The results from the Westlicht Photographica Auction
The 20th WestLicht camera auction was held on the 12th of November featuring 650 lots including cameras and photo works of Berenice Abbott, Richard Avedon, Henri-Cartier Bresson, Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau, Elliott Erwitt, Wilhelm von Gloeden, Philippe Halsman, Horst P. Horst, Germaine Krull, Mary Ellen Mark, Helmut Newton, August Sander, Jan Saudek , Bert Stern, Josef Sudek and Paul Wolff.
The highlight was lot number 9, I Mod.A Elmar ‘Calfskin’, that had an estimated price of between 28000 – 32000 Euro and was sold for a staggering 100.000 Euro (Hammer price excl. Premium).
The M9-P chrome + Noctilux 0,95/50mm chrome had an estimated price between 25000 – 30000 Euro and was sold for 40.000 Euro (Hammer price excl. Premium)
The black-painted Leica MP No. 28 (Lot 137) was sold for 121.200 Euro (Hammer price incl. Premium) with a starting price of 22,000 Euros.
But this red painted Leica underwater housing reached the peak price in this auction. The price raised from the starting price of 12.000 Euros to 150.000 Euro (Hammerprice incl. Premium)
