  1. Does anyone have any info about using this old flash unit with an M9. Its a hot-shoe unit but without the cutout that allows it to be pushed fully into the hot-shoe receptacle. (probably just as well) Maybe someone has tested the polarity and size of Volts and Amps that go through the release contacts. It may blow the system and ££££s will flow. Maybe some advice about other flash units will surface with this question. Maybe I should leave it to use with my Spotmatic and SMC Takumars.
  2. Hi guys (and girls), Is there any way to use the M9 in ap mode and get the flash to fire above 180 th?? (use an orbis ring flash wireless for fill normally) Thanks Si
  3. Hi I recently bought an M7. Up until I have been using Nikons, I have a couple of Nikon flash Units and I wanted to know if I can use these flash units with M7. Do I just connect these with a cable or are there issues with voltages. Thanks in advance.
  4. Dear All, I received as a gift a used SF Flash. Probably bought in the US or UK. I might have a problem with reading the instructions but I couldn't trace how to change the setting from feet to mtrs. Can anyone please help me? Thanks a lot for your attention.
  5. I am interested in using my M9 in studio with some Novatron lights. Does anybody have a suggestion regarding a good hotshoe-to-PC adapter? Thanks:rolleyes:
  6. About one month ago I sold my Canon 5D MK2 all lenses and flash accessories, today I’m a proud owner of a Leica M8 brand new and a second-hand M6, 28mm f/2 Summicron ASPH, 50mm f/2 Summicron. I’m not a pro but a serious amateur, with the occasional wedding to shoot. With this in mind, should I be buying the 24D or the SF 58 flash? I’m not a big fan of flash and probably will us it on rare occasion, but I need one! Want some know-how feedback on this one? Thanks Bernard
  7. Hi all, I am saving up for my first digital camera ever --you all know which one--, having worked with an MP and R2A over the last few years. I sometimes miss TTL flash capabilities, and was expecting these to be included in the M9. So, what's up with this M-TTL system? It sends out a pre-flash, but how and when, and can you take the picture in one go (i.e. no delay between pre- and main flash when pushing the shutter). I am not at all an experienced flash user, please forgive me if I am asking a silly question. Thanks for enlightening me.
  8. A friend of mine scored a surplus Metz 45 CL-1 flash from his work that was destined for the bin and very kindly gave it to me as he knew my interest in photography. For reference, here is the flash on the Metz site. Unfortunately it didn't come with any sort of cord or SCA module to hook up to a camera. I would like to use it with my Digilux 2- is it compatible, and what would I need to get it working? I realise I will probably have to find the wide angle diffuser to use it at minimum focal length but I can live with that, considering it was a gift!
  9. Hello Most Highly Esteemed Fellow Members: I am thrilled to own and shoot a V Lux 1. I am a professional and use mostly medium (Hasselblad) and large (Sinar) digital cameras. However, times being tough and clients being more frugal, I decided recently to shoot some of my portraits and fashion product images with my Leica V Lux. Camera Question is: When mounted on the hot shoe of the Leica V Lux and the Camera setting is on Manual (as it always should be!), the aperture defaults to -and remains immutably and unchange-ably on- F4. I have read the manual which claims that if the camera is on Aperture priority, the F stop will always be F4. However, the manual claims If the camera is set on Manual, the aperture is user adjustable. This does NOT seem to be the case when using the Pocket Wizard mounted in the Hot shoe. The camera is indeed good enough to use for commercial work, but it sorely needs to be capable of F stop adjustment when using off camera strobes. Any advice from anyone with experience in this matter? Thanks in advance, Wick Beavers Fine Commercial, Advertising and Portraiture Photography by Award Winning Photographer Wick Beavers
  10. Canon has brought out a new 270EX flash for its DSLR's, and it is everything we could want in a flash for the M8. It is diminutive in size- to match the small size of the M8, relatively powerful with a GN of 27meters, with a bounce head. If Canon can do it, why not Leica? I have the Metz 58AF equivalent for use on the M8, and it is bigger than the camera! One of the advantages of the M8 is its small size compared to a DSLR and this large Metz flash defeats that benefit. The Leica SF24D which I also own is a great size but too weak with no bounce capability, good only for short distance interior fill shots. 11. Perhaps I may be considered pre-historic for having a D2...but I am a happy dinosaur if so. And a poor one, so I am sticking to the D2 for as long as possible. Anywho, Question: Are there any attachments for a D2 to convert to a wider angle lens? There are only a few frustrations I have with the digilux 2 and that is the non-detachable lens....oh why? Oh and the flash - no bouncy bouncy!
