  1. Hallo Zusammen. Audemar
  2. I find it a bit difficult to nail the focus when using the APO 50mm on my M10. Even on a tripod with the shutter speed on 1/125, the f-stop at 5.6 and the portrayed person 3-4 meters from the camera it seems hard to nail the focus, even though i'm 100% the object is dead on focus in my viewfinder. The problem occours both with the built in optical viewfinder and also with the electronical Visoflex viewfinder. I thought the days with back focusing problems were gone, but can it be the combination is "suffering" from back focus? Could it be some other misalignment? Or could the combination just be badly calibrated?
  3. Here are some videos and reviews about the new Leica M10 (I'm sure you already read Jono's Leica M10 review in our blog...) I start with two videos from the Leica Event on January 18th: Leica CEO Oliver Kaltner about the “Celebration of Photography” and the Leica M10 Kai Wong (Ex Digital Rev) BTW - here is his new Youtube channel

    M10 Artifacts

Hello everyone, long time reader first time posting. I purchased a Leica M10 from Camtec in Montreal almost two weeks ago and I'm in love with it. I used it on a few shoots and just recently on a weekend getaway. More often then I'd like to admit, I miss the exposure and rely on the dng to recover. So when recovering the shadows in an image I underexposed dramatically, I was surprised to see red, blue and green pixels lighting up all over the place on the image. Does anyone know what these could be? I've never experienced this with any other digital camera. And I don't think it's dust, these are pixel sized points. Thanks in advance! Andrew
  7. The glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon, Iceland, taken during the first Workshop I led in Iceland, last December. Leica M10, Voigtlander 15mm v. III and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  8. Ladies and gents, I searched the net since quite some time for experiences and examples that demonstrate the performance and quality of Leica M10 or SL files for large printing. With large prints I mean sizes up to 150cm (60") on the long side. There are lots of comparisons and reviews between cameras of different makes, e.g. between SL and Hasselblad X1D, but they concentrate mainly on usability or spec-sheet resolution etc. They don't say anything about the final product, which is the print. Print quality from files of a particular camera is nearly never mentioned or discussed. I would like to ask the community here for experiences with printing large from Leica full frame cameras such as M10, SL, 240 or even M9. I know, many of the answers will state "quality is subjective", "depends on viewing distance" or "depends on expectation", etc. But maybe this thread is able to shed some more light on people's experience. I'm sure there must be some prints out there of such sizes. Did you send your SL or M images for example to services such as whitewall.com to produce such large prints? Do you print yourself? How do M or SL files hold up in a 40x60" print? Are they totally inferior to a print from digital medium format... ? Cheers, Peter
  9. After selling all my Canon L gear 24-70/2,8 , 70-200/4. 50/1,8 After shooting with iPhone 6plus I am coming to conclusion, that i search small camera with one lens. Not bag with all gear. My needs: -28 or 35 mm lens -50 mm lens -shooting wide open -shooting low light -travelling - simplicity - auto iso, aperture priority and rest is just enjoying photography - preferably 2 bodies - we shot both with my wife when with family or travelling I have tried Leica Q and was impressed with simplicity, speed, but 28mm seems to me to be too "deforming faces of people" and rather think about 35mm lens. I didnt like Leica CL - toy feel with strange wheels on back, and Leica SL is too robust like Canon DSLR... I am searching real photocamera - well build, but as small as possible. What set would you suggest me and why? Is there any web site comparing 35 and 50 M lenses with real photos? Money are not issue, i am going to do investment for the rest of my life and enjoy. M10+35mm - which lens? Leica Q50mm - autofocus and video (if it commes) or M10+50 mm - which lens? Leica Q - autofocus and video or just M10 with 2 lenses?
  10. Armed with the Leica M10, a handful of US Dollars and my fedora hat I landed in Cuba and made this story and some photos. Enjoy! http://overgaard.dk/Leica-M10-digital-rangefinder-camera-page-02-Leica-M10-goes-to-Cuba.html
  11. These are not scientific comparisons or tests. I just wanted to see how the output from a 91 year old Leica camera stood up against that from the 'latest and greatest' from the company. http://macfilos.com/photo/2017/10/23/a-tale-of-two-leicas-90-years-apart I believe that the older camera shows up very well here. Comments are welcome, even from 'pixel peepers'. William
  12. Hello. I would ask for opinions. Which is a better aplication for processing exclusively and only Leica M dng files (Leica MD, Leica M10)? 70% is a conversion to black and white, 30% in collor. I would ask for your experience and opinions between two applications, LIGHTROOM and CAPTURE ONE. Which gives better end results and why? It's only for Leica M files and not files of other camera brands. Thank you very much. Best regards.
