  1. Im baffled by the lack of improvements to the SL newbie questioning who is this beautiful beast of a camera for? I like the new ergonomic layout and menu features but one would think oh there must be more Im just not seeing it that way! Its not a low light king but it is decent, it wouldn't be my choice for studio but yet Leica had a whole studio setup with some U-tubers pointing, directing and shooting a model with no real effort to show tethered connectivity or DR or at least shadow-highlight recovery. Sports, wildlife, kids or any fast moving photos forget it. Macro ugh Street HUM Landscapes oh YA (but would you rather have X2D or GFX?) To say I'm disturbed on how the AF in the new SL3 was implemented by Leica is understated. The shutters limitations is not acceptable along with the flash sync. This is a camera in 2024 that's not ready for prime time and such I will not be buying into it BOO HOO I was so wanting the experience. To all you U-Tubers unless Leica is paying your expenses and paying you handsomely to participate in the initial launch if your going to make a trip to Germany to review or talk about a camera that you get for 4 hours to play with and come up with trying to be nicely correct with you review better stay at home next time and wait for Leica to send you a camera for a month then go to Wetzlar!
  2. I would stick with the 35 and 75 if your planing to have TWO bodies which is important to me you could add a wider lens for landscape and architectural photography the 50 would be my third choice. I do use a LLL lens 50mm on my Sl2s for portrait it's perfect in the center for the look I need. (Don't want critical sharp for SKIN)
  3. I would find it rather hard not to brighten this image a bit not only globally but also using some dodge and burn I look at this and feel it's a starting point. to each his own but Im confused as to why there seems to be a lack of discussion about the venerable M 35, 50 or 75mm lux for portraits on the SL in addition to the conversation regarding the fall off with the SL lenses?
  4. Hey jjesp been to Copenhagen three times in the last two years by coincidence I really love the city! Im going to try the method of running the battery to zero and then full recharge x3. Something is supposed to govern the charging of the battery don't know why mine runs out so fast its only 3 months old? Have a Happy Holiday
  5. Prost 55mm 1.4 Radioactive version amazingly easy to focus and get great images with proper PP.
  6. Ya not pp so original raw not shinny the focus grabbed eyelashes I want to know how sticky is sl2 af for moving subjects? My image was shot in studio thanks
  7. Precisely the question my good man, Im sure not up to speed for sports or faster action but how close is it? Or a better way is it close to Canon's AF speed on a scale from 1-10 compared to other brands A1, Z9, R3 is the SL2 still in dead last place? What I shoot this file is without sharpening at all clarity set to -10
  8. I seem to be reading mixed reviews as to the auto white balance, auto ISO, high ISO ceilings and buggy firmware in the Leica M11. Might it be that the firmware is premature with latest cameras and still be in need of several tweeks? As some of you state the 50mm APO lags behind in comparison to the Sony 50mm gm although Leica claims the 50mm APO is a perfect lens and the best lens Leica has ever made?
  9. I don't think so it has been reported already on a German site where the sensor is from....not Sony
  10. Try before you buy, its been reported that non 6bit coded lenses are bricking the camera and that Just restarting it won't bring the camera back to life.
  11. According to the man who designs the lenses at Leica he seems to feel as long as its a good filter it won't matter.
  12. Jeff the SL is seriously a slow camera, its 50mm is the size of a small refrigerator. Either the SL will be improved body wise or Leica "WILL" release a new Auto Focus Camera in the next 30 days. Why? Because they must! They don't have a choice. The DEVIL will make them do it.

    Leica S3

Yes but you will pay the DEVIL to change out the board and sensor in your current weapon. IBIS would be a real nice addition? Under 20k HOPE
  14. After reading the entire post and trying to re think purchasing another Leica particularly the SL I'm cold again. I was hoping the last firmware release would have address some of my concerns. And I now thanks to hearing all of your views have formed my own opinion as to the SL fitting into my regiment and work flow mandates the need for two bodies and several lenses of any system I use. The off on fix for the J stick lock shows the problem erratic behavior still exists and has not/or is not able to be fixed. this is a poor showing of firmware fixes for a long awaited release. It should have contained at least 25 line items to address many of the major complaints plaguing the SL body. WHY cant LEICA show some love? Fix the buffering so it can shoot 10FPS for appx 30 frames but after a few sec it slows down to 2FPS, slow start up, poor images at high ISO, poor AF tracking. The SL is a great idea but the big size, big weight, big lenses, big price and the non compatibility UHS 2 with both card slots having the same speed make it a non starter for most. If and When a SL 2 is released with all the limitations lifted and the same EX. EVF the great white horse will ride again....until then LEICA = live with what we give you and don't ask for more.
  15. The main issue I am curious about is your eyes are measured for reading prescriptions for certain distances! Ex computer viewing is a different prescription than reading a book, in fact a optimal distance for computer use should bee given to the doc so they can incorporate that into you prescription. So how does that relate to looking through a viewfinder?
