Blackstone to sell stake in Leica Camera AG
According to this Reuters article Blackstone is in talks to sell its 45% in Leica Camera shares.
A potential new joint partner would have to arrange with majority owner ACM holding owned by the Kaufmann family. Dr. Andreas Kaufmann has repeatedly pointed out that he pursues long-time goals with Leica.
German optics manufacturer Zeiss is mentioned as possible partner but according to Reuters’ sources would only agree to overtaking a majority stake of Leica – which makes an all German deal unlikely.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei would be an obvious guess but is said not to be interested.
