a purchase of the zeiss biogon 25 mm f/2.8 lens to fill a hole in my focal lengths between 21 and 35 for my M system. I primarily use an M8, but also have an M3 DS. Are they any of you out there using this lens? What are your opinions? Popflash has a great deal on a 25 biogon modified for M8 framelines, which may be a nice option for me. For me, the 28 mm focal length is too close to 35 mm, and I probobably wouldn't use a 28 mm lens. I have considered the 24 mm elmarit, but it's much pricier than the biogon, which some individuals say outresolve the elmarit. I would love to own a 24 summilux, but the cost ($6,000 USD) is too much for my wallet. I have briefly thought about the CV 25 f/4, but I understand that this lens has some issues with decentering and is slower. As a caveat, I have read Sean Reid's excellent review of the 24/25 lenses on his website (Thanks, Sean, your site is AMAZING), and enjoyed the review. My read on Sean's review is that the biogon draws differently than the elmarit and doesn't have the "je ne sais quoi" of the elmarit, but maybe I am wrong. I wanted to gather opinions of the lense from other current or former users as well. The price of the biogon is right ($1,500 cheaper than the elmarit), but what about IQ, rendering, micro/macro contrast, and how the lens draws in general. What have been your user experiences? Did you like it? Have you gotten rid of it? Is the elmarit justify the price difference between the biogon (subjective question, I know)... Thanks for helping me with your thoughts and consideration.
