  1. Hahaha ok found another “passionate Leica user” … (fan boy that is) that is losing the view of the real world. I’m out of here, it’s a rather toxic forum. Where in which moment did I mention “serious volume editing” on iPad?
  2. Yes, it is with a box, I realise. So it is rather light by itself …
  3. Mate, I’ve been writing software, and consulting in software engineering all my professional life that is more than 40 years now, focussed on testing a good part of it. Leica released a camera, and Fotos app into an existing ecosystem of other hardware and software tools and platforms. It wasn’t Apple or Adobe to release it but Leica. It would appear that Leica didn’t test their product in those environments. I’m stating facts as simple and straightforward as it can be. Leica’s new product, which is the M11 and the updated app, aren’t working properly with the existing systems that community of users have been using for quite some time. That includes Leica’s older products in those Apple/Adobe environments.
  4. B&H site quotes: Package Weight 0.42 lb
  5. I am then not sure I understood you correctly. Here is what I do again in more detail…I’m mounting the VM10 lens on my M11 (just like I can do on my SL2). The next step is to select a suitable Leica M lens to match if we want to hope the software corrections in the firmware will apply some ‘magic’ to rendering. The closest Leica M lens is the WATE, there is nothing wider that this. So I choose it to be applied as profile for my Voigtländer. I am able to do it on my SL2 and it works just the same way on the M11. The results are fine, I mean I like what I get. And I haven’t compared the outcome with and without the profile. I’m not that investigative or interested.
  6. You don’t get my points across, mainly because you are not using the same tools. Any further discussion with you is futile and not adding anything. Nothing personal, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t have anything to add to what you say and what I keep hearing from you doesn’t add any value to me. Thanks. I don’t stay corrected in any way: it’s my title of a post, I can’t even change it even I wanted to, and I don’t want to anyway.
  7. The fact is it doesn’t work. It’s a defect from a user perspective: I’m a user and I see it as a defect. Did Leica know about it when they released the M11? Is it noted somewhere in known limitations or some release notes? If they didn’t know, someone has to tell them and ask to be fixed. How they fix it … rewrite the DNG how they output it or ask Apple/Adobe to change — I couldn’t care less. I want it to work.
  8. I’m pretty sure it’s not true. I’ve just checked on my M11. I mounted VM 10mm and set this up as WATE 16mm in the settings. I actually like the super wide 10mm Voigtländer lens on the M11.
  9. The title of the thread is correct: it is my title I chose for the thread I wanted to post. Why would it be incorrect? Yes - I’m implying something, triggering users to look into the post, and discuss. Is there something like a “correct title” or “incorrect title” and who is to make the judgement on this? I’m not convinced by your argument that Apple or Adobe must change. It’s Leica who is producing a DNG file, DNG being a standard defined format, not any proprietary like say Canon RAW. They should have tested it better and make sure it’s working. If they ran out of time, or forgot to test it, it’s a bug and needs to be corrected.
  10. I do not believe this is Apple’s issue not displaying the embedded preview correctly. This is the structure of the Leica’s DNG that come out of the M11 that is the culprit. The same iPad with the Files app doesn’t have the issue with Leica’s DNG files that come out of CL, SL, SL2, M10-R, the embedded previews are correctly picked up and displayed.
  11. Totally agree. From my perspective, it’s not a complaint or stopper — there are workarounds available. It’s more about making everyone, including Leica (maybe Apple and Adobe too) aware there are issues. And again, I’ll repeat myself — never had any such issue before with CL, SL, SL2, M10R, Hasselblad X1D and 907X - I am an early adopter.
  12. I’ve been using the same iPad Pro with DNG and RAW files from Leica CL, Leica SL2, Leica M10R, Hasselblad 907X without any such issues. Here is what it looks like, taken screenshots from my iPad. Check the Dimensions field.
  13. It may contain those previews. I don’t know. You may have scrutinised a sample DNG with some tool. Makes no difference to the user as the way they are exposed to a standard tool like Files in an iPad, only the first one shows up, the one with 160x120 pixels: useless.
  14. Oh I’m glad Leica knows about it. Hope it’ll be fixed, it is annoying. It is not just about the Fotos app, it’s about their DNG file contents. It is a bug if the iPad isn’t handling them with proper previews.
