  2. It’s a few years since I last used my 664 non-standard Elmar on the Fed body that matches its shorter than standard registration, see earlier posts. Copies of today’s darkroom prints.
  3. Doing such crazy things like that with a viewfinder camera is like driving on the highway blindfolded and trying to find the exit. But it helps to think the pictures before pressing the trigger.

  5. No, that is not what the P2P graphs show. You are the only knowledgeable person I know with that twisted interpretation of DR graphs (P2P or else). I have tried explaining what DR and DR measurements are about several times, but to no avail. Not at all. If I shoot 1/1600 at f/5.6 at ISO 100, I will have four stops less DR in my image than at 1/100 at f/5.6 at ISO 100. Try it out, and look at the noise in the shadows. DR is the difference between an image's max and min values.
  6. A wonderful portrait, Stuart. In my opinion it could use some more light (could be added in post processing), as she, esp. in her face, looks a bit too dark compared to the Vespa. If you don’t mind I could send you a suggestion per pm 😀

    L Lenses

If you did not try an M lens yet, I can definitely recommend it. Nothing beat the compactness and lightweight of the smallest 28, 35, 50 mm Leica M lenses. (maybe the 18mm and 23mm TL can compete) Of course it is MF only. But with A mode and the left wheel to set magnification I do not have issues with that. One of my favorites is the old Summicron 1:2.0/35mm v3. And one of my favorite zooms is the Leica Vario Elmar 1:4.0 35-70mm R lens. When I am lazy, I take the Lumix S 20-60, nice 30-90mm eq. but IMO no match for these 2.
  8. The forum is running at reasonable speed for me, however, I today back to getting the indexing issue per my post #58 above. Interestingly I cleared both my history and cache for the first time in a long time this morning. MacBook Pro M1, Safari and Sonoma 14.4.1
  9. According to Leica, it's designed to fray somewhat and provide better grip. It's not a material made to look good. I used to clean mine with a damp microfiber cloth gently dabbing at aramid fiber. The fiber is supposed to fade to a green color over time, but what you see first is a grey tint due to the fiber's texture collecting dead skin cells and dirt.
  10. Yes, I find my old Elmar indeed nice and sharp but sharpness falloff is a bit more course as compared to my V1 summicron. From the elevator in the depot (so sorry for the window reflections) M246M + VM color skopar 21/4

  13. Beautiful image, Brent. Well done.
  14. How many misses with SL3 + Leica lens? And, out of 10,000 images, the difference between alleged 2 and 50 misses is statistically insignificant.
