  1. I just traded in my SVE 16-35 for the 21 APO.....no regrets, the 21 absolutely smokes the 16-35 in all regards (resolution, corner performance) and for street, the f/2 opens new opportunities. I will add the 28 APO next as my preference is most definitely a 21-28 APO combo over the SVE, which 99% of the time I used between 21 and 28 mm.
  2. Fantastic images! M10 Monochrom?
  3. I just purchased the 21 SUPER-APO and am absolutely floored by the performance. Best wide angle I have ever owned, hands down (no regrets selling my 16-35 SVE). I also have the 35 APO and 75 APO SL lenses and therefore tempered my expectations given the bar set by these two optics. I am now eyeing the 28 APO......the addiction to this glass is very real!
  4. Curious as to why you are selling the 75 APO. I bought mine at launch and it has been a workhorse on a multitude of trips around the globe.
  5. Interesting, if I shoot from f/2 to f/11 the same scene, at around f/6.7, I notice the resolution start to drop off across the image. I think this is because the resolution already starts so high at f/2, there are negligible gains in stopping down, other than for DOF. But the onset of diffraction starts much sooner. Splendid image by the way!
  6. Somewhat surprised to here this as I would have expected the performance of the APO primes to degrade around f/8.0 given what I have observed with the 35 APO. Sounds like this is not the case on the wide angles....perhaps because wide open they do not have the same ultra-high resolution as the 35 APO????
  7. Looking at trading in my 16-35 for the 21 and 28 APO SCs. They will be used for both street/ travel and landscape applications. I'm curious if at f/8.0 (for landscape) the 16-35 and APO SCs demonstrate similar performance (resolution across the frame, corner performance) etc etc. Anyone able to do this comparison and post results?
  8. The 16-35 for landscape applications stopped down to f/8.0 is okay-ish. Resolution is not fantastic on the edges/corners. I compared it to my 35 APO and, well, I don't use the 16-35 at 35mm any longer. I have yet to try the 21/28 APO, but I can see heading in this direction. I was actually hoping for the 24 APO to complete my trio of APO primes (24-35-75). But seems Leica has dropped the ball on this unfortunately. The 24 Elmar is my favourite landscape lens on my M10-R and M10M, would buy an APO SL version in a heartbeat.
  9. Any feedback from your colleague Jeff? I've also read a bit about differences in determining sharpening for print between 2.5K and 4K. Some claim 2.5 K is much more accurate in this regard, while others say 4-5K monitors are just fine and that one learns to adapt.
  10. Interested in your feedback on the Eizo monitor Jeff. I was considering the 2.5K version myself. I’m currently using an Apple Studio Display (5K) and it’s okay-ish. Mainly used for work, so want to add a more photo-centric color corrected monitor where I can control contrast/black point to better represent the final print. It’s a bit tricky on the Studio Display and the gamut is also P3.
  11. The lack of fanfare around this long-awaited optic is somewhat concerning. First APO corrected wide angle in this focal length and no reviews! Guess we waited so long everyone that would have cared has simply moved on.
  12. Just asking.....usually reviews are released in tandem, no?
  13. Missing the point....some of us bought into the SL system strictly for the next level performance offered/promised by the APO SC's.....f/2.0, close focus, cinematic rendering, consistency between lenses (color, resolution) etc etc. If I wanted zooms, there are better systems out there. AFAIC, Leica dropped the ball here big time.
  14. Brandon, I recently tried the 28 APO SC and found the corners lacking compared to the 35 APO SC, even stopped down to f/5.6. Perhaps it was just that copy of the lens, but I found the 35 APO the better performer with regards to edge-to-edge resolution and corner performance at similar apertures. Has that been your experience as well?
  15. 24mm Elmar is my most used wide angle on my M10-R/M10-M. Prefer it over 21mm....less exaggerated than the 21 SEM and better corners. I am disappointed, especially as 24-35-75 APO L-Summicrons was the kit I envisioned. I guess two outta three ain't bad....
