  1. A bus tour from Akaba to Petra and back is not an extended tour. It took 13 - 14 hours.... Nor do i like to carry a lot when visiting such sites where tourists are a prime target for pick-pockets. Just the camera and a spare battery in my pocket.
  2. So, that means that M10 users have to carry four or five batteries? Or six? It's obvious to me that 'battery capacity' is going to an issue with the M10 users. Leica will have to launch a M11 with a huge removable battery. When the M10 users send their M10s to the 2.hand market they will find that they are difficult to sell. Due to the lack of video.
  3. Comparisons with the film age is not relevant. For me it is a question of 'which camera to use': My M-P(240) or my EOS 1D III. The latter blows my Leica out of the water regarding battery capacity. Despite AF and all. I prefer my Leica when travelling since it is lighter and more compact. On a recent cruise to Jordan we took a 'tour' from Akaba to Petra and back. A very scenic journey with lots of photo scenes along the way. I spent the capacity of both my Leica batteries - and missed the beautiful sunset coming back to Akaba again. Damned! Video is not important, many say. Not before you want to sell you camera to younger people. They 'expect' the video capability. - I think it is 'nice'.
  4. Battery life is 'very' important in certain situations. No way I will pay 3.000 Euros more for a camera with less battery capacity than my M-P(240) - which is not impressive at all. It's less than half the capacity of my Canon EOS 1D III. A faster camera is good, though, but not with a lousy battery capacity. Better sensor? So good that we don't have to 'cheat the system' by having designed settings for each and every lens? Thinner camera is more sexy. Sure. Higher ISO-settings depends on the results.
  5. Good to hear that so many are satisfied with their M10. Most of you seem to 'come' from M9. What's the advantages for us having a M(240)?
  6. What so good about M10 that it can motivate me to buy it? Without video capability. Let me hear from users with experience with both M (240) and M10. How do they compare?
  7. To my view, the C1 is far better than Lightroom.
  8. Leica glas is best. Just as long as Leica provides their cameras with software corrections - designed to make only the Leica lenses perform good.

    M10 battery life

I would very much like to have a slimmer M. All the digital M's till' now have been unsexy lumps. But I am sceptical about battery capacity of the M10. - my experience with M-P (240) is not an impressive one. - With my sort of use a battery does not last a full day, even. M10 is obviously going to be worse, I fear. A spare battery - or two - is a must. Why not make a huge battery package attachable like the old motors on the manual M's? As an extra? Then I am sure I will miss the video. - So will the future 2. hand buyers. Often young people. For young people today, - video is standard they take for granted. Then it is the performance of the new sensor. Particularly with non-Leica lenses. I want to see how it performs before buying the M10.
  10. Well, I have tried to sell my Canon 1Ds III. But then I have to accept a much lower price than much cheaper Canon with video capability. Because the buyers ' want video'... As such, Leica M (240) is a pretty unique camera... I should keep it!
  11. Thanks for the link, Digitalfx. I will most certainly follow it and see how the M10 is performing the wide range of lenses available for the M's.
  12. I also have a Leica M-P (240) which I carried on a cruise around the world - on only one battery, earlier this year. At several instances the battery lasted for less than a day! - Sure, I should have brought a spare battery. They were impossible to get hold of at Papeete, French Polynesia - or Suva, Fiji. Not even in Sydney Australia! - But Cathay Photo in Singapore helped me out. But then 2/3 of the trip was behind me. So, Leica will be asked to come up with a higher battery capacity fix. Wait and see.
  13. Implicitly, the M(240) is a pretty unique camera. Should I sell it...?
  14. Sure, and this is a poll among 'existing users'. Us oldies, more or less. But there is a new generation photographers coming that are used to - expect - that cameras have a video capability.
