Hello, I am wondering if getting a 0.85 would be detrimental to my shooting experience if I plan to shoot primarily 35mm and 50mm. The reason why I am asking is because I found a great deal on a 0.85 but not a 0.72

Apologies if there are similar threads to this one - I haven't been able to find answers to my questions specifically. I recently sold my M3 since I'm looking for a body that accommodates wider lenses and has a hotshoe. I don't need a built in meter and am on a budget, so I wouldn't consider the M6. I also find the M5 too bulky, so this leaves the M4-2 and M4-P. I will mainly be shooting 28mm and 35mm lenses, so the M4-P seems ideal since it provides framelines for both. My first question is therefore whether the extra cost is warranted for 28mm framelines, or if I should opt for an M4-2 and use the entire viewfinder to approximate the 28mm focal length. Also, since there are few "user condition" examples of both models available online, I'm wondering how reliable the hotshoe is on these cameras - I use flash a lot and problems in this department would be a total dealbreaker for me. Would it make a tangible difference to opt for a late M4-P, or is it safe to assume that the hotshoe will function well in most cases regardless of model or year? My instincts tell me the M4-P is the ideal camera, but since there are a few M4-2's available for very attractive prices, I'm hoping someone can convince me otherwise!

I saw a M7 with 0.85 finder on eBay, but not the "a-la-carte" version, it comes with its original box, manuals, papers, body cap and shoulder strap... the seller said that, it is very rare~ anyone can tell me...? is it more expensive than the 0.72 version at its original price? is it rare? also.... is the concept similarly apply for MP? ...I want to get one 0.85 for my 50mm lens... : ) here is the eBay link (just for reference): Leica M7 RARE 0 85 MP Finder rangefinder Film Camera Body LNIB 4022243105058 | eBay

Hello, I posted this question in the german forum also, but in german language. I use 50mm lenses nearly exclusively (sometimes 40mm also). But I'm always positively surprised, when I look through my Bessa R3A viewfinder. It has 1.0x magnification, is bright and clear. In any other aspects I really prefer Leica Ms. I always frame and shot with both eyes open, so a 1.0x viewfinder is essential for me. There are several ways to reach this and I hope some of you got some hints for me: - Has anyone a 0.72x Leica with an original 1.4x magnifier? Is the 50mm frame visible without moving the eye? - Has anyone a 0.72x Leica with a third party 1.35x magnifier? Is the 50mm frame visible without moving the eye? - Has anyone a 0.85x Leica with an original 1.25x magnifier? Is the 50mm frame visible without moving the eye? - Has anyone a 0.85x Leica with a third party 1.25x magnifier? Is the 50mm frame visible without moving the eye? I have a 0.85x Leica M6 with a third party 1.15x magnifier. Framing with both eyes open works great, but I'm not satisfied with the optical quality. But my dealer offered me an inspection and replacement. When I got the part back, I report you. Nevertheless I would be very pleased to get some hints and experiences Danke, Gottlieb
