  1. My first photo with my first Leica! Approaching the Geyser basin in Yellowstone on the Snow Road and the the cold temperature generates clouds of billowing steam against the sun. The lone tree on the plane of the old volcano basin provides context amongst the field of crisp cold snow.

  2. My son and I continued our tour of the steam railways of Britain this weekend with a visit to "Buzzrail" a preserved narrow gauge railway originally used for hauling sand from the quarries to the mainline. Apparently Leighton Buzzard sand is so good they even sell it to Saudi Arabia. The railway runs about three miles to the Stonehenge works. These visits are always a great opportunity to add to my collection of candid portraits, full of characters who are willing to chat about their hobby whilst I indulge mine. LBLR-2
  3. The locomotive Hinton Manor is on static display at the Designer Outlet Village in Swindon. M240, 50mm Summilux-M ASPH.
  4. I visited STEAM museum in Swindon UK, one of many visits over time, to experiment with hand-held photography using higher ISOs than is customary for me. Much to my surprise, and it was well before Christmas, all exhibits were draped in tinsel. So here is my contribution wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas. (X Vario, full aperture, ISO 1250; hand-held; LR5) N.B. For non-Brits, Brunel was a famous pioneering railway engineer who founded the original Bristol to London railway and built his engineering works in a former little village called Swindon, roughly mid-way along the line. Swindon is now a very large English town with no railway workshops. The remaining buildings mostly form a busy Outlet Centre for designer goods, apart from the museum.
