  2. oh asher isnt my son! i would have a hard time letting a 6yr old play in that park. im after the culture as well as the actual shots of the skaters skating. i too liked the shadows although i dont think this was the best use of the B&W conversion! to the others thanks for the encouragement ill keep shooting and posting and we'll see if theres anything there. best melissa
  3. ok! i got silver efex pro. this was really quick and dirty post. i havent ahd time to really play with the software yet. my only fear is that ill make 10 versions of ea. imae and never be able to decide! this was what i was going for originally in terms of shadows and composition.
  4. i too use imageprint ColorByte Software - Home of ImagePrint i have an epson 4800 mac and mac 30" display. i havent upgraded to the current version of imageprint because it still doenst let me print through lightroom. so my workflow is. import to lightroom, correct, import to photoshop load paper profile so i can see what print will look like. make (usually minor) corrects to profile, save as, open that version in imageprint. i usually print on 17x22 paper. best melissa

  12. thx i think this series should be b/w. we'll see. after he got out of the pool he told his dad-this helmut sucks! why? said his dad, after watching it save his kids life! asher said-because my neck hurts... so yes he did get hurt. its a very odd place the skate park. it used to be that the kids were the rebels. now sponsership has come into play so the parents have embraced skateboarding and are encouraging their kids to take risks. the parents are also at the park "coaching" some of the kids. one of the older kids told me that when it gets relly crowded they kid t

  18. this is one of the smartest things ive read on this forum. it makes perfect sense to me. ive noticed a slight difference in the feel of the focusing ring on the lens when im in my las vegas home vs my beach home. one is the desert and the beach is obviously far more humid. ive thought perhaps the lenses do react to the environment. since i have zero training in this i thought i was just making up conclusions based on feel rather than conclusive science. clearly nicole knows what she talking about. thanks Nicole very interesting stuff. no worries i will never stand betw

  23. jaap, im not agreeing and then going off. im saying i understand the timelines of handmade. i also think a deposit is fine. but 7k is alittle more than a deposit. leica can impose whatever conditions on their dealers they want. any manufacturer can. my main (poorly stated) concern is that i believe people who are independents, shouldnt be forced to pay large somes of money for gear upfront to remain competitive in their profession. all replies indicate that i have a problem with B&H. i dont. ive used them for 15 ys. i was using B&H as an example. also the tone
  24. i posted this in another thread...this isnt directed at B&H just the whole pre-pay thing. i am understanding of leicas predicament in terms of production. handmade takes time. we order we wait. in a way leica is endorsing a back-up system, nikon, canon... and thats ok too. what im most disturbed about is that leica is allowing their big distributors to force their clients into pre-pay and/or large deposits. i realize that im in the us and policies may differ here than in the rest of the world. here money in the bank can collect interest, not to mention be used to pay bills or