  13. An SF 40 I purchased used is unreliable. It will no longer flash after a few days of light use - died during an afternoon Thanksgiving celebration. Fortunately, I had a Canon EOS 5D mk IV and 430EX III-RT flash to use for flash pictures. But it was very frustrating that the M10 and its TTL flash didn't keep working. Everything lights up and the head zooms manually, but no flash, either from an M10's trigger or the open flash button (the LED ready light). Changed batteries to a freshly-charged set when I got home - still doesn't flash, even though the LEDs light up So bottom line - SF 40 may NOT be up to professional standards of durability, and you may want to avoid it for TTL flash with Leica. Admittedly this flash was (lightly) used, but it's still disappointing. Seems like the company with the best optics in the world has only unreliable TTL flash. I used to use a Metz 32MZ-3 / SCA 3501 for TTL flash with an M6 TTL and M7. It worked great on those cameras, but doesn't work with the M10 (or my old M8). And used Canon 430EX version 1 speedlites have been rock-solid on many commercial shoots. Just seems like Leica can't get its flash act together. *** Does anyone have any suggestions for a reliable TTL flash for the M10? ***
  14. Here is a review of the excellent Classic Case for the Leica M10 which is made in Scotland by Paul Glendell. Paul also provided a magnificent strap to go with the case. http://macfilos.com/photo/2017/10/23/classic-case-of-scotch-quality-cover-for-leicas-m10 William
  15. I've seen this with the other Leica cameras i have as well, and it's the same with my new M10. How do i force my M10 to start image numbering from 0 and not continue from the number that last was written to the card (even though it came from another Leica)?
  16. I have posted this in the Collectors and Historica Forum, but I felt that M10 users might also be interested, so I am posting here as well. These are not scientific comparisons or tests. I just wanted to see how the output from a 91 year old Leica camera stood up against that from the 'latest and greatest' from the company. http://macfilos.com/...-90-years-apart I believe that the older camera shows up very well here. 17. Some AGM photos, here plus lots more shots of the city of Chicago. It was a wonderful event in a wonderful city. http://macfilos.com/photo/2017/10/23/chicago-gallery-leica-society-of-america William
  19. The only glitch so far - for some reason neither of my Lexar 633 64GB / 95 MB/s cards are recognised. They worked fine on the SL and M-240. I've reformatted using SD Formatter, but the M10 simply doesn't recognise the card and isn't able to format in camera. Anyone else with similar experiences? My Sandisk 32GB 95 MB/s Extreme Pro work fine. I'll log this with Leica... Possible firmware issue?
  20. A few thoughts on why I shoot the Leica M10/M240 and Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 for Weddings on the Steve Huff blog.
  21. As photographers we are always striving to improve and I have now near enough ditched a lot of my Canon camera equipment in favour for the Leica rangefinders and I now enjoy my photography so much more, I just love the rangefinder way of working and I am super happy to make the jump - thanks for all your inspiration on the other threads on this forum too - Epic work!! Here are some shots taken from all the weddings in the last 4 weeks since receiving the Leica M10 and a very few are with the Q and the M9: http://www.dsbcreativeblog.com/marchapril-storytelling-wedding-photography-with-the-leica-m10q/ Lenses are: 35mm 1.4 Summilux Asph / Elmarit 28mm / 50mm 2.0 Summicron Have a good evening folks and thanks for taking time out to read this post!!
  22. After five months using the Leica M10, 20,000+ pictures and through 12 countries I finally made my first part of the Leica M10 review. I go over the SD-cards, Lightroom profiles for M10, EVF use and design, and more in this article. Enjoy, next article and video coming up real soon :-) http://www.overgaard.dk/Leica-M10-digital-rangefinder-camera-page-00-Expect-Simplicity.html
  23. I have ordered a black Leica M10 and have not received it yet. I also got a 2nd hand previous version 28mm summicron ASPH. I have read a lot of reviews that suggest this lens might have some issues with digital sensors like corner softness wide open. http://macfilos.com/photo/2016/5/24/leica-28mm-f2-summicron-asph-a-comparative-test This article by Jonathan Slack mentions that due to the presence of a special micro-lens design, special firmware profiles and a thinner cover glass over sensor in the M240, the performance of this lens with the newer iteration with M240 is very similar. I am not sure if this is the same with M10 or not. I wanted to know if any of you who have already received their M10, have tried it with this version of 28mm? Could you please provide your feed back on the same? Thanks in advance!
  25. Trying to match the silver lenses with silver filters and Leica-Q-like 46mm silver caps. Are there any? Also any silver ND and Polarizers out there?
