Description

Offered here for sale is my Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH Lens - it's a fantastic lens, . I sold my M a few months ago (to buy a Q), and I held onto this lens incase I was tempted to buy another M. That hasn't happened, though, so the lens has just been sitting in its box, and I would prefer to sell it onto someone who will get some use out of it!

Cosmetically the lens body does show some signs of use, but I'd still describe it as being in a good overall condition - there are some small paint nicks to the body and a small (approx. 2 mm) dink to the metal, below the 'in' in 'Made in Germany'. The focus ring is nice and smooth, and the aperture ring clicks along nicely.

Optically, there are a number of fine scratches to the front element - mostly cleaning marks I presume, which were present when I bought the lens. I've never noticed anything untoward in my images, but the marks are nonetheless there. I've tried my best to capture them in an image, but they aren't especially noticeable unless the lens is tilted in a certain angle of light. The rear element is free from any marks, though. Internally there is the odd tiny dust speck, but nothing which might impact on images.

The lens will come with its Original Box, Rear Lens Cap, Lens Hood (12524 - some wear and tear, but it attaches firmly to the lens), Lens Hood Cap, Leather Zip Case, Instructions and Warranty Card (which states the lens was original sold in France, in 1998). Please note, I don't have a separate Front Lens Cap (though it would take a 39mm one) - I always used the Hood Cap instead.

I think that covers everything. I'm asking £1500 for the lens (though I'm happy to listen to offers), which is below what the ASPH seems to be trending for, to account for the marks to the front element, but the lens is otherwise every bit a Summicron-M 35mm Lens.

Happy to answer any questions about the lens, and to provide more pictures. I would prefer to keep this as a UK-only sale - I'm based in Oxfordshire, but would be happy to send the lens within the UK with Royal Mail's Special Delivery service.
