  5. Duisburg, Landsape Park North, This industrial park is so full of potential that one can spend there days of shooting in different light and with different lenses. This time we were drawn to its wideangle aspects. Leica Q

  7. Thank you to everyone who took part in February's Barnack's Monthly theme, which was filled with a wonderful array of over 840 pictures and excellent ideas and interpretations of the theme! Thank you to everyone who helped to make it the THIRD most successful month in Barnack's Monthly's history! And particular thanks to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it an interesting and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us! The Barnack's Monthly theme for March 2016 is: "Something blue." This means any picture that contains or is about something blue (but not the pornographic kind please). It could be a blue mood, a blue moon, blue eyeshadow, a blue tit, a blue jay, blue cars, blue bars, blue barbells, blue baubles, a blue snooker ball, a blue ball gown, a blue doll, a blue troll, a blue mole, a blue tattoo, a blue lagoon, a blue baboon, a blue buffoon, a blue telephone, blue gin, a blue pin, blue glass, blue glasses, blue eyes, black and blue, a blue police box, a blue cake box, a blue cake, Prussian Blue, Russian blue, eggshell blue, Royal Blue, a blue royal (postage stamp), a blue garter, a blue nun, bluetooth, blue teeth, a blue wreath - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free! It would be a help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view but it's not compulsory. Members have asked if we'd very kindly name the camera and lens used - if you can remember - because it's interesting to know but, again, it's not compulsory just helpful. The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with this month's theme in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting! It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures, seeing others' take on the topic, and enjoying it! Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts, pictures that have been posted on the forum before, any equipment as long as it and the photo complies with the forum's rules of either camera or lens or both made by Leica. Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this thread. So, if you'd like to show your acknowledgement or appreciation that someone has posted their picture then instead of posting a comment please use the "Thanks" button that you can find at the bottom right of every post. Please post away and I look forward to seeing your interesting interpretations of this month's theme. Note: Moderator Pop has very kindly assembled links to all of the past Barnack's Monthly threads as a single archive that can be found here: Barnack's Monthly Index. Thank you, Pop! Pete
  8. The Blue Hour was promising after a couple of days with cotinuous rain and gry depressing sky. A few nice bylanes with historic buildings we have and at this hour nobody was there and I enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. 2.0 - 1/50- ISO 800 Leica Q
  9. When the winter sun is ot even the forest can look delightful. Temepratures were mild a a kind of spring was in the air. Leica Q, pano stitched from 3 pictures
  10. We spent a couple of hours from afternoon until dusk at this glorious place of Baker Beach in San Francisco. Being quite busy with two systems I am glad to hav carried all that gear around. Olympus EM5 with Nocticron
  11. On monday when coming home from my work the sky changed into a promising foreboding glow. I grabbed my stuff in haste, snatched a sturdy tripod, snatched my raincovers and when I sat in the car it started raining. As I reached my location it seemed as if the major downpour happened somewhere else. In front of my eyes there unfolded a spectacular light and cloud formstion. I could not run for a better vantage point because light changed very quickly. Canon 5 D MKII with R Elmarit 28 mm and Olympus EM 5 with Nocticron. The colors were as such, processed from RAW the files only underwent a small correction in contrast and came out of the camera in these incredible colors. I used a GND filter for the Elmarit which gave me about 3 f-stops freedom for exposure. EM 5, Nocticron, 4 pictures pano
  12. The village square, St.-Julien, Bordeaux, at dusk. M240 with 50mm APO-Summicron at about f/2.8.
  13. On some hills there was being preserved a kind of snow in a very thin layer. As last sunday was sunny, with blue sky I just roamed a bit. This area is on the hills at my city and a crowd of sunseekers was enjoying a touch of coming spring even. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 90 mm
  14. In these bright and mild november days it is a plasure to stroll in the countryside. Olympus OMD EM 5 with Summilux 15 mm, one color version and one IR veriosn with Hoya 72 filter

    gentian

Our botanical garden is a constant source of photogenic subjects. This little flower is so rare and under strict protection. Look at its color shade. for getting this I had to block visitors out from passing. Interested people asking. "Are you doing this professionally?" - Yes ....silence please ( Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 180 mm
  17. mild temperatures brought forward all blosoms and all greenery forward and everything is 4 weeks earl this year. So to explore the countryside and forests is pleasant. Difficult light for exposures is most tricky because of the bright sky and much stray light. Therefore I used a combination of filters. In this case graded ND filter + polarisation filter on Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 28 mm
  18. it was early enough in the morning to search for one of this species sitting deep down in the grass. I knew from one of my earlier inspections that I would find them here. Yet it was a challenge for this my first attempt. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 60 mm macro+2xconverter,flash mounted on a tripod and handheld reflector. The camera was dismounted from the tripod in favour of being free to kneel and with the reflector under my ellbow I tried to approach very carefully. It was rather dark deep down in the grass, so to bring in thee some light was neccessary. Next time I know better how to manage.
  19. almost dusk in the streets of NYC and the sun came down quickly. Again my X1 as back-up. Late march this year.
  20. exploring a small local creek we were attracted of the variety of water state: frozen, falling, flowing, Light was light blue in the shadows reflecting the blue from the sky. Since I decided to leave my R Elmarit 90 mm mounted on MKII plus Leica Apo 2x converter for this distance and so the lens told were to search for motives.
  21. last sunday was a sunny day and we scanned a little local creek for something to shoot. We found many things as soon as we got focussed on the small things alongside the water Canon MKII with Elmarit R 90 mm + Leica APO converter2x
  22. this is one of those pictures when a hazy sun showed up for an hour and then vanish to leave everything grey. I gave sky and land a different treatment of contrast in PSE to exploit what the sensor captured to its limits. I know it is a matter of taste but this image is just the impression I had when taking the picture. Have a look! Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 60 mm macro
