kaikeong Posted May 17, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted May 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everybody, Â I own a 50mm F0.95 lens which I love it. However lately I shown great interest in the new Leica 50mm F2 APO ASPH too. My question is do you consider it weird or waste of money to own two 50mm lens especially when the APO ASPH 50mm is rather expensive. Currently I use my Noctilux as a everyday and night photography lens. Does anyone carries two 50mm lens? Noctilux for night photography and the other for everyday lens? I am beginning to feel the weight of the Noctilux as a everyday lens. Â Any advice and thanks so much. Â Â Alex
Advertisement Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Hi kaikeong, Take a look here 50mm F2 APO ASPH. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DMJ Posted May 17, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted May 17, 2014 Alex, Â I started the same. I wanted only the Noctilux 0,95 & M240 but it has got somewhat out of hand. I bought the Apo f2, then the Zeiss Sonnar for that classic 1930s look & have just got a Summilux f1,4. They all look at the world the same (50mm) but they are so different. The Apo is amazing & so different to the Noctlilux. Detail is stunning (not that the Noctilux is a slouch). If you can afford it then it is worth it; don't just think of them as 50mm lenses. And yes I do sometimes take 2x 50mm's at times plus a wider lens. Â Martin
Fgcm Posted May 17, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted May 17, 2014 It would weird to own One 50 only I have many. I agree with you on the weight of the Noctilux. I prefer the lighter and smaller Summilux Asph. Â The only question about the APO 50 is: can you afford it? If you can, get it at once. Â Franco
jip Posted May 17, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted May 17, 2014 I've got a 50 elmar-m 50 summicron-m and a 50 summilux-m asph. all great lenses all with their own character
CrisRose Posted May 17, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted May 17, 2014 I carry both the Zeiss 50/2 planar for general use and the Voigtlander 50/1.1 Nokton for lowlight, so no. Â Sometimes I even pop the 1949 50/2 Summitar for its unique look as well.
jbl Posted May 17, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted May 17, 2014 I have six or seven 50mm lenses. My favorite focal length. There's nothing wrong with having more than one .

rirakuma Posted May 17, 2014 Share #10  Posted May 17, 2014 There's nothing wrong with carrying two 50mms if it suits your shooting style. Those lenses have completely different rendering and it would compliment each other nicely. The only gripe I have with the APO ASPH is that its very expensive, I consider it more of a luxury than the Noctilux. I personally would rather settle for a lux asph but if money is not an issue then sky's the limit  Hi Everybody, I own a 50mm F0.95 lens which I love it. platypus Posted May 18, 2014 Share #11 Â Posted May 18, 2014 Oh yes...go ahead and buy the APO 50, it is a brilliant lens (actually probably even better than that!) and every little bit helps to keep Leica in the business of turning out the wonderful products from which we all gain so much enjoyment and fulfilment. kaikeong Posted May 18, 2014 Author Share #12 Â Posted May 18, 2014 Yes! I think you are all right. Thank you for the answers. I have placed order for the 50mm F2.0 APO ASPH lens and will be collecting it on this Wednesday. I am excited as I heard so much good comments about this lens. Can't wait to try it on my Monochrome. juju01 Posted June 3, 2014 Share #14 Â Posted June 3, 2014 For those of you who own both the 50 Summilux and 50 APO Summicron, which one do you use the most ? I am now building my lens kit and not sure which one of these two to get first. I know they render differently but if you had to get one first, which one would it be? I have an M240. Â Â This question may be answered for you by the fact that the 50 APO is unobtanium, while a 50 Summilux can be gotten in a day. I'm waiting 9 months now for an APO but at least I have a Summilux to use. If I were you I would just pick up a Summilux and then see whether you need or want an APO. Jeffry Abt Posted June 3, 2014 Share #17  Posted June 3, 2014 Why not rent them and decide for yourself?  Jeff  Jeff, he is asking for "our" input.
