  1. Past hour
  2. Thats good to know. They weren't there before I sent my lens in for service and suddenly appeared after I received the lens back. I was worried they might have "over greased" it and/or wasn't careful with the lens when servicing it and contaminated the blades with oil/grease.
  3. cool way to extract the icc camera profile from the raw file, think ill use this and save all the icc's and dump them into LR exiftool -icc_profile -b -w icc [raw file or jpg]
  4. Those ain’t oil. Bad quality blades you can call it.
  5. I posted a wildlife shot I took with it yesterday in the SL2-S image thread. I still can't believe I took it with my own camera... magic indeed
  6. Dr. G - I too have trouble with the 28, and also sold my Q. I tried, but couldn't find the magic formula to get comfortable with it. I asked the original question about the APO 35mm because the vast majority of my shots over many decades occurs with a 50mm lens. I was thinking that since the 35APO SL lens is a Peter Karbe favorite I might give it a try. Having said that, I don't know how much use it will get, and dislike having great gear sitting around unused. I tried the Sigma ART 50mm SL f/1.4 and loved the images, but the weight was a factor. I have the relatively newly released Leica SL-Summicron 50mm f/2.0 ASPH (sold as part of the Leica bundle) that seems to work very well for me. It may be a "rebranded" lens from another manufacturer, but as part of the Leica bundle the cost was $700 more than the camera body alone. At that price I'm delighted with it, and likely would have bought a Leica branded lens anyway. The 50mm is my preferred focal length, relatively lightweight given the L mount size, and balances better than I expected. I toyed with getting the M mount equivalent, but wondered if it was worth it. Likely not for image quality, and speed of capture, but I greatly miss having a "real lens" with distance markers and setting hypercritical focus and just enjoying composition. That's why the M body always tempts me - it's the thought of fully manual controls, even though that's not quite true. On the other extreme, despite selling the SL 24-90 Elmarit Zoom, largely because of weight, I do miss having a Leica branded lens with the equivalent of 6 prime lenses built into it. I don't often use a 24, really find the 28 overly challenging, maybe use a 35, already have a 50, can appreciate a 75 for portraits, and maybe have a use for the 90 FL. It's a heavy beast, and I don't really need many of the focal lengths, and it's terribly uncomfortable carrying on a strap. It likely wouldn't get much use, just like the first time I bought one. Despite all of that, I still want one. Not because I need it, or even want it, but more because I love how it feels in hand. It makes me want to shoot with it. Sounds like a typical Leica owner - I can justify anything if I work at it! As I review each person's post, I think it's helped me clarify things a bit. Neither the 35 APO or the 24-90 zoom will get much use, but like a rarely used tool in a large toolbox, when you need/want it, it's worth having it at hand. Used prices for the zoom are near $3K or so, the 35mm APO a bit more perhaps. Still from these levels the downside depreciation doesn't seem too severe. It may be worth considering. Thanks everyone - other opinions are welcome.
  7. Thank you for the reply. I have attached photos of the marks with a circle to show the areas.
  8. I am also wondering if its very biased group. I have seen photos classified as master shots that were IMO garbage. An example was a white wall with a blue pain dot on the wall...........really. It was a photo of someones white wall with a blue dot of paint or marker. I have submitted photos for master shot and received no interest and yet the same photo gets hundreds of likes on social media. About 3 months ago I purged my entire gallery so at least they cant use my work for gain.
  9. There really is some magic with the SL 50 1.4 Lux...There just isn't any other way to describe it! I debated on getting the 50 LUX vs the other Leica 50mm's and have absolutely zero regrets.
  10. Pixel wise SL2S to SL3 is a big jump, with any APO lens it is easy to crop down the image and still retain a good image 👍🏼 especially for internet use only.
  11. I'm going with my wife and daughter who will shop for the usual clothes and accessories but I wanted to see if just to window shop unless there is an interesting find. Are there any good camera shops to browse? Will be traveling light so only the XD2 with the 38V XCD lens. Would be interested in mostly film camera stores.
  12. nice to have, but there is a reason why you find "styles" and Leica Looks in "JPG Settings" NO, C1P applies the Camera profiles from C1P and does not read the style or LOOKS
  13. I don’t see any oil. In fact these aperture blades look matte with slightly dimpled surface texture fully intact. If the lens is functioning perfectly, there’s nothing wrong. Just use it.
  14. Hello Klaus, This looks like it might be in the Czech Republic. Did I go too far? Best Regards, Michael
  15. Today
  16. I like these much better than the straight on photo. Second one mostly. More alive. Her personality comes through better.
  17. So far in my limited testing. 1. The gold standard for IBIS is still OM systems. Followed by the X2D. I would give the S5II third for the cameras I have (most of them) followed VERY closely by the SL3 and SL2. 2. I am unable to see a decernable difference between the SL3 and SL2 for stills shooting. I have not tested video. I believe the Nikon's do very well here with IBIS in video. 3. My A7R5 seems very slightly worse than the SL2/3 with a non-OIS lens. When dual IS is enabled they're both excellent to the point I can't really tell. With a non OIS 50 I get about 1/10 on the Sony reliably vs 1/8 or even 1/6 on the Leica. So only around half a stop. All Sony's before the A7R5 were MUCH worse. Sony's IBIS got a huge upgrade from that camera. Both these are easily bested by the X2D which is remarkable. 1/3rd of a second with the 55V is reliable and repeatable for me. Even longer with the 28P. 4. IBIS ratings need to be used in conjunction with other perameters. Camera weight and balance. Shutter type and shock. I think part of the reason the SL bodies do better than my Sony's is because they are heavier. The X2D shines party because it has a leaf shutter. You could use ES but all of these high res cameras are not great with any movement and ES so I think mechanical is more appropriate. 5. The SL cameras may see a small improvement if Leica would enable EFCS. Gordon
  18. you can import DNG in Davinci Resolve, plus raw files from canon and nikon, and many other image formats
  19. M10M with 50mm 1.4 (2023) - A study in light and darkness.
  20. I must haver struck it lucky. My SL fires consistently.
  21. This was taken at a carpark next to a skate park at MRT Ampang Park. We stayed in an apartment in a new building called Royce Residence. They have a pool with a nice view on top of the building at level 51 😊
  22. I was in California for biz and took some quick shots in Monterey.
