  1. The Sigma is actually about 300 grams lighter then the Leica 24-90 and quite a bit more compact. I’m very much impressed with the image quality of the Sigma 24-70. Only things missing are the stabilization and the possibilty to go to 90. Advantage of the Sigma is a constant 2.8 aperture. If you add the gorgeous new Sigma 85mm 1.4, you’re still only at about half the price of the Leica 24-90. I would definately give the Sigma a try.
  2. If F2.0 is enough, I highly recommend you to take a look at the new Sigma 65mm F2.0 DG DN that was recently released. I bought it this week as an AF portrait lens option for my SL next to my M primes and I’m really, really impressed with it.
  3. Hi a.noctlux, Thank you for your reaction. Do I understand correctly that the 5.6 aperture in combination with the ISO performance of the 1st Monochrom works fine for you? Do you manage to make the combination work in lower light situations? What limitations do you experience?
  4. I'm thinking about adding a 28mm Summaron f/5.6 but wonder how well it will work with a Monochrom version 1 (CCD) because of the limited ISO performance compared with the M10. Is there anybody who has used this combination? Would you recommend the lens? The old school IQ and compactness are the factors that make me consider this lens. How would the Summaron compare to the 28mm Summicron and the 35mm pre asph Summilux?
  5. And would you buy one with the original sensor? What would be the chance that I run into the corrosion issue with the sensor?
  6. I have the opportunity to purchase a used Monochrom 1st version with the original sensor for about $2200. I read a lot of these cameras suffered from the corrosion issue and when that happens, it would cost me about $1550 to replace the sensor (it is just passed the 5 year guarantee). And in the case of a sensor replacement I end up close to the price at which I could buy a used copy of the newer 246 / 2nd version. What would be your advice? Pull the trigger and take the risk? Or look further for a copy with a replaced sensor?
  7. Since about one year I’m the proud owner of a M10P and enjoy photography using the M system a lot. Mainly taking pictures of people and street photography during my (business) trips in order to create content that I want to share on the new website that should launch in about 1 or 2 months from now. Next to a Summicron 28mm and a Summarit 75mm, I own a Voigtlander 50mm f/1.2 lens. After reading some reviews (claiming superb image quality and Leica glow of the Summilux) I am more and more tempted to add a Summilux 50mm f/1.4 asph and would like to understand how this lens compares with the Voigtlander. Is there anyone on the forum that owns both and can share his / her experience using these lenses? How close are they in character and image quality? What are the differences? And would you recommend me to get the Summilux? Or do you think it will be almost the same in character and image quality compared with the Voigtlander? Your thoughts and feedback are highly appreciated.
