  3. Hey, I went to Vietnam this summer and shot a series that was among other featured on the leica camera blog. You can check that out here: http://blog.leica-camera.com/2016/09/25/lounging-in-vietnam/ But of course I shot a lot more than just those few images in the series! So I still had a ton of photos from my trip to Vietnam buried in Lightroom. I haven’t posted any of them anywhere because I couldn’t really figure out how to arrange them in a story that would make any sense. Also most of these photos are a tad too touristy for my taste. But since I still really like them and can’t stand the thought of never showing them I decided to split them up into a couple of smaller sets and post them on my blog - of course fully aware that tumblr is pretty much dead these days. But hey, any place is better than the depths of my hard drive. All photo are taken with a Leica M6 and the 35mm Summicron IV on Kodak Portra 160 or 400. You can find some of the photo already on my blog and I will keep updating over the next few days. Blog: http://lifeon35.tumblr.com/

  14. Whilst walking through Lido Di Jesolo after a day out over summer I just so happened to be in the right place at the right time. The light streamed through a gap in the buildings diffusing the fountains with a beautiful golden light. Just at the moment a young girl decided to cool off. 17. We have spaces available on our special Leica 'Akademie' street photography workshop on the 28th of October 2016 in the centre of Bristol. This one day course will introduce attendees to the Leica M digital system and how to use the rangefinder system in a street photography environment and is open to both experienced users of Leica cameras as well as those who are new to the M rangefinder system. There will also be an opportunity to use the Leica SL and Q systems in a street environment. Leica Akademie tutor and freelance photographer, Robin Sinha, will host the day and introduce us to the Leica digital M system and how he uses it to maximise his street photography. The day will start at 10am and run until approximately 4.30pm, this will contain a two hour practical part of the day where you will have the opportunity to use the Leica digital cameras in a street environment. 10.00am – 11.00am – Robin Sinha will introduce you to his work with a short talk using his own images to demonstrate Leica Photography. 11.00am - 11.30am - Review and mini-critique of attendees images (attendees are asked to bring 4 images on a USB stick that represent their photography) 11.30am - 12.00pm Familiarisation with the Leica camera range prior to photowalk. 12.00pm – 12.30pm – Lunch break 12.30pm – 2.30pm – Photowalk around Bristol using the Leica cameras provided 2.30pm onwards – Back to the studio for image review and critique. Robin will also demonstrate how to edit your RAW files to get the best from the digital system. 4.30pm approx - finish There is a small charge of £20 for the day, which includes refreshments of tea or coffee. Unfortunately lunch is not provided, but there are plenty of local places to get something during the break. If you wish to book a place on the course, please email bristol@lcegroup.co.uk or call 0117 9291935. Please let us know if you have any queries.

  20. Hi all, a brief announcement that I’ve just finished work on my second self-published book of photographs. Captured with the M Typ 262 and 28mm Elmarit-M (version IV) during a week’s travels through the North of Italy, the book presents 32 black and white photographs ranging in subject matter from people to places both natural and constructed. I’m really proud of how this project has turned out. The book is printed on thick 170gsm uncoated stock, with the covers being an even heavier 300gsm. The size is somewhere between compact to standard at A5 (210x148mm), which gives each print enough room to breathe without feeling cramped. Also exciting is that, working with a professional printer who works at reasonable prices, I’ve been able to price the book at just £15 + shipping. For those who are curious to know a little more, I’ve written a bit more on the back-story on my blog. You can also watch a trailer that I produced for the book here. Finally, if you’d like to pick up a copy, please slide on over to my online shop to do so. Thanks kindly for your interest, and happy shooting!

  22. I have just posted a new blog post at https://gerrywalden.wordpress.com/2016/09/05/just-one-roll-of-film/ which sabot a roll of film I shot in 2003 using a Leica M6 and (I think) a Summicron f2. It features 9 images in mono of a Mela in Southampton. Please take a look. Gerry
  23. I shot this in Beijing in 1998 using a Leica M6 and 50mm Summicron f2 lens. The film was Tri-X. I have just got around to scanning it as part of my efforts to digitise many years of film images. I guess these streets have disappeared now since the rebuilding for the Olympics. I have just started shooting film again with a M7!

  25. Good morning, From time to time I like to give myself a project to try and enhance my craft and keep me interested. This year my project is street portraits. It definitely puts one outside of one's comfort zone. My approach is simple, I look around for interesting characters, approach them and ask can I take their portrait. I have only been declined once (a nun who was praying) it is disappointing but important to respect this even when it means missing a fantastic shot! Most people are actually really happy to be asked, I like to chat a little whilst I am shooting to set people at ease and get more relaxed photos. People have even thanked me for taking time to talk to them which is really nice. I always show them the shot after on the LCD and tell them my website address to see the image later. I'm thinking of having some business cards printed to make this easier. I like to shoot wide open to get separation. One of the staff at Leica Store Manchester gave me the tip of focusing on the eye then moving your head slightly back and forward to find focus rather than use the ring (I'm sure people already know this but i thought it was a good tip). I like to shoot half a dozen frames whilst doing this to ensure focus is on the eye not slightly out. Though I do sometimes miss shots still and kick myself afterwards Anyway, here is one from a rather wet day in Kendal in the Lake District UK Street Portrait Kendal by Robert Michael Poole, on Flickr C/C always welcome. Thanks for looking Rob More street portraits can be seen on my website here: https://robertpoolephotography.com/portfolio/street-portraits/
