On November 21, the 28th Westlicht Camera Auction starts in Vienna! Among numerous other historical treasures a Leica IIIc from 1942 from the personal property of Ludwig Leitz and a black finished Leica M3 from the first production series will be auctioned.
The Vienna auction house WestLicht will sell rare cameras and famous photo prints on the occasion of "175 Years of Photography" and "100 Years of Leica". On November 21st the focus will be on pictures and on November 22nd, 2014 camera rarities will come under the hammer.
100 jewels of Leica history in one auction: On occasion of the Leitz-Park opening and the anniversary of Leica, WestLicht organizes a special auction on this Friday in Wetzlar.
The Stan Tamarkin December-auction was a full success: Five prototype lenses went under the hammer for over $210,000 and several historical cameras and lenses were auctioned.
Leica cameras with round serial numbers seems to be paying off - At 24th Westlicht Auction a Leica M3 Chrom with the serial number 1.000.000 was sold for 840.000 Euro.
The next Tamarkin auction is a treasure trove for Leica experts and collectors. With a large selection of rare cameras, lenses and accessories Tamarkins fiscal year 2013 is completed.
Leica Madness at Westlicht: At this weekend a gold plated Leica III was sold for stunning 528,000 Euro, followed closely by aLeica M3 prototype (432,000 EUR) and a Leica Reporter 250 prototype (240,000EUR). The Leica IIIa of photojournalist-legend Alfred Eisenstaedt still achieved a price of 114,000EUR.
